An old Art Nouveau typeface named "Daphne" provided the inspiration for this decidely different font. This version is upright, but the linocut treatment employed visually suggests the slight rightward slant of the original typeface. Bold, unusual and distinctive. The Bitstream version of Caslon 540 of the American Type Founders, 1902. Based on William Caslon I's first English Old Style typefaces of 1725. Caslon modeled his designs based on late 17th century Dutch types, but his artistic skills enabled him to improve those models, bringing a variety of forms and subtlety of details. Strokes in Caslon fonts are somewhat heavier than in earlier Old Style fonts, serifs are thicker and a bit stubby. Italic letters have uneven slope. A text set in Caslon looks legible and aesthetically appealing. Caslon is a favorite font of English printers for setting of classical literature. Cyrillic version was developed for ParaType in 2002 by Isay Slutsker and Manvel Shmavonyan.

The Vale Press was a contemporary of Willam Morris's Kelmscott Press. The types used by the Vale Press were designed by artist Charles Ricketts, who also supervised the design and printing of Vale Press books. The main type used, Vale, was based on the Jenson 15th century roman type style. The King's Fount was an experimental semi-uncial font based on the Vale type. The King's Fount was designed in 1903 for the Vale edition of the 15h century poem "The Kingis Quair". This semi-uncial font evokes old English and Anglo-Saxon lettering. P22 Vale Pro combines the two fonts P22 Vale Roman and P22 Vale King's Fount into one "Pro" font. This pro font also includes a Central European character set, old style figures, fractions, ornaments and a special faux "Middle English" feature to make "anee text appeer Olde." This feature is not known to exist in any other font.

Typefaces with very thin verticals and fat, square serifs were popular in the 19th century for display. Hollywood helped associate this style with the Old West, but reference books identify some of it as Italian style. WyomingSpaghetti, part of an extended family of typefaces, has a name which combines these two associations. Most typefaces of this type are very condensed, but this one is not. The letter o is nearly circular, which is rather unusual in this style.

Simeon's Handwritten Blackletter is the result of my desire to have my handwritten old English style writing available for my computer. It is a basic Gothic style font with my own touch to the lettering. This lettering style is unusual in that combines aspects of several lettering styles. The original version of Salloon was what has become Salloon-Wide. It was designed a year or two before 1990. The narrower version, which is now the regular version of the face, was constructed a few years later. There never has been a true lower-case set of letters for these fonts, but the narrower version introduced a second set of caps by removing the side bumps from the letters. Although Salloon may look like an old font, no historic font closely resembles it. Fonts with bold, thick stems such as Salloon invite interior decoration. The five striped versions and the shattered version of the font were produced a year or two after the construction of the narrower Salloon when the arrival of a font distortion program made it easy to cracked and stripe fonts. In 2019 an outline style and two highlighter styles were added to be used in layers with the Salloon-Regular and one highlighter style was added to be used with Salloon-Wide.

Pistol Twelve JNL is a novelty version of Jeff Levine's Twelve Oaks JNL wood type font, with the addition of random bullet holes in the upper case characters. The font design was suggested by fellow type designer Ray Larabie. Pistol Twelve JNL is a two-fold pun. Initially, this conveys the obvious fact that the design is a variation of Twelve Oaks JNL with bullet holes... but the name is also a play on an old, old joke. One person asks the other: "Would you care to join the Pistol Club? You drink 'til twelve and..." Well, you get the picture!

Generisch Mono is a monospaced version of Generisch Sans. Generisch - a german equivalent of generic - sans serif typeface has gain its own place among designers and earn such popularity due to its "simple" design. Generisch is influenced by early grotesk typefaces from early 1900's when sans was starting to get popular and used as a body type. Some old ligatures such as ch ck and ng are present in generisch (not the ct and st tho), old style numeral for better typesetting experience and more.

After the Second World War, the Ionic style replaced Modern Face as the favored typeface for newsprint. A couple decades later, it was in turn replaced by the next generation of newspaper fonts, a mix of Old Face, Transitional and Modern Face forms. Rotation was designed by Arthur Ritzel and presented by Stempel/Linotype in 1971 and named for the rotation newsprint machine for which is was particularly suited. The font displays the influence of Old Face design and gives newsprint a feeling of lightness and elegance.
