Typeface Laborat™, designed by Kristína Jandová, is a Grotesk typeface that combines the geometry of a circle and a square. FranklinGothicHandBold is another part of a series of hand-drawn fonts from way back in time – before computers changed the way we worked in advertising. When I was in advertising – before computers – a very time consuming part of my daily work was sketching headlines. I used to be able to sketch headlines in Franklin Gothic, Times, Futura, Helvetica and several scripts. We had a kind of huge inverted camera – which we called Lucy. We projected the alphabet onto a sheet of transparent paper, outlined the letters with a fineliner and then filled them in. It was very tedious work, but the resulting headline had its own charm and we had a permanent race going on who was best and fastest. I won most of the time! Galano Classic is the display companion of the Galano Grotesque family. Like the Grotesque family, it also pays tribute to the geometric shapes of Futura, Avant Garde, Avenir and the like. However, instead of that family’s modern interpretation of the geometric genre, Galano Classic prefers to stay in the past, a tendency characterized by a moderate x-height and details like the long stretched leg of uppercase “R”, as well as the traditional shaped lowercase “g”, to mention only a few details. Galano Classic, compared to Galano Grotesque, includes lots of redesigned glyphs and consequently adjusted kerning pairs, an extended number of alternative characters, ligatures and opentype features to match a great many design applications. It comes in 10 different weights with matching italics containing 555 glpyhs per font. Although Galano Classic was planned to be the display version of Galano Grotesque, it feels great in small sizes and long text passages, too.

My son Konstantin wants to become a cook. So I thought it would be a nice idea if I designed a script for his fabulous future menus as a gift for him. I think he will become a great cook. The three Konstantin cuts can be mixed. The A cut has the most straightforward letterforms, the B cut has more swashes in the capitals and swinging descenders and last but not least, the C cut gives you some fancy lowercase letters. Cullion is a new departure for Greater Albion, being a modern Fraktur, embodying future trends sch as highly stylised glyphs, a single case of lettering and highly evolved letterforms. At the same time it can trace its inspiration back to blackletter traditions, and is inspired by the sort of ironwork to be found in a medieval portcullis. Albia Nova is a bit of a new departure for Greater Albion-an unashamedly futuristic typeface. It was originally developed for a friend of ours-a set designer who needed some lettering on props for a science fiction play-the brief was to evolve conventional letter forms and speculate as to what they may look like in the future. The PARATYPE library is our latest major addition, consisting of more than 370 typefaces. In the spirit of the perestroika changes and following the collapse of the Soviet Union, a group of Russian type designers quit the state-owned Polygraphmash foundry to establish ParaType, the first, and now largest Russian digital type foundry. The ParaType team under the supervision of Vladimir Yefimov creates new typefaces and explores the Russian typographic heritage by making digital versions of existing Russian designs: these include the hits of Soviet typography such as Literaturnaya and Journal Sans. FA Berlewi is inspired by stencil lettering of a vanguard creator, Henryk Berlewi, who was a precursor of contemporary typography, a painter and a creator of the mechano-facture (Mechano-Faktura) theory. In 1924 he designed a poster for his mechano-facture one-man show in Warsaw Austro-Daimler car salon. An attention-grabbing composition with stencil lettering was doubtless a real innovation and according to Berlewi - the first typographic poster to be made in Poland.

The tale of Pumpkinseed began with a bit of hand-printing I noticed on the dinner menu at a local restaurant. I took a menu home for future reference. Several months later, some similar hand-lettering on another dinner menu caught my eye. I became a sort of connoisseur of hand-done menu lettering. After tweaking and adjusting a few of these menu-inspired (uppercase) characters, I placed them -- along with some other designs -- in an online Type in Progress survey. They won. So I finished the caps, drew out the lower case from scratch, created three weights and oblique styles. The result: Pumpkinseed, a full-featured casual hand-lettering face. Comes in Light, Medium, and Heavy.

A typographic conundrum presented itself with the hand lettered title on the cover of the 1919 song "I Am Always Building Castles in the Air". The capitalized portion ["Castles in the Air"] was a hybrid mix of a few Art Nouveau-influenced rounded letters, yet along with this were squared letters with rounded corners (reflecting the upcoming Art Deco movement to take place in about another decade). As a complete alphabet, it didnít mix as well as in those few short words. What to do? It was decided to go with the squared look and save the rounder characters for a future project. The end result became Last Date JNL; available in both regular and oblique versions.

FA Komunikat is an experimental and geometrical typeface based on simple elements: a circle, it's parts and straight lines. The typeface communicate the spirit of future, dynamism and modernity. FA Komunikat design was based on the sketch of unique lettering from 1932 made by Władysław Strzemiński, Polish vanguard abstract painter, an artist and a typographer. Strzemiński claimed that modern economic letter forms should be standardized and based on lines and arches. He wrote that readability is a matter of habit and after a practice the new letter forms would be very well readable for everyone. In 2004 Artur Frankowski revived original design creating set of characters, widen up with numerals, punctuation marks and diactrics.

Stettinum Nicodemus Pro is a project to revitalize lettering from tenement houses in Szczecin. The project includes the digitization of letter remains from ul. Kaszubska in Szczecin to form functional fonts. The main idea of the project was to preserve the disappearing remnants of Szczecin's typographic past, which, despite the span of glyphs limited by time, can be an inspiration for many future extensions of the already established family. Stettinum Nicodemus Pro Sansum is a family of typefaces consisting of 7 variations. The block structure with a regular structure and a relatively high minuscule allows for many different applications. Versions 700, 800 and 900 are intended for titles, headings and emphasis, typefaces 300 to 600 are text typefaces.
