When I was a kid, I loved the story of The Boy Who Cried Wolf. I thought it was pretty stupid of the boy to trick the villagers into believing wolves are attacking his flock of sheep. But I also thought it was a bit sad that the sheep are eaten by a wolf in the end. I didn’t really feel sorry for the boy (he really was stupid), nor the wolf (he just does what he is supposed to do in life), but I did feel sorry for those poor sheep. I guess this is what disinformation leads to in the end. Cry Wolf is a bit of a scary font: it was made with a really old and battered brush, using Chinese ink and some quality French paper. It has a slight tilt to the right and I added some inky splatter for dramatic effect. Use Cry Wolf for your book covers, product packaging and headlines; use if to spice up you invitations and your halloween posters. Comes in a slightly tilted Regular style and an outright Italic style.

I always like to make a heart swash font and this is my 7th. Winterfalls is a high quality, smooth, simple script font which is easy to read and ideal for anything romantic and loving. ‘Пивная’ (Pivnaya) means ‘bar’ or ‘brewhouse’ in Russian. Pivnaya Latin is a display font published by Roman Type. Initially designed for a poster, the family quickly turned multi-script. In 2019, the global design community is busy celebrating the centennial of Bauhaus, silently triggering the question as to if or how the phenomenon matters in the lives we lead today, or whether it could rather be reduced to mere historic purposes. At that point, I found myself falling into the Bauhaus trap myself, preparing a typeface design workshop for a group of Lithuanian and Russian students. But by a typing error, I accidently made Google translate ‘Brauhaus’ (brewhouse) instead of ‘Bauhaus’. That is why I called this family ‘Pivnaya’ in the end. Aeonian, designed by Emilia Adorno, was mostly inspired by the iconic morphology adopted by the arts of the 1920s. One hundred years later we can still see the resemblance between the wants and the needs of now and then to reach for the sky, to look ahead and enter the future in style. Now as then, we seek the right tools to do so, then once again, we embrace the rational, yet elegant and stylish forms of simplicity, geometry and symmetry. At the same time, there is a strong and growing need for a warmer approach to creating lovemarks. For that, Aeonian’s alternates hold attractive, soft and inviting shapes to an emotional appeal. Aeonian is a combination of all of them. A rational side entwined with an emotional one. Bohemio was designed in memory of Gunter Böhmer, an artist famous for his many book covers of the 1950s in Germany. The cover I took as an inspiration for this font is that of a book called Stiller (by Max Frisch). Bohemio sounds similar to "Böhmer" (which means the one from Bohemia) and it is also an alliteration to artisty. The design for Granjon was produced at the English branch of Linotype under the direction of George William Jones and appeared in 1928. This reproduction of a Garamond typeface was based on the typeface sample of the Frankfurt font foundry Egenolff from the year 1592 . The roman characters of the sample were made by Claude Garamond and the italic forms were designed by Robert Granjon. Jones made sure that the Granjon font remained true to the original characters of Garamond and Granjon.

Greenwood is a monospaced, cursive typewriter script, based on a typewritten letter from a Mr J. G. Greenwood Esq. to a branch of the National Westminster bank in Oxfordshire, Great Britain, dated 6th June 1904. This uncommon style of typeface is suitable for many tasks as it not only has the functionality of a monospaced font but it has a quirky distinctiveness that lends itself especially well to any setting that requires a decorative font that reads surprisingly well in extended text.

Domotika was first designed for Zetafonts by Cosimo Lorenzo Pancini in 2018, trying to translate the modernist and humanist ideals into typographic form, looking for a conversation between the classical and the contemporary, the hand-made and the technological. Chucara next is the newest font designed by Juan Pablo De Gregorio, a typeface aimed at high readability when set in paragraphs or large chunks of text. Its predecessor "Chúcara", born in 2003, sought after increasing readability by achieving big and simple counterforms. This time around Juan Pablo went further by increasing the X-height and trimming both ascenders and descenders, thus the font appears to be much larger than it is and can be readable at smaller sizes. The DNA of the whole font is marked by the terminal of the "a" character. Juan Pablo used a specially crafted cut to design this counterform, and this shape together with the graceful and winding forms of the letter resembles the form of a horse, hence the name Chúcara, or untamed. The italic version has a 10-degree angle and a 10% condensation, making it way more streamlined than a regular italic font. The Philosophy of a larger counterform is maintained through and through in the italic variant. This version looks different not only due to its inclination, but the sheer effort put into carefully taking care of the condensation and the gestures allow the italic to enrich the texts gracefully, for the highlighting of the words stands out without affecting the grey of the paragraph. Dederon Serif has been specifically designed for book setting. Preliminary sketches were drawn in 2004. Its inspiration – particularly its weight and width proportions – can be traced to the Liberta typeface from the TypoArt type foundry in former Eastern Germany. After a careful study of the model, the design of Dederon branched off into its own direction, finding its distinctive voice and becoming a wholly original type family. Dederon Serif kept most of the elements typical for the Old Style Roman lettering, such as the angle of the stress, the medium x-height, and lower contrast. In large sizes, the typical shapes of the letters stand out – the calligraphic feel characteristic for the Czech typefaces by Oldrich Menhart, the unusual serifs hinting at the angle of the pen, the shapes of the stems, or the terminals of dots and ears. Upon finishing the serif version, a Serif-serif variant called Dederon Serif was added. The construction principles are also derived from the Old Style Roman model, which lends the lettering its open, humanist feel. Yet the design also conforms to the rules of the modern Serif serif. Most characteristics of Dederon Serif match the serif version – the weight of individual cuts, the width proportions, x-height, ascenders' and descenders' length, and the slope of the italics. Each version of Dederon Open Type Std contains the standard Western Latin character set and the Central European characters; a number of basic and accented ligatures, small caps; old style, small caps and caps, table, fraction and superscript numerals; expert glyphs and alternative characters. This brings the total to a comfortable 820 glyphs per weight, permitting truly professional use in the most demanding projects.
