I had a chat recently with a customer who is a big fan of lettering from the psychedelic poster era. The discussion got me thinking about poster lettering we hadn't yet made into fonts, and a particular sample from a Jimi Hendrix poster I had played around with but never finished making into a font. So I went back to the drawing board and the result is the new Hendrix font. Unlike many of our other Psychedelic fonts which are stripped down to their basic character forms, this font includes the outlines characteristic of a lot of poster lettering from that period. It also includes variant versions of a number of the characters

Printers Drawer JNL continues building on a library of letterpress illustrations, cartoons, ad builders, Art Deco ad panels, ornaments, embellishments, and general miscellany. The images are re-drawn from vintage source material, and this font is jam-packed with 89 images spread throughout most all of the standard keyboard positions. This is officially the 1000th release from Jeff Levine Fonts since its inception in January of 2006. Jeff Levine Fonts aims to preserve the almost-lost artwork and lettering styles of the past within a digital type format, and often recreates the designs complete with their evident flaws, idiosyncrasies and eccentricities; allowing for a “real world” and nostalgic look to the computer generated art projects of today.

SL Gardel is a tribute to the genial tango singer Carlos Gardel (1890-1935). Gardel was portraited with proverbial slenderness by Natalia Español in SL Gardel. SL Gardel synthezises the most outstanding facets of the "creole trush" (zorzal criollo) through its exclusive icons: his seduction, his tango, his magic, his style. His Buenos Aires. Integrally worked through the typical modulated trace style founded in Buenos Aires tango graphics, the SL Gardel's imaginery unfolds a singular fan of images-concepts. The tango spirit reflected trough an excellent developement. SL Gardel is an original iconographic illustration library in True Type format. SL Gardel takes part of the "Icons of Icons" Gallery, developed by SinergiaLab for Sudtipos.

This family was created from the set of font faces used in Lima (Peru) by Antonio Ricardo in 1584 for the first publication ever printed in Southern America: a four-page leaflet in Spanish entitled "Pragm·tica sanciÛn" with information about the new Georgian calendar of 1582 which had not yet been communicated to the colonies. In our two styles (Regular & Italic), font faces, kernings and spacing are as close as possible to the original. This Pro font covers Western, Eastern and Central European languages (including Celtic), Baltic and Turkish, with standard and “long s” ligatures in each of the two styles. A,B,D,E,F,M,N,P,R,V,W swashed capitals in the italic style.

Country Western is a revival of the classic William Page font known as Clarendon Ornamented originally designed in 1859 and again in 1877 by Vanderburgh & Wells. This version combines the best of both versions and adds something new. New to this font are the lowercase, italic, swash and script versions plus Greek and Cyrillic character sets. Keeping with the original theme from 1859 Fill fonts are available for the Ornamented and Open faced versions of this font. Greek, Cyrillic, Central and Eastern European characters sets are supported in the Windows TrueType and OpenType formats. Luba is a multi-script text family designed by Hendrik Moeller. The family includes four weights: Light, Regular, Medium, and Bold. Each of these fonts may be purchased with both Latin and Cyrillic script coverage, or with support for just the Latin script. Moeller initially developed Luba to assist speakers of languages using the Latin script who are just embarking upon learning a language that uses the Cyrillic script, i.e., French, Germans, or Italians who are learning Russian or Ukrainian. Luba's letters place significant emphasis on their identifying elements; clear forms and a relaxed style help familiarize the reader with the foreign glyphs. The typeface makes clear distinctions between Latin and Cyrillic letters, without covering up their shared heritage.

Gate A1 is a typeface inspired by the famous DIN, but it is more humane compared to the prototype. Thanks to its straightforward, roughly naive construction and slightly increased letter spacing, the font is quite legible, even under difficult conditions. It makes Gate A1 perfect for road signs and orientation, as well as for interfaces. The typeface supports all European languages, including Greek, and the extended Cyrillic covering all major languages. In addition, Gate A1 has a functional set of arrows and several alternate sets of figures and graphic elements. The typeface designed by Dmitry Kirsanov was released in 2012 under the name of DIN PT and re-released in 2022 with additions by Alexander Lubovenko.

ITC Hornpype is the work of California freelance designer Mott Jordan, a cheerful display face inspired in part by the cartoons of the 1920s and 30s. According to Jordan, the typeface's name and three-dimensional quality can be traced to an early cartoon in which a cat blows on a horn with such force that the instrument bulges out. For the three-dimensional look, Jordan added highlights to the thicker strokes to create letters that look as though they were, in his words, squeezed from a toothpaste tube". Jordan suggests his eye-catching font for shorter words in larger point sizes. ITC Hornpype is a lively font perfect for anything needing a "fun, goofy" look."

