Antica has sharp triangular serifs, and in 8 weights with true italics, it forms a family that stylistically finds its origins in Latin styles of the nineteenth century. The font incorporates additional swashes, small caps and stylish alternates that advance the aesthetic from its roots and make it appropriate for modern design. Commonly named ‘Latin types’ did not vary in weight, but we decided to create Antica with a range that goes from thin to black and we also added extra curlicues to the letterforms. Antica borrows from the versatility and freedom granted to type founders of the nineteenth century – a time when the meteoric growth of mass-produced consumer goods led to an increased demand for publicity that needed fresh, attention grabbing typefaces. And as an homage to these Latin types we designed Antica to function well with an array of projects from stylized labels and formal editorial design requiring small type sizes to large-scale posters and billboards. An attempt to go back towards the beauty of fine book printing, inspired in Britain's literary classics. Athelas takes full advantage of the typographic silence, that white space in the margins, between the columns, the lines, the words, the lettershapes and finally, within the characters themselves. It is also intended to take advantage of the great advances and technical developments made in offset printing. Athelas shows its best side in finely crafted book editions and good printing conditions. Athelas has a large character set that covers most of the languages that use the Latin script. Although inspired in British literature, this typeface respects the cultural values behind different languages, where diacritic marks have an utterly important role. Athelas features four weights and about 800 characters per weight, including small caps, discretionary ligatures, fractions, a complete range of numerals for every use and a set of ornaments and arrows.

Typewriter DirtY is related to the Typewriter BasiX and Typewriter Revo fonts. While Revo has a very clean and simple outline, BasiX is a bit washed out and looks worn. DirtY goes a step further and has a very dirty, worn, fuzzy, grungy vintage look – even more so than BasiX. Typewriter DirtY is especially suitable for headlines, logos, covers, slogans and much more. BasiX and Revo are recommended for longer texts. Although Typewriter DirtY looks good even in small font size, it is a bit more complex to render because of its detailed outlines. Typewriter Revo, BasiX and Dirty are monospaced typewriter fonts, which are matched to each other. They have the same dimensions and generally somewhat similar contours. Therefore, they can be perfectly mixed and matched with each other.

What does a 1932 movie about a love affair between a circus' trapeze artist and a sideshow "little person" have to do with the 1960s counter-culture? They both share some commonalities. The title card for Tod Browning's "Freaks" inspired the lettering design for Hippie Freak JNL. It's in a retro style that was embraced by the youth movement that had its epicenter in the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco. Circus performers with birth defect abnormalities were displayed in what was referred to as "freak shows"; while young men with long hair and beards who sought peace, love and an end to the war in Vietnam were commonly referred to as "hippie freaks". As the saying goes "the more things change, the more they stay the same".

Eight designers present a set of icons that indicate the fun and fantastic world of signage. Each collaborator's solution represents a completely different interpretations on signage vernacular. Akira Kobayashi's "Subsumption", obscured by foliage, offers a perspective that signs on Japanese roads can be vague and beautiful. M.A.D.'s "People Signs" is a graphical association of people signage with a variety of well known situation symbols. Cynthia Jacquette's "Honest Arrows" are a series of arrows that attempts to honestly tell you how to get from point A to Point B in a big, confusing city. The major focus of my life and ministry at this point is book design. In the brave new world of 21st century self-publishing a new paradigm has arisen: the indie small shop. One of the problems is that all books are published as ebooks, and many books are published only as ebooks. There are two problems with this: character availability and licensing. The licensing problem is solved by including an ebook license with all of the Librum E fonts. The character availability is the core of the design. OpenType features do not work yet with ePUBs [though it is in the spec, if I understand correctly]. Kerning doesn't work, and so on. So these five fonts have only the 256-character [or less] ASCII set. A separate small caps is included. It has lining figures {proportional} and small caps instead of the graphics. The other four fonts have graphics to give bullet choices in lists, oldstyle figures {proportional}, and care given to character shapes so they will work better without kerning. Blacketor came about from hand lettering I had done for my own personal use several years ago. It remained unfinished until now. I was going for a more traditional serif font but in the process of play various versions came about while playing with the serifs, in an attempt to be slightly different. Many versions fell to the wayside as I learned more about what didn’t work than what did. What came about was a clean font with large open counters and short ascenders for an easy read. All caps works well for a bold but not shouty statement. A good font for Headlines and callouts as well as logotypes.

