Daiquiri is a revival of a handlettered font in two weights, from an ad for Puerto Rico Rum dating back to the forties or fifties. I found the ad on a French antique market on my last visit for Mardi Gras in Nice. The ad read "Breeze through the heat, be a Daiquiri fan". That's why they had this "fan" in the illustration! Did they want you to rotate like a fan when you had enough Daiquiris? Or did they just do it for that little "Jeu des mots"? Anyway I found the handlettering very pretty, so I took those few letters and made a whole font out of them. I think Daiquiri has that touch that brings those happy and uncomplicated times back when advertising was still fun. I started something like 20 years later in advertising and things had gotten more stringent. We already had to satisfy those marketing guys with their scholarly attitude. RoyalBavarian was comissioned by King Ludwig the First of Bavaria about 1834. He was probably the greatest king Bavaria ever had, but he fell in disgrace for a short affair with the infamous Lola Montez and subsequently had to resign. He died in 1868, peaceful and happy in Nice on the French Riviera. I happened on an original etching of his type-guidelines for official writers of those days about 20 years ago. I always thought it was a very nice Fraktur (Blackletter), not a sturdy militaristic one as most of them are. Being me, I started with first tests immediately and then just forgot the font on my computer. When I was sorting out old stuff a couple of months ago I happened on the etchings once again and kept on working intermittently on the letters. The Plain cut is pretty much like the king wanted it. The vast resource of hand lettered vintage sheet music titles offers many interesting and unique variations on even the simplest styles of lettering. A simple thick-and-thin serif design circa the 1920s-1930s evokes a reminiscence of the Art Nouveau period combined with a touch of what was to come during the Art Deco era. Human Sans is a humanist sans serif font created as an experiment. The goal, how much a simple substitution of a small set of characters could change a font's nature. In its base form, Human Sans is a humanist sans serif geared toward text. However, through stylistic sets, it can adopt a myriad of different visual styles. This includes geometric alternates, uncials alternates, contextual swash caps, and the high and low midlines, typically seen in Art Deco lettering. P22 Victorian is a font set created in conjunction with the Albright-Knox Art Gallery's exhibition of Victorian-era French artist James Tissot. The fonts developed for the P22 Victorian set are based on historic typefaces dating from the late 19th century. Victorian Gothic was based on a type style called ‘Atlanta’, a simple, expanded width, quirky, yet elegant face similar to ‘Copperplate’. Victorian Swash was inspired by the willowy, delicate face ‘Columbian’, which has also been known in recent years as ‘Glorietta’. The P22 version includes ‘snap-on’ flourishes based on the original 'Columbian' ornamental embellishment designs. Victorian Ornaments features over 150 decorative embellishments.

An example of hand lettering from a vintage instructional book was the basis for Fashion Statement JNL; available in both regular and oblique versions. This extra-wide "thick and thin" design is perfect for replicating the classic signage and print work of the Art Deco era.

Bohemio was designed in memory of Gunter Böhmer, an artist famous for his many book covers of the 1950s in Germany. The cover I took as an inspiration for this font is that of a book called Stiller (by Max Frisch). Bohemio sounds similar to "Böhmer" (which means the one from Bohemia) and it is also an alliteration to artisty. Business Penmanship is an ode to the business handwriting from the era penmanship was a highly-valued part of business education and practice.
  In the early 1800s, Platt Rogers Spencer (1800-1864) created what would become the most widely accepted and prized cursive writing method used in business. Before the American Civil War, Spencer was the undisputed king of handwriting. He was also an outspoken supporter of American business education. By the late 1800s business education included some focus on penmanship, and there were many colleges that specialized in it. One of the most influential penmanship schools was founded by Charles Paxton Zaner and his partner E. W. Bloser. Later on, in the early 1900s Austin Palmer introduced the Palmer Method of business penmanship, and it soon became the most popular handwriting system in the United States.