Sometimes you get an idea stuck in your head and the only way to get rid of that demon is to put something down on paper. A year later the doodles became a skeleton, and then the skeleton had a body, then the body had a name, then the name got a personality. What was left was a clean set of ten fonts that encompass a very simple skeleton with a lot of visual appeal. During the process, I saw ways to expand the typeface's display capabilities by producing inline styles as well as a down-and-dirty rough set. Edito is a completely new bodycopy font. The special thing about this font is, that all serifs have the same height. So no matter if you take the thinnest cut (A) or the fattest (F), you will always have aligning serifs. I started Edito as an experiment. I tried to enhance the classic and sturdy Times font. But I soon dicovered, that it would be more efficient to take only the basic idea behind Times (the robust design) and start from scratch. It turned out a real solid and useful typeface for everyday use. In due time I will add a couple of extra cuts. Yours in a journalistic mood Gert Wiescher

Do you suffer from OCD? Then this font is perfect for you. Or maybe not. Sometimes I like confusion, chaos, imperfect things, because I can often see beauty in them. In this font I drew the letters with a pen and or with just the index finger on a tablet, completely free, without improvement. The chaos ensuing. As if I was rushing notes just for me. Then, without changing the design any further, but to make the chaos minimally legible, I decided - look at this madness! - to organize the chaos. In other words, I aligned metrics and kerning, and the end result was this. I hope you like it and that it is very useful for you. Cheers.

Headlines are transformed into clear-cut messages with the handwriting type family Slandic. Its robust appeal combines the elegance of script typefaces with the lightness of handwritten notes. What makes the Slandic so playful is the synergy between the quite narrow lowercase letters and the wide uppercase letters. Therefore it might rather be an upright chancery italic of a humanist sans. You can see it very clearly in its sharp upward angles and its long-limbed ascenders. Its visual appeal sets a reliable tone. It is precisely balanced with a solid stroke contrast and confidently angular-shaped curves. Slandic perfectly enhances exciting contrasting typography adding a personal note without giving it a comic spin.

The 1930s era French textbook on lettering "100 Alphabets Publicitaires déssinés par M. Moullet" featured a hand lettered chamfered alphabet with slab serifs reminiscent of sports lettering. Although intended for advertising and signage inspiration, only a partial lower case was illustrated along with the capitals and no numbers or other characters existed. These had to be created from scratch. The finished result is not only a bit of classic lettering from the past, but the font also doubles as a typeface with a sports look and feel. A traditional (rather than stylized) M and N are located on the solid bar key and the broken bar key respectively. Old Sport JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Isidora Sans is a new version of the bestselling font Isidora (released a year ago). Brillo Typeface stems from the effort of combining the modern look of a grotesque sans serif font with the elegance of the calligraphic copperplate's swashes. The result is a typeface that is perfectly suitable for modern graphic applications, such as publishing, branding and web, but which has some ornamental features that differentiate it from all the other grotesque families. Brillo doesn't want to be a neutral typeface. It's a font with a strong personality, which can give outstanding aesthetic and conceptual relevance to the graphic projects which will be used in. Stencil Round Ends, is just that, a stencil typeface with rounded terminations to each line rather than the squared terminations found in your typical stencil font. This design was developed while designing a typeface for engraving. The end mill tools used to engrave a font are round, thus the lines will all end with a rounded edge. While designing the engraving font I also designed this font to make sure that the single line version will have the desired aesthetic. Unlike many stencil fonts that have a limited range of glyphs I made this to contain the majority of letters, accents, ligatures, and mathematic symbols commonly used in most latin based languages.

The Handel Gothic™ typeface has been a mainstay of graphic communication for over 40 years - all the while looking as current as tomorrow. Designed by Don Handel in the mid-1960s, and used in the 1973 United Airlines logo developed by Saul Bass, Handel Gothic was an instant success when released to the graphic design community. Its generous lowercase x-height, full-bodied counters and square proportions make the design highly readable at a wide range of sizes. Handel Gothic's slightly idiosyncratic character shapes gave the face a futuristic look 40 years ago that retains its power today. In addition, its Uncial-like lowercase is instantly identifiable - and unique among sans serif typestyles.

Linotype Sicula, from German designer Roberto Manella, is part of the TakeType Library, chosen from the entries of the Linotype-sponsored International Digital Type Design Contest 1999 for inclusion on the TakeType 3 CD. It is available in two weights, regular and oblique. Linotype Sicula will quickly win over any nostalgic spirits. Ornamental and sweeping, the figures line up on the paper, their contrasting strokes and playfully irregular forms giving them an exuberant, decorative character. The careful details of each figure come to light best when used in larger point sizes. Linotype Sicula is therefore best for headlines and can easily inspire typographic experiments and its capitals can serve as initials combined with other typefaces, especially sans serif.

Goodchild Pro is a pragmatic text face, equipped for sophisticated academic typography. The face has a large x-height, as there is little point in adding to the stock of rangy “book” Jensons. Despite this departure from the archetype, in other respects Goodchild is true to the original letter forms in its tight fit, modulation of stroke contrast, and manipulation of x-height and serif size. Jenson’s tiny tittles and diamond-shaped periods have, however, been relinquished. The finish is not the antiquing that one often finds in Renaissance revivals. 
Here clean, decisive details provide a freshly minted, contemporary appearance, providing a smart impression should one wish to use the face at display size.

