Lotter blackletter with Drop caps One fine day I found a vintage book, it called “A treatise by the Dominican friar-writer Marcus von Weida on the Brotherhood of the Holy Rosary”. It was printed in 1515 by Melchior Lotter in Leipzig. The text was illustrated by hand-colored engravings on religious and liturgical themes and beautiful initials I like. Lotter was the last name of a family of German printers, intimately connected with the Reformation. An innovation by the elder Lotter was his use of Roman types for Latin, reserving the Gothic types for German. I'm happy to present to you my new font family. Morro is based on simple geometric shapes – circles, triangles and rectangles. Imagine cutting circles, triangels and rectangles from paper and arranging them into letters where the outer edges form a filled figure. Arranging figures like this to form letters is nothing unique. You can find several beautiful examples of alphabets that inspired the creation of Morro. This typeface is the reinterpretation of a sample found in a French book, published between 1882 and 1893 and its author —Ernest Michel— lived between 1837 and 1896. This sample has influence from Didot, Scotch Roman and Clarendon (typefaces which were in use at that time). This reinterpretation expands the basic set for the contemporary era. News Gothic No. 2 is an enhanced version of News Gothic produced by the D. Stempel AG type foundry in 1984. Varp is a rather narrow 2-axis variable geometric typeface with slight reverse contrast inspired by utilitarian and technical design. In Slim and Tight styles, the reverse contrast is enhanced. Typeface is adjustable in width, as if by mechanical deformation of proportions, which is often found in technical and transport markings.
