My kids have a tin box filled with crayon and pencil leftovers: bits and pieces that have fallen or broken off, but are still good enough to use. For me it is a treasure trove, as I often find a nice bit of crayon to use for a new font. In this case, I created Leftover Crayon. Prolexia is designed to make the font friendly towards those with dyslexia. All the characters are unique with no rotation or mirroring, this makes it harder for the mind to mix up similar glyphs. Handmade Dropshadow JNL was modeled from lettering found on a vintage silk screened metal sign used for point-of-sale marketing. Before the advent of computers and modern techniques, silk screens were hand cut using material called frisket and knife tools, and the lettering reflected the human inconsistencies of cutting these lettering into the template surface for transfer.

The pattern for this classic typeface was originally called "Viking Oldstyle", from the 1909 H.C. Hansen Type Foundry catalog. To enhance its weathered look, the inside corners have been rounded to simulate ink buildup on metal typeforms. Both versions of the font include 1252 Latin and 1250 CE (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan) character sets.

Instead of being directly based on classic wood or metal type examples, Mule Train JNL takes a roundabout route in its development. Images of a set of letters and numbers cut from plywood (which in turn were based on a vintage type design) served as the work models. In 1913, Leipzig-based foundry C. F. Ruehl released a hot-metal font called Caesar-Schrift which was cut by the engraver and medalist Georg Schiller (1858-1937). This humanist sans combines successfully traditional classic forms with the flowing lines of the Art Nouveau period. Now revived as Caesar Pro, this font was carefully extended and made multilingual.

The Parkway font family was inspired the Parkway Theater marquee in south Minneapolis and the abandoned hotel signage along a strip of U.S. highway running from Tallahassee to Tampa in Florida. The Colville fonts began their existence in 2015 as a project-specific typeface, made to be used on a custom-made headstone commemorating Canadian artist Alex Colville (1920-2013) and his wife Rhoda Wright. For that purpose, some initial shapes were modelled after letters Colville himself had used on a Governor General gold medal he designed in the mid-1970s. From there started a year-long project that culminated in a set of four comprehensive fonts ranging in weight from Light to Bold, each containing over 750 glyphs to cover Pan European language support, stylistic alternates, five sets of figures, automatic fractions, and some ornaments rooted in Alex Colville’s art. These fonts exhibit a strong art deco aesthetic that has always been a favourite of architects, metal casters, and sign makers. This is a very humanist geometry alternating from the precisely calculated to the curvy and lithe, subtle contrast, flat stroke stops, and airy proportions that make for a counterspace built for accommodation and comfort. The breadth and timeless humanism of the Colville set makes fit in a variety of applications, from straightforward headlines, titles, and emphasis captions, to branding and packaging.

ITC New Winchester is a revival of a typeface that never really had a first release. The original Winchester was an experimental design created by the American type designer W.A. Dwiggins in 1944. Dwiggins was interested in improving the legibility of the English language by reducing the number of ascenders and descenders; to do this, he gave Winchester very short descenders and created uncial forms for a number of letters. The result was a distinctive text typeface that was occasionally used by Dwiggins and Dorothy Abbe in handset form. Fifty years later, Indiana type designer Jim Spiece has turned Dwiggins's experiment into a new family of digital text types. Spiece gave New Winchester a bold weight, as well as small caps (both roman and italic) and old style figures; he also created two forms of the lowercase f, one with and one without an overhang (in metal type, a kern), and a full set of f-ligatures.
