At the end of the 1931 gangster film “The Public Enemy” a hand lettered card offers up an afterword on the demise of Tom Powers (James Cagney’s character in the film) and how a “public enemy” is neither a man nor a character but a problem society must deal with. Atlan—a Latin ‘spin-off’ of classic geometric sans typefaces. Remembering typefaces like ‘Kabel’ by Rudolf Koch, while paying attention to current design needs, was the starting point for ‘Atlan’—a simple, elegant and appealing font. This typeface is based on highly expressive sans-serif geometric fonts of the 1920s. We challenged ourselves to reinterpret these characteristics, without losing expressiveness, in order to create a functional and versatile design. This process resulted in a font with display features, well-suited for light, uniform-coloured texts. The family offers a variety of styles from the elegant Thin weight—ideal for publishing and corporate websites—to the Heavy variant (perfect for logotypes and packaging), which reveals the stylistic elements of the typeface.

The Coast is a Sans Serif type family inspired by enamel signs from the 1920s. The Coast has a large x-height which gives the font a friendly look and guarantees great performance in very small sizes. The Coast family also works great in huge sizes since it has some very special and highly elaborated characters like the small “e” and “g” which distinguishes it from an ordinary Sans Serif. The family includes real small caps, small capital figures, medieval and monospaced lining figures for information in tables. The first version of Libris I designed in London in 1997 when I worked for Frank Magazine. Later Libris was used in the magazine for text and display. In 1999 Libris was chosen as the corporate typeface of Bally Switzerland. I also was involved in the design of the entire branding. Kamerik 205 is inspired by the classic, geometric sans-serifs such as Futura and Avant Garde, but has shallower ascenders and descenders for a more compact look, and features a traditional double-storey lower case a and g. It's a versatile, modern sans, highly legible as a text font and with a clean, elegant look as a display font at larger sizes. It includes old style non-aligning (lower case) numbers, both proportional and tabular as well as accented characters for Central European languages. The Kamerik 205 family comprises of six weights, and is closely related to Kamerik 105. The most notable differences between the two variations, are the two-storey lower case a and g in Kamerik 205, where they are single-storey in Kamerik 105.

Fox is a completely new typeface based on my previously designed Fox family font, which has been in distribution by T26 type foundry since 2001. Old Fox typeface design decisions were reconsidered in a way to improve legibility without sacrificing its originality. This new Fox family consists two subfamilies: Fox TRF and Fox Sans TRF. Fox TRF is upright italic typeface with light, regular and bold weight styles. The most distinguished Fox characteristic is the lowercase letters. Their curly, playful and vivid letter forms were derived from handwritten lettering then carefully shaped and adapted onto sans serif category. Fox typeface is recommended for use as a display font, and has been generated in a single OpenType format with Western CP1252 character set.

German type designer Ole Schäfer created this sans FontFont in 2000. The family has 30 weights, ranging from Regular to Black in Condensed, Normal, and Extended (including italics) and is ideally suited for advertising and packaging, editorial and publishing, logo, branding and creative industries, small text as well as wayfinding and signage. Over the years, I've used Impact a lot. But, not because I liked it—rather because it was the only font I could find with the bulk I needed for a given title or whatever. I finally decided to make my own. It was originally built off Librum Sans Bold, but I quickly made a mask of Impact for the widths, bumped the x-height way up, made the horizontals much heavier, and on and on. You know how it is when you start designing. The result is a black sans with the bulk of Impact and much more interesting character shapes. I suspect I'll use it a lot. Linotype Gotharda is part of the Take Type Library, chosen from contestants of Linotype’s International Digital Type Design Contests of 1994 and 1997. This display font started as an experiment of the Croatian-German designer Milo Dominik Ivir. He wanted to design a font with characteristics of both sans serif and Gothic faces. From the Gothic he took the heavy strokes, the narrow letters, the exaggerated overmatter and the high x-height. The modern standard forms of the letters s, a, x and z, the clear capitals and the lack of serifs are the characteristics taken from sans serif faces. The result is a font with a constructed, old German feel. Linotype Gotharda is intended exclusivley for headlines in large point sizes.
