The typefaces Largo Mager (Light) and Largo Halbfett (Medium) were cast for the first time in 1937 by Ludwig & Mayer based on the designs by Hans Wagner. One weight Largo Licht (Outline) was added in 1956. All fonts were only configured with capitals. The digital version of Largo has pointed serifs and not the slightly rounded ones seen in the hot metal versions which gives the typeface a more elegant note. Largo is often used for fine printing jobs as business cards or formal invitations, or in the fashion and cosmetics fields. Hans Wagner was born in Munich in 1894 and died in 1977 in Altenburg where he had worked as a painter, graphic designer and book designer. In addition to the Largo typeface, he developed, among others, the Altenburger Gotisch (1928), the Welt-Antiqua (1931-1934) and the Wolfram (1930).

This is a series that takes unfinished typefaces that were either previously ideated but not realized or were close to completion but left incomplete due to dissatisfaction with certain aspects, and brings them to completion. "Oorrnnoott" was originally a project named "Petitgothiquemignon" or "Sangoth". In the process of refining "Kropotokin", several ideas were incorporated into the design. Well, I say "incorporated," but it was designed on a whim, as usual. After all, it was started around 2005, and I don't usually leave notes or anything (which isn't the best habit), so I don't remember the emotions or thoughts behind its creation. Please consider this typeface as a very typical sans-serif font, as that is what I was aiming for when I excavated it this time. Please use it for body text, headlines, eye-catching designs, or whatever you like.

At this time I found the Album of monograms – a guide for doing handicrafts in families and educational institutions. It was published in St. Petersburg in 18ХХ. Finally, I found an authentic English style monograms set. These monograms are characterized thin swirled lines and lush foliage patterns. In the beginning of the 800s, during the reign of Carolus Magnus (or “Karolus”, as he signed himself), a great reformation of the written characters was conducted under the authority of Alcuin, Paul Diacre and Theodulfe. The new style, named “Caroline” script, was completely set up between 820 to 830. It was a regular script, with few ligatures, very legible, but only with lowercase. The capitals remained the old Romans ones. We have created the font to serve contemporary users, making a difference between U and V, and also between I and J, which had no relevance for ancient Latin scribes. We also added Thorn, Oslash, Lslash, W, and and the usual accented characters that did not exist at the time. Titlings (initial letters, without accents), historical and contextual alternates completes the set (in two separate files for MacOS9).

Northstream is a Neo-Grotesque in motion. The typeface was inspired by an attempted photograph of an interesting shop sign that was interrupted by a passing truck. The resulting effect was a blur of movement and designer, Hendrik Weber, wanted to capture that feeling within the typeface. The result is a whirlwind of a design and the shadow behind the letterforms creates a very interesting effect. This typeface is meant for graphic designers to enjoy and play around with, and it is best suited for display text and large sizes such in posters and billboards. Northstream was designed as part of the Font Marathon that was run at the Monotype London office in November 2016. This version is available for free and because of the short time frame is supporting a Basic Latin character set and a few alternates.

Secca Soft is the rounded sister of Secca font family. For decades, cereal companies have included premiums [promotional gifts] inside their packages, printed on the cartons or to send for with a special coupon and redemption instructions. During the 1940s, Pep cereal [a long-discontinued Kellogg's brand] offered a series of water-applied decals within its boxes. Most likely made by the Meyercord Company (one of America's largest transfer decal manufacturers at the time), one decal in particular had an alphabet in gold letters with black outlines. (One can only presume the marketing strategy was to have kids bug their parents to buy more Pep cereal if the child needed more than one letter of the alphabet for his or her initials!) Those decal letters have inspired a digital version as the outline character font Toy Decals JNL, which is available in regular oblique, solid and solid oblique styles.

When drawing a new font, there is a time when the final form is found – almost – but the curves are not slick and clean yet, that's what I call the "raw" form. Raw – no sweeteners added! In this family I tried to redefine this moment in type development for the eternally beautiful "Franklin Gothic". I call the design "Franklin Gothic Raw", not to be confounded with "rough". The family can be used like any good normal typeface, you hardly see any difference to a conventionally cut "Franklin Gothic" in small sizes. The charm of the design becomes obvious the bigger it becomes, then it enhances your design with its imperfections in the outline. "Franklin Gothic Raw" is therefore an extremely versatile family. I created the cuts, that I considered necessary for the seasoned designer who knows what he's doing. Enjoy!

