A reminder of the days of flower power, Satron is quite a bit different, slightly hippy and slightly grungy. Although it is not in any way an attempt to emulate the fonts used in that era, it evokes the mood of the time. There's two different shapes making up each character, with a grungy black one in front of a hippy white one. The combined effect however is quite novel and modern. There's also a jumbled version with the letters rotated and whacked around, in case you want it funky-flavored. There's all the main characters plus lots of extra accented letters as well. Antique Tuscan No.9 was one of the earlier wood-type designs by William Hamilton Page. It was first shown among the specimens produced in 1859, shortly after Page entered into a new partnership with Samuel Mowry, owner of the Mowry Axle Company. The new company was named Page and Company and was located at the Mowry facility in the Greenville section of Norwich, Connecticut. Antique Tuscan No.9 is an extra-condensed version of the tuscan style that had been released in moveable type by Vincent Figgins of London in 1817 and had become so popular for advertising in the intervening years. Because of the extreme compression in the design, we might be tempted to describe it as "Triple-X," but that might be misleading. The analogy would, of course, be to clothing sizes, not movie ratings. Because of the compression, this typeface reads best when set extra-extra-extra large. For printing, we recommend 36 points or larger. For the screen, we suggest at least 72 points. An unusual and distinctive design, it is best used with discretion. If I were doing a term paper for school or submitting an article to a magazine for publication, I might use it for the title page, to grab someone’s attention. I would certainly not use it for the main body of text - not if I expected anyone to read what I wrote. If you wonder why we make this recommendation, take the Ten-Point challenge. Print this paragraph using Antique Tuscan No.9 and set the font size at 10 points. If you are young and blessed with good eyesight, you will probably be able to read it - with effort. All 6 fonts use the characters A - K and a - k to show two planets/stars/moons moving across each other. Nice and simple. There's a different number of points on the stars, or they're different sizes, and some appear to pass left-to-right, and some appear to pass the other way. Just type in ABCDEFGHIJK or abcdefghijk and you'll see. Two fonts have all the characters on the same level, (All-Black and Black+White). The Offset font has the 'sun/moon' with one slightly above the other and in black and white, and Half has them all-black. Partial has them even further separated in 2-tone. NearMiss is a very close shave. Comma, hyphen, and full stop/period give just a single symbol; there's a Space, and that's it.

Gridlock tries it's best to fit as much info as possible in a small space neatly in line and with the subtle curves and smoothness of bent steel. The inspiration for Gridlock actually came accidentally after designing some lettering for a self-promo project and it needed something that just was condensed with visual appear.
