These letters were developed to decorate the font Bowling and then were also used in the fonts Coffeemug and Teapot. For many years the InsideLetters family had only one family member, InsideLetters. An upgrade in early 2019 added two more family members, InsideLettersHalloween and InsideLettersXmas. The first puts the letters from InsideLetters on pumpkins and the second puts them on Christmas tree ornaments. In 2022 and oblique stye was added to the family. Inside letters is caps-only. It is a casual and playful handwritten sans-serif font.

String Theory has been a 10+ year project in the making which originated from a type workshop in Graduate School at Otis College of Art & Design. The workshop was hosted by Dutch designer Hansje Van Halem, and we were tasked to play with string to create letterforms. Thus String Theory was born, and slowly migrated from yarn, to an illustrator file, to what it is today as a type family. Each glyph has it’s own custom string set up, along with each weight. Experimental in nature, edgy, with subliminal angst and grittiness.

This typeface was inspired by a font used by Henrie Ballard. Ballard operated on Fleet Street at the Signe of the Bear in London, England. He was active in the industry from 1597-1608. The font is meant to capture the feel of the original typeface with the capability of reproducing the many ligatures that are part of what make that era's printing interesting. YahoschWormy is one of rare results that was interesting enough to save and clean up. The source font was Yahosch.

Deep in the bowels of the earth a tortured creature tries to mimic the writings of mankind. It labors long and hard carving the letter forms on the walls of its cave. Many years later, rubbings where taken of these impressions and fashioned to create this hideous font. All kidding aside, with such a formal training in type design, it was not easy for me to create these ill-shaped letters. I kept wanting to smooth out the outlines. Anyway, it was a good exercise and we now have this antique heavy-weight.

MVB Peccadillo is an interpreted revival of a metal typeface popular in the 19th Century, then known as Skeleton Antique. Highly condensed with extra short descenders, the face makes a big impact in a narrow space. Holly Goldsmith worked from letterpress-printed specimens of 96-point, antique metal type, deliberately retaining subtle distortions due to type wear and letterpress impression. Alan Dague-Greene, referring to printed samples of Skeleton Antique, adapted the design to create two additional optical sizes: “Eight” for smaller text and “Twenty-four” for subheads.

Zebra, designed by Janet Valdez of Janworx, is a bold sans serif typeface, heavy on one side, and sporting a realistic zebra animal theme. Both upper and lower case are all caps. Incorporating the stripes into the font eliminates the need to power-clip or edit an existing font to reflect the animal theme. Creating artwork for spirit wear of a team with a zebra mascot has never been easier. This typeface is suitable for use at a large size, and would work well for screen printing, vinyl work and posters.

LUAZERVA is a font that is quite unique because the base is a classic serif font with the Victorian genre, why is it unique, because this font has a characteristic that is broken and loses the thin body of the letter itself, so besides being unique this font also has a rather difficult readability. So this font is really a display font that is not suitable for making long text. To enable the OpenType Stylistic alternates, you need a program that supports OpenType features such as Adobe Illustrator CS, Adobe Indesign & CorelDraw X6-X7. Cheers!

My Hero Father is a quirky playful font with father's day theme. This font has 7 variations of fonts, each variation has a different decoration. This family was inspired by an engraved plate from Diderot & Dalembert's Encyclopedia (publication beginning in 1751), illustrating the chapter devoted to letter engraving techniques. The plate bears two engravers names : "Aubin" (may be one of the four St Aubin brothers ?)and "Benard" ( which name is present below all plates of the Encyclopedia printed in Geneva ). It seems to be a transitional type, but different from Fournier or Grandjean. Small caps are included in fonts for TTF and OTF version, separate files are included in the family sets of the Mac TT version.

Architype Konstrukt is a collection of avant-garde typefaces deriving mainly from the work of artists/designers of the inter-war years, whose ideals have helped to shape the design philosophies of the modernist movement in Europe. Due to their experimental nature character sets may be limited. Architype Van der Leck originates from the lettering that Bart Van der Leck created for ‘Flax’ magazine in 1941. The letterforms‘ restricted shapes and abstract, stencil-like forms reflect the strong geometric language of De Stijl and show influence from his abstract paintings.

Libelle is a 21st century English Copperplate Script typeface. Created by Jovica Veljović, a designer with decades of experience as a calligrapher, typeface designer, and professor, Libelle differentiates itself from other Copperplates Scripts because its letterforms are less mechanical. The hand of the calligrapher shows through the forms, breathing new life into this historic genre. Libelle includes approximately 400 extra glyphs, including alternate forms of many letters and special forms for the beginnings and ends of words. Architype Universal is a collection of avant-garde typefaces deriving mainly from the work of artists/designers of the inter-war years, whose ideals underpin the design philosophies of the modernist movement in Europe. Their ‘universal’, ‘single alphabet’ theory limits the character sets. Architype Bayer-type is based upon Herbert Bayer’s 1931 universal, modern serifed alphabet. Although the ‘modern’ style appears to be a radical departure from his first sans single alphabet of 1925, the structure of this later serifed style is still grid based and geometrically constructed.

