Axiforma was designed with the single idea of creating a font that starts with the letter A, because let's face it, this is the best letter. For those of you who didn't see it coming, Axiforma is a /drum roll/ geometric sans in 20 weights. If you are thinking "Oh boy, another geometric sans", you clearly know your stuff. Yet, Axiforma is different in at least three crucial ways: 1) It's made by me 2) It's not free 3) It's polite and humble Additionally, Axiforma is packed with Opentype such as oldstyle numbers, fractions, case sensitive alternates, localized forms, stylistic sets, cyrillic alphabets (Bulgarian & Russian) and many more. I just returned from a short holiday in Japan. I stayed in hostels and small guesthouses and noticed a peculiar thing they all had in common: they love little notes, telling you where to go, what to do, how to use the microwave oven and when to check out. These notes were sometimes printed, but more often they were handwritten. I found that the Japanese way of writing roman characters is a little, well, unusual. The letters are correct, but they have that typical ‘Japanese look’ - most notably the a and A the b, d and g, the p and P and the t and T. I can’t really tell you what makes them look different, maybe it’s the proportions, but I do know that a Nippon Note is highly recognisable. So, here is Nippon Note, a highly recognisable, handmade font. You don’t really have to be in Japan to use it, but it will give your designs that extra cachet. And don’t forget Nippon Note Kawaii - the cute doodle font which is free if you download the Nippon Note family! Comes with extensive language support, but unfortunately not Japanese…

Modesto Initials had existed as a single font for several years. I recently added a fill font to put color in the Inlines. The Inline font still works by itself. The Fill font works alone too, as an ultra Modesto on steroids. They work best together. Modesto is a loose-knit family based on a signpainters lettering style popular in the late-19th and early-20th centuries. It evolved from the lettering I used for the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus Logo. The Modesto family was not planned. It just happened, a few fonts at a time over about fifteen years. In 2014 seven new Italic fonts and two Chromatic families were added. There is a downloadable MODESTO USER MANUAL PDF in the Gallery section for this family.

Have you ever played with Lego™ and built letters? With Billund Side and Billund Top you can do it again and create colourful headlines on your Mac or PC. Billund is a font-system consisting of the two base-fonts Billund Side Outline and Billund Top Outline, extended by layer-fonts for one or five colours. Use the Outline-fonts alone to get »transparent« letters in one colour, use it with the Fill-fonts to fill the whole letter with one colour, or use the five Colour-fonts to get colourful letters in every colour you want. Billund contains cyrillic and greek glyphs and can be used for nearly a hundred languages. To expand the typographic possibilities, small caps, old style figures, numerals for small caps (c2sc), three stylistic sets, different symbols, forms, standard- and discretionary ligatures have been added, furthermore contextual alternates to avoid colliding letters. Each Billund-font contains 870 glyphs and more than 1600 kerning-pairs. Billund is named after the city of Billund (Denmark), where Lego™ was invented, the Lego™-headquarter still resides and the first Legoland™ theme park was opened in 1968 and still exists today.

Pilgrim is a re-cut of a Linotype face that Eric Gill originally designed for a book published by the Limited Edition Club of New York. Admired for its tranquil dignity, the Pilgrim type is both firm and elegant. Its general appearance resembles that of Gill’s Joanna font family. The contrast of the font is not very strong. The serifs are bracketed. Eric Gill, who designed the type on which Pilgrim is closely based, observed one sort of model for his lettering - the incised monumental letter of Roman origin. This is clearly seen in his capitals, but is also true of his lowercase letters, which have little of the calligraphic or engraved qualities of most other type designs. Gill’s types are Roman in the classic sense, yet also particular to Gill himself.

I will spare you the long-winded description this time and all of the motivations and witty innuendoes. Quite frankly, I forgot about creating this typeface and it sat on my hard drive for almost a year. Luckily, my daughter Isobel saw the initial drawings one day and ask me about those pretty letters and I remembered… yep, that happened. That said, time made this a better typeface… with fresh eyes and time, much was redrawn, retooled and expanded to something I truly enjoy playing with. Shameless makes extensive use of Contextual alternates to create a proper ebb and flow from letter to letter. Interestingly, there are only a handful of ligatures… instead many special combinations are accounted for solely by relying on Contextual Alts. Mix in Stylistic Alts, Swashes, responsive Titling Alts, numerous Style Sets, etc and you can have a lot of fun. I created 2 versions. A ‘Standard’ version that has 2200+ characters and a ‘Deluxe’ version that has 2400+ characters and an interesting caveat… I plan on expanding the Deluxe version any time I have an idea to add to the typeface… and as such, buyers will receive all of those updates at no charge (with updates going directly to the distributors). You get what you pay for… no insane discounts. Oh, and if you are wondering… Shameless is based on my handwriting using Kuretake Zig CocoIro pens. I love these pens.