Presidio is a stylized version of the hand-lettered calligraphy typical of the Mission era of early California. This lettering was often unique to an individual hand, but the characters shared a common style, and had their roots in the Middle Ages when monks and scholars copied whole books one letter at a time. Baro had its beginning in a handful of rigidly geometric uppercase letters from an unidentified 1960�s or 70�s era press-down lettering font, which in turn was possibly a revival of a 20�s era Art Deco font. The exercise quickly expanded into a complete typeface with 300+ characters, including several catch words (word glyphs), stylistic alternates, discretionary ligatures, multilingual support and both lining and old style numerals. Baro maintains much of the characteristic geometric rigidity of the original handful of letters, but � With the addition of just a little bit of flare, a bit of cheerfulness breaks through, like a wink and a smile on the face of a fat and otherwise stern policeman.

Introducing a retro grotesque called "Stengazeta". The name means "wall newspaper" - this is very popular in USSR genre of handmade artwork that is actually a mix of newspaper and poster. During the Soviet era you could find it everywhere - in factories, schools, research labs, and even in army and police. Sometimes it was a kind of official propaganda, but often just a way of expressing of creativity of co-workers. The letterforms are bold and grotesque with strong handmade feeling. Twentieth Century Poster, designed by Sol Hess for Lanston Monotype in the 1940s, provided the inspiration for this family of faces. Although, historically, the design falls outside the time period normally considered the Art Deco era, its sensibilities are pure Art Moderne. Both versions of this font contain the Unicode 1252 (Latin) and Unicode 1250 (Central European) character sets, with localization for Romanian and Moldovan.

TT Tangerine made in 2017 has been a global hit. It's been used by the biggest performing artist in the world, luxury brands, designer packaging and more. Due to its popularity an italic style was added in Feb 2023. From the designer: I wanted to make a retro font with that 70's good vibes feel but i didn't want to just copy letters from that era. I decided to make new unique letters that had that groovy 70s feel. The bold curves pay homage to the big hair and bell-bottoms of the golden era.

Inspired by the basic letter concept of Walter Huxley's 1935 gem Huxley Vertical, Dining Room JNL is a completely re-drawn typeface, adding even more of an Art Deco feel to an already classic Deco-era letter form consisting of condensed, rounded letters. Thick vertical lines balance against lighter weight ones, giving a dramatic contrast so typical of the Streamline Era of design concepts. This font marks another milestone in the Jeff Levine library of retro-inspired type faces. Beginning in 2006 with only ten designs, the collection has grown steadily with Dining Room JNL being the 750th font in the library.

Glass Light was designed in 1912 by Franz Paul Glass for the Genzsch & Heyse foundry. The font is stylewise related to the "Lo types" of the same period. Glass designed a lot of decorative elements to go along with the font. I added Swashes, endletters and smallcaps to the set to make it complete. Since this type of font will probably not be used by many professionals, I did not put all the letters into one big OTF-version since most people don't have OTF-savy software. Manolo was a Ludwig & Mayer in-house design from the beginning of the 20th century. Though more formal than many others, the design keeps its Art Nouveau air. This beautiful font was completely redrawn and redesigned with giving the numerals more style. Two stippled border elements were added which you can reach by typing [alt] + P and [alt] + p. Like most fonts of this era, RMU Manolo comes with a long s too. RMU Manolo encompasses most European languages, Central and West, plus Turkish.

Aspidistra is a modern vintage typeface; which is to say a Studio K original with a period feel: it has a strong Art Nouveau influence (a distant cousin of Arnold Bocklin). Why Aspidistra? In the first half of the last century an Aspidistra was a must have accessory of the aspiring middle classes (see George Orwell's Keep the Aspidistra Flying), and to my mind this font evokes the chintzy charm of that era.

Pen Nouveau JNL is a perfect example of the fluid, free-form pen lettering popularized during the Art Nouveau era of the early 1900s. The type face was modeled from the lettering on the cover of a piece of sheet music from 1911 entitled "If You Talk in Your Sleep, Don't Mention My Name".