Melodi is the result of years of working with hand made types on my designs. Every time I draw the letters and words that I need for every design piece. One day I decided to go serious and make a real type of it and “Melodi” is the result of this work. It’s a calligraphic font, built using a regular stroke, and carefully crafted to have nice joins between all the letters. It has some playful but stylish capitals that brings lot of personality to the font. It work super nice either in lowercase writing as in all-caps texts. It looks specially good on lists of words or small sentences. Melodi is a playful but very versatile font, it can be used in lots of different scenarios. By the 1990s, the availability of font creation software opened the door to an explosion of creativity, experimentation and exploration into the world of digital typography by amateur and professional alike. The undisputed king of the freeware fonts was Ray Larabie through his Larabie Fonts website. It seemed at the time that Ray’s output was endless, and he amassed dozens upon dozens of fonts that ranged from the ridiculous to the sublime. In fact, Ray was the driving force of encouragement and a behind-the-scenes “mentor” who helped Jeff Levine Fonts get underway in January of 2006. As Larabie’s focus changed to higher-quality commercial type design with the launch of Typodermic, Inc., many of his “less than perfect” font experiments were withdrawn and shelved. Ray eventually turned those lost (and sometimes questionable) typefaces into a bundled zip archive released into the public domain through Creative Commons. One particular design “Boron” (circa 1996) featured computer-oriented lettering as if etched onto a circuit board. Running with this idea, and with Ray's approval, the electronic elements were stripped away, the characters cleaned up and modified, and the font reworked in Retro Checkbook JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

TELEPATH Telepath by Coniglio Type, first appeared in 1998. It is now in opentype .otf as of 2021. Telepath is a master sampling of a Royal office typewriter of industrial strength provided by the Miller Furniture store, of Dunkirk, New York. It had a baseline set of numbers to make accounting practices easy and line up nicely on the statements. (No gentile old fashioned numerical ascenders and descenders.) Yet, for a a rather old and stolid machine, it was very luxurious and built to definitely take the test of time. Cudo's for Royal Typewriter Company, is all I can say. The set of images were very carefully gathered and has fallen into the preferred category for a typewriter font that has it all. The font has exceptional value as a text font -and- a display font. It contains a great deal of graphic information and doesn't spike at higher sizes. Telepath presents a strikingly handsome typewriter font with a uniquely intuitive difference. Unlike the original source material—scans of monospaced typewriter copy, every font is painstakingly hand kerned for your most demanding copy fitting work in justified or casually ragged settings for print or the web. Bike Decals JNL captures the fun and nostalgia of the 1950s and 1960s when kids all around the country ran to their local five and dime or hobby store to purchase water applied decals. The "cool" thing would be to customize your bike, little red wagon or anything that would be fair game with various racing symbols, weird space creatures or other unusual images. In this font, Jeff Levine has put his own spin on some of the classic designs of yesteryear, drawing from scratch some of the most popular of their day.

Prototype is a typeface with a very contemporary identity crisis—is it old or new? uppercase or lowercase? serif or sans-serif? Prototype tries to be all things to all people. There have been many attempts at creating a universal typeface, one that rationalises the alphabet and removes the inconsistencies of upper and lower case, applying an unreasonable logic to something that has grown organically ...and is already perfectly usable! Prototype was the same experiment carried out at a time when design was experiencing an identity crisis of its own—letterforms that try to be all things to all people but end up being something else entirely.

It occurred to me years ago that the graphic arts community might find useful a digital typeface that mimicked the classic look of nineteenth-century handwriting. Conveniently, my mother then still volunteered at the Center for American History at the University of Texas at Austin, my hometown. She made copies of the letters of a few famous Texans -- Houston, Austin, Travis, Burnet, Rusk. Thomas J. Rusk’s penmanship caught my eye as the most accessible of the bunch. I hadn't realized at the time what a challenge it'd be to render a realistic-looking script face, but the result has, in fact, filled a niche.

Neo Afrique sans a neo-futuristic typeface with a modern decorative twist. This typeface design came out of further development and refinement on an original typeface that i created some time ago, Durango Sans. True in nature to it's predecessor, Neo Afrique was also born out of this desire to fuse two different aesthetics, the geometric Neo-Futuristic aesthetic, fused with flourishing decorative forms from Art Nouveau and the later Lubalinesque aesthetics. This typeface will form part of a larger body of work that is meant to be an exploration of Afrikan neo-futurism, using the immense power of visual-linguistic narratives to catalyse new cultural movement and perception.

Birch was designed in 1990 by Kim Buker Chansler, who based her forms on the designs of the turn of the 20th century. The new age needed new typefaces for an ever-increasing commerce and its advertisements. This time period therefore saw a profusion of new typefaces, all of which were meant first and foremost to catch the eye of consumers. To this end, style elements of past ages were reused, changed, and combined. Birch is modelled after a woodtype, a style made famous by its use on wanted posters in western movies. The narrow and space-saving Birch is perfect for headlines in display point sizes.