Hot Salsa is a calligraphic script font inspired by the classic, fairly well-made brush letters from the casual sign painting style, mixed with the fast and gestural tags you can find on walls all around the world. This is a fresh font that allows you to play with its numerous swashes, alternates and ligatures to make it feel more sober or a little flirty depending on your needs. Hot Salsa started with a brush pen and a lot of paper. These were later re-traced onto many layers of tracing paper with the intention of maintaining the brush pen and handmade feeling while making the structure consistent to ensure its readability and performance.

Sultania is a harmonic synthesis of the old characters’ suppleness and the resolute, clean design of modern typography. The rich in contrast calligraphic approach with thick and thin strokes is still visible and you can almost feel traces of ink on paper while it’s shapes in general, without serifs and any embellishments, proclaim its up-to-dateness swinging between roundness and rigor. Elegant, noble, yet still affected by traces of the handwritten script, Sultania is reminiscent of power, wealth, mind and culture. Sultania’s historical roots and it’s originality remind of oriental colors. A close Orient, at the gates of Europe, in which Latin characters are mixed with distant sounds. The Byzantium of the Sultans.

Churchward 69 is a ten weight typeface family originally designed during the late 1960’s by the late type designer Joseph Churchward. From the extremely condensed Regular weight to the outlandishly heavy Ultra Black, this square sans serif makes an audacious statement. Even the Italics are extreme at their 17 degree angle! Churchward 69 includes 5 weights, Regular, Bold, Extra Bold, Black, and the gorgeous Ultra Black, and their italics. Joseph sure knew how to draw heavy weights! All members of the Churchward 69 family have OpenType features, including proportional and tabular figures, unlimited fractions, superior and inferior figures, and ordinals. Each font also has an extensive character set to support many western European languages.

Neue Frutiger Devanagari was created by Mahendra Patel and Kimya Gandhi and a team of designers and font engineers from the Monotype Studio, under the direction of Monotype type director Akira Kobayashi. The family is available in 5 weights from Light to Extra Black, with matching italics to support the Devanagari script and languages such as Hindi. Neue Frutiger Devanagari embodies the same warmth and clarity as Adrian Frutiger's original design, but allows brands to maintain their visual identity, and communicate with a consistent tone of voice, regardless of the language. It is part of the Neue Frutiger World collection, offering linguistic versatility across environments – suited to branding and corporate identity, advertising, signage, wayfinding, print, and digital environments.

Zomsenso is an angular, semi-modular typeface that supports OpenType alternates. The angular part means that the entire* font uses only angular segments and shapes. The alternate glyph shapes are under Stylistic Set 01. This font includes Seven Segment display (U+E000 to U+E07F) and arbitrary fractions (U+E1nd, n=numerator; d=denominator) that are mapped to the Private Use Area, so users can easily insert them via Unicode input. You can combine these fractions with the superscript and subscript numerals to create more fractions. This font can be used for essays, signs, logos, posters, commercial projects, videos, and many more. *except the circles in the Geometric Shapes block, which are still round

The typeface family Triump is a simple sans serif with 6 weights from Thin, ideal for use as an epigraph, to Black for head titles of special impact. Excellent for applying in graphic design as logos, trademarks, posters, editorial and web design. Inspired by the classic types of the late twentieth century with rounded corners that give the typography a smooth appearance with rounded ends, with a horizontal stroke that exceeds the vertical in the letters A, E, F, H, J and K which gives a distinct personality. Triump comes with a Black weight in normal and italic Line both upper and lowercase letters, especially to give a vintage look to the designs.

These six faces are interpreted from examples shown in Rob Roy Kelly's "American Wood Types" They are not merely scanned copies, but have been redrawn from scratch with various optical adjustments. Kelly points out that the true glory of the American Wood Types are the negative spaces, which are, in their dynamic active forms, the antithesis of the anemic flimsy letters produced by type foundries in the 19th century. The Alphabets Wood Types are designed with digital manipulation in mind. Stretch, curve and distort at will! These designs were released prior to similar revivals from Adobe. Each font has two full alphabets (one full height, one smaller) and numerals. However, certain points and accents will not be found.

This font family is display stencil sans-serif with different stylistic layers available as open type font. The main characters are geometric and neutral but when we change the contextual alternates open type feature the letterforms activate the cursive stylish set. The word composition is divided by initial, medial and final forms, available for all uppercase and lowercase, the diacritics for Latin encodings (Western and central Europe and Baltic countries) are available. However the contextual alternate features (cursive mode) can only work on Adobe CS Indesign and Illustrator softwares. This typeface also has uppercase swash and stylish alternates. A large group of discretionary ligatures are also available to improve better legibility and readability on specific characters combinations.
