Experimental and accidental unicase grotesque. A font in which all the letters and numbers fell down and deformed under the force of gravity. Everything that was hanging fell down. Everything that was curved horizontally straightened. The form and principle of construction of each symbol in the font is dictated not by tradition, but by physics. This makes FE Planking 2020 an excellent tool for creating phrases and statements in advertising and art projects that attract attention and make your head spin. The first free version with a minimum set of Latin and Cyrillic alphabets was released in 2019, and in 2020 the font was updated and supplemented with an expanded set of characters. Dedicated to @Serge Rachok, who invented the Planking Game before it was invented by others.

Smart, legible and elegant, Gravesend Sans is a based on the unique typeface used for the iconic grass-green signage for the Southern Railway. In existence from 1923 to 1948, when the network was nationalised, the Southern Railway linked London with the Channel ports, South West England, the South coast resorts and Kent. The same design was also used for the ‘hawkeye’ signs on the London, Midland and Scottish Railway, differentiated by black letters on a yellow background. Reference for each letter was taken from vintage ‘target’ station nameplates and other platform signage. The rarest letters were the Q, seen in Queens Road Battersea, the X, seen in East Brixton, and the Z, used in Maze Hill, site of an infamous train crash in 1958. Being hand-made, the letters often differ in width and thickness. There was no lower case. The Bluebell Railway, a heritage steam line, runs over part of the old Southern Railway network and uses a very similar type. The design of the numbers differed considerably, but here have been taken from the Device 112 Hours font Smokebox. As well identifying platforms, they were used on the front of the steam engine’s smokebox, hence the name, and stylistically are more in keeping with the letters than some of the squarer versions that can be seen in old photographs. William Caslon IV is credited with the first Latin sans-serif type, shown in a 1816 Caslon specimen book. ‘Two Lines English Egyptian’, as it was called, was caps-only, and there are several other correlations between that type design and this one. Includes a selection of authentic arrows and manicules, plus abbreviated ligatures such as ‘St.’ (Saint or Street) ‘Rd.’ (Road) and ‘Jn.’ (Junction). The Cameo version includes many graphic banner elements that can be freely combined.

This font is intended to produce virtually cursive texts without eliminating the clarity or look-and-feel of the individual Arabic letters. Offering glyphs for the full Extended Arabic Unicode Standards 6.1, including the latest Arabic Supplement and Extended-A Unicode blocks, Nuyork Arabic incorporates comprehensive support for Quranic texts and other Arabetic scripts, including African sub-Saharan scripts. Careful design considerations were given to make sure that composed Arabetic text is visually prominent and stands well next to Latin. Soft-vowel diacritic marks (harakat) are selectively positioned, with most of them appearing on similar high and low levels to clearly distinguish them from the letters. Tatweel, or Kashidah, is a zero-width glyph. Arabetics Latte includes both Arabic and Arabic-Indic numerals. We wanted to start with Caslon and then transform it into an editorial typeface, hence the increase of the x-height and the radical reduction of the ascenders and descenders. Despite the Display, Headline and Text fonts we also wanted to make a single weight Poster version with, inspired by the mechanical script introduced in the Double-Pica Script, to be used in magazines or as a complementary display typeface.