I was commissioned by the Emporium (now Macys) to digitize Radiant Bold Extra Condensed (originally designed by Robert Middleton in 1940) for use in their Sunday supplement to the San Francisco Examiner. For several years, I stubbornly refused to add the lowercase letters to the font, because I thought it looked best just used with caps, but finally relented, added the lowercase letters and at the same time created two more weights as well: Light and Medium. Used very large and carefully, these faces can be quite elegant.

Sys is a condensed font designed to work well at small sizes (i.e. phone books, maps, or the like) but it has enough personality to be used at big sizes, too. The TrueType version, thanks to its incredibly accurate hinting, may be used to replace amazingly well TrueType system fonts in every platforms, in web or other screen applications. After the succcess by the first version designed ten years ago, the version 2.0 has numerous improvements in the design of the glyphs, new Unicode ranges, useful OpenType features and enhanced readability.

She truly shines bright, for as the owner of Stella Roberts Fonts, she has dedicated part of her net profits to helping her siblings pay for their medication; they both suffer from Cystic Fibrosis and diabetes. Calm in spirit, loyal to friends and family, nurturing and caring-- Stella has been a friend of Jeff Levine's for years. His Estella JNL font was dedicated to her, as is this other namesake font, Morningstar JNL. The design is a cross between retro-techno and a slight calligraphic touch.

Many years ago I created two upside-down typefaces, UpsidedownJJ and UpsidedownTOC. They were based on monospaced or typewriter fonts, and were rotated 180 degrees, which is the same as a vertical flip followed by a horizontal flip. Recently I was reminded that this way of creating an upside-down typeface is not the only way to create an upside-down typeface--a simple vertical flip creates a different one. That is what this typeface is, a simple vertical flip. The original typeface on which this one is based is JetJaneMono.

A casual semi-connected script, Eubie Script’s letterforms rise and drop to create surprising word shapes, helped by position-specific ligatures and contextual alternates. Biffo was designed by David Marshall and produced in 1964. The alphabet in handwritten style has the character of writing done with a broad tipped pen. The figures are round and flexible, even its vertical strokes have rounded edges, softening the look of the characters. The basic forms show parallels with a pear shape: generous in the lower third and thinning out as they move upward. Biffo is a unique, lively typeface perfect for personal correpondence and for communicating spontaneity. It is best for short and middle length texts as well as headlines.

My 9-year old son Sam asks a lot (a LOT!) of questions. Like: ‘what killed the dinosaurs?’ (probably an asteroid), ‘what is the distance to Pluto’ (about 7.5 billion km), ‘how big is space’ (93 billion lightyears - give or take). I am pretty sure he asked me about gravity as well. Gravitational Pull is a messy pencil script font. It comes with a whole bunch of double-letter ligatures and some really wonky glyphs. And no, in its virtual form, this font is not subject to the Earth’s gravitational pull.

I used to be a frequent flyer; as a tour guide I often had 6 to 10 international flights per year. At the time I didn’t even think about the consequences of flying, as I loved my job and the job was all about travel. Now, with the planet in deplorable state, I try to keep flying to an utter minimum. I guess you call it ’shame of flying’… Frequent Flyer font is a nice, eroded, all caps font. It comes with multilingual support, so you may come across it during your travels.

Motley Crew is my last font for 2016. It is quite a lively, quirky and a little bit scary typeface, which will give your designs a little more ‘joie de vivre’. It was made with a soft brush and Chinese ink. The splatter was added after I had painted the glyphs. I forgot to put away my laptop, which now looks like this font… Motley Crew wishes you all the best for the coming year - in a lot of languages, as it comes with a generous splatter of diacritics.

The specimen book Alphabete: ein Schriftatlas von A bis Z identified the pattern for this typeface as Stymie Black Flair. Although neither the designer nor the original foundry is identified, it bears a strong resemblance to the work of Dave West for Photolettering in the 60s and 70s. Big, beautiful and bodacious, it’s a natural choice for attention-grabbing headlines. Many alternate characters available: see the full character map. The PC PostScript, TrueType and OpenType versions contain the complete Latin language character set (Unicode 1252) plus support for Central European (Unicode 1250) languages as well.

Revans is a strong serif font with medium contrast. Inspired by the High Octane Rock genre and modern-classic fashion. Innocent until proven otherwise, Olivita is a heavyweight interpretation of the Typewriter genre. Typewriter fonts have captivated generations of designers and found its way into infinite applications, including Milton Glaser’s classic I heart NY logo. Olivita is a fat-face take on the same idea. There’s a lot to negotiate in making type as bold as possible, with shapes having to contort and distort in order to make a cohesive whole. The x-height is tall yet ascenders and descenders are long. Super size it and see the rich, creamy texture come forward.

Ossuary is a font in which each letter is formed using a uniquely arranged pile of skulls. The font was originally designed to be caps only, but small caps were added for convenience. There is now a character for each typeable letter of the American English keyboard. The font was inspired by images from the Kostnice ossuary in Sedlec, Kutna Hora near Prague. (Google it.) Whether you are fascinated or repulsed, such images have a mystery about them. They demand your attention. That is the feel this font was intended to capture.