I used to live in the English Lake District, where I worked in an outdoor gear store. I bought a bright red mountain bike and each day, after work, I cycled up the mountain and hurtled down - heavy metal blasting from my MP3 player. Of course, the bike was a regular MTB, so it got some serious damage after a while, but the adrenaline rush was great! Downhill Dive is a great brush font (made with actual brushes and ink on paper - no tablets involved here!). It is an ode to that wonderful time spent in England. Downhill Dive comes with some really nice ligatures.

Arabetics Latte is a Latin Serif typeface with a comprehensive support for the Arabetic scripts, including Quranic texts. While its seemingly-idiosyncratic Latin design eliminates the excessive usage of serifs and offsets the visual effects of several geometrically-intense glyphs, its Times Romanesque proportions gives a full nod to the beginnings of Latin types and produces an overall stable look-and-feel of a classical Serif style, making it suitable for both text and display applications. Liberal spacing is maintained throughout to match that of the Arabic text and is further supplemented by a careful implementation of a typical Latin kerning. Arabetics Latte fully supports MS 1252 Western and 1256 Arabic code pages, in addition to all the transliteration characters required by the ALA-LC Romanization tables. Users can either select an accented character directly or form it by keying the desired combining diacritic mark following an unaccented character. For Arabic, it fully supports Unicode 6.1, and the latest Arabic Supplement and Extended-A Unicode blocks. The Arabic design of this font family follows the Mutamathil Taqlidi design style with connected glyphs, emphasizing vertical strokes to bring added harmony, and utilizing slightly varying x-heights to match that found in Latin. In older American slang, a "bum steer" is a bad tip, some bad advice or being sent in the wrong direction (to name a few examples). Bum Steer JNL was modeled from some playful hand lettering found on a piece of early 20th Century sheet music entitled "When Uncle Joe Plays a Rag on His Old Banjo". It's very possible that "Hobo" (a popular type design of the time) was a strong influence on the sheet music's style of title lettering. It seems that songwriters in those bygone days were prone to cramming as many words from a line of their song into the title itself. Another such example of a wordy song title which coincidently is in keeping with the theme of a "bum steer" (pun intended) is a novelty number from 1915: "Cows May Come and Cows May Go but the Bull Goes on Forever" (words by Vincent Bryan, music by Harry Von Tilzer). [It's kind of self-descriptive, don't you think?]

Fun. Fun isn't it? But sometimes you can have too much fun, and things can get out of hand. Revla Sans is, in certain situations, too much fun. So, without further ado, let me introduce the straight man to Revla Sans's buffoon - Revla Sans Text. It represents a complete overhaul of Revla Sans. The bounciness has been removed and details reined in, all for the purpose of optimizing the fonts for use in longer runs of text. 'Text' is perhaps a strong word here; you're not going to be setting novels in this typeface. It still retains the charm of the original, and could well be used in display settings. Think of it like this - Revla Sans would be a great choice for the logo and branding of a board game, no? Revla Sans Text, then, would be good for setting the instructions, or body copy on the website. Revla Sans Text is not as feature-rich as Revla Sans, and is priced accordingly. Enjoy!

Eroxion was designed by Eduardo Manso in 1997. It is a good example of degenerative typographic design, borrowing from techniques first explored in the early 1990s by the designers at Letterror.

Hobgoblin is a cute and happy little font. It would be ideal for children's books, games and apps. Hobgoblin come with mischievous glyphs and a pot-o-gold worth of diacritics.

National Champion is the overly confident geometric slab that comes in four weights and twelve line styles. He's got a 3/4 cap lowercase, lots of language options, and opentype fractions!

Radiant font was designed by Robert Hunter Middleton in 1938 and first appeared with the Ludlow Typograph Company. It displays the strong stroke contrast typical of transitional antiquas but has no serifs. It mixes characteristics of the antique style with that of the sans serif and is therefore referred to as a sans serif antiqua. The font Brittanic displays similar characteristics. The slender characters with their high x-heights give Radiant font an elegant, sophisticated look. The finer weights are a good choice for short and middle length texts and the bolder weights are good for headlines.
