Kiddo is a whimsical, handwritten font family created for use along side children's media. It pairs nicely with Monterrat and other neat, rounded sans serif fonts. In 1948, Mergenthaler Linotype released the first weights of Trade Gothic, designed by Jackson Burke. Re-introducing the classic mid-1500s Garamond forms for the twenty-first century is never an easy task. A connected typeface design with a calligraphic flavor. The Lahab (Arabic for flame) font family employs visual features from the Arabic Diwani Calligraphy. It has six members, normal, bold, and light, all of which come in two styles, regular and left-slanted italic styles. This font family design follows the guidelines of Mutamathil Taqlidi type style with one glyph for every basic Arabic Unicode character or letter, as defined in the latest Unicode Standards, and one additional final form glyph, for the freely-connecting letters in traditional Arabic cursive text. Lahab employs variable x-height values. It includes only the Lam-Alif ligatures. Soft-vowel diacritic marks, harakat, are selectively positioned. Bay Tavern is the first weathered version of our Tavern font that's based on Algerian. With three weights, open faced and outline versions to choose from you're sure to find the right style for your new project, restaurant menu, logo, t-shirt design or Pirate costume party. Bay Tavern includes all the same alternates as our regular Tavern font family. While our original Tavern font has been increased to include five weights additional weights for Bay Tavern will have to wait for now, adding the notched cut in's were all done by hand which causes a lot of cramping so a long break is needed before creating the extra weights. The Fill fonts in the Bay Tavern family are meant to be used with Bay Tavern Open fonts, if you're using Bay Tavern Open then select Bay Tavern Fill, if you're using Bay Tavern Open L then select Bay Tavern Fill L, if you're using Bay Tavern Open S then select Bay Tavern Fill S, if you're using Bay Tavern Open SL then select Bay Tavern Fill SL, the same rule goes for the Open X version.

In my on-going quest for display fonts to be used with my books and on my book covers, I decided I need a squared sans serif. I started the build off of Fiscal, a font I designed back in 2006. I never liked the font, plus my tastes have changed. So, I opened it, made it narrower, increased the x-height, and various stuff like that. I made it much heavier—an ended up with Boxy. Then my brain slapped me and said, "Why don't you make a sorta modern version?" So, I did and decided to call that style Chic. But then I wanted a thin version also. Fiscal was always too heavy and ponderous for me. So, I made the Thin style. Finally, I felt I needed an italic of Chic. OpenType features didn't seem to work well with the family, so all I added was oldstyle figures. So, I ended up with another of my unique families—with two unmodulated fonts: Thin and Medium, and two modulated fonts: Chic and Chic Italic. But, I'm pleased with it. My hope is that you will like it also.

Diaconia Old Style is a new rendition of my workhorse body copy font that I originally designed to use for the body copy of "Printing in a Digital World." I became increasingly upset with the lack of lowercase numbers and true small caps. Diaconia started life as a modification of one of the Dutch Bible fonts I traced. It has changed a lot since then (although I have a hard time telling how much because I have lost the original). The plain and italic work especially well when used in very large sizes as display faces. The other four variants (small caps, heavy, heavy italic, and black) are designed for use in book production. Because I format all my own books, I was able to design fonts that met my needs exactly: lowercase numbers, SMALL CAPS font, Mac Command, Option, and Control symbols, ballot box in the section slot, and several other special characters. DiaconiaPro is the OpenType family of my body copy workhorse. This is the first font family I ever created: classic, elegant, easy to read. 583 characters: small caps, oldstyle figures, numerators, denominators, lining figures, accents and a lot more.

Aeris™ typeface is a contemporary book face created by the American designer Tom Grace. The project began with an extension to the original Engel character set and freshening up the typeface to suit the OpenType format. EngelNewSerif came about as a sibling to EngelNewSans as a corresponding serif family also of 12 weights, matching those of EngelNewSans. Both families are designed for a wide usage in running text and headlines. EngelNewSans is an evolved version of the original Engel typeface, which undergone improvements to the individual letterforms and the overall look which resulted in this sans serif type family with a more mature confident character and with softer, rounder and more harmonious shapes. The characteristics between the two could perhaps, very fittingly, be compared to a person showing different sides to their personality at different stages in life. With EngelNewSans portraying the more mature role while the original Engel shows traits of a cool teenager with rough edges, not yet fully developed. To make the light weights function with serifs attached for EngelNewSerif, the same low stroke contrast as seen in EngelNewSans was applied. Further discovery found that the serifs and the stem width had to be optically similar for the light weights not to appear too fragile. In the heavy weights however, the stroke contrast was higher than in the Sans versions, this was done to open up the counters and make room for the serifs to breathe. The intention of the families is to motivate an element of play and give the designer a larger selection to work with.

FangsALot is a bizarre typeface family that was designed to alternate two character sets. These sets are alternated automatically in applications that support the OpenType feature Contextual Alternatives (calt). The template used to design characters is a distorted triangle that resembles a curved tooth or a fang. This shape can be flipped horizontally, vertically, and both horizontally and vertically to give four orientations. Two of these orientations are used in the regular style and two in what is called the italic style. I thought the fang motif did not come through clearly in the regular and italic styles. Rather the impression they give is more like graffiti lettering. To emphasize the fang motif I added two more members to the family by filling fang outlines with unadorned sans-serif characters. Then to allow more color in lettering, I added two more styles with letters on black. I then had six styles based on triangles skewed left and right. Why not fill the family out with three more styles based on an isosceles triangle? The end result is a family of nine. All members of the family are monospaced and are hard to read. The three graffiti-like styles have some alternative letters that can be accessed with the OpenType feature Stylistic Sets. Also, for each style it is possible to use only one set of characters by adding a space after each letter and then adjusting the character spacing. The graffiti-like styles can be useful in situations where the hard-to-read property is not important but where a menacing and vicious touch is needed, such as topics of sharks, teeth, biting, and vampires.
