The Midsole SC Family finds its origin of inspiration in the CONVERSE shoe company logo, or an older version of their logo, and from there we expanded it into a 40 font family of weights, widths, and obliques. Midsole pays homage to the styling of the earlier logotype, including unicase variations to match the original look, while further evolving beyond the brand inspiration to yield a family that pulls on modern and historical styles. It adopts a sturdy yet approachable and recognizable style with its uniform stroke forms and curves, and goes on to include smallcaps, numerals, and a comprehensive range of weights, creating a straightforward, uncompromising collection of typefaces that lend a solid foundation and a broad range of expression for designers. Stevens Titling refers to the classic Roman alphabet as it appears on the Trajan column and numerous other monuments. With its realistic brush strokes, it shows the letterforms as they might have been sketched on the marble before the stonecutter reached for his hammer and chisel. The four fonts that constitute the Stevens Titling suite are named after animals — badger, boar, sable and wolf –, each known for the specific character of its hairs when used to make painting brushes. Sable Brush is the most formal and elegant, with solid forms which show no obvious trace of the handdrawn brush stroke; it comes with a set of small capitals for those classical titles preferred by Hollywood. In fact, each of these fonts would do a great job as a film title and poster font. The Badger Brush variant is compact and firm; Boar Brush is dramatic, and in Wolf Brush each part of the letter is made up of realistic, dry strokes.

Spiraltwists is a family of 2 fonts giving assorted spiral shapes. In each font they're grouped in fours - the same basic spiral in 4 different orientations (N S E W almost), and Spiraltwists has solid lines making up the spirals, Spiraltwists Antique has dotted lines making up the spirals, giving them an antique or rustic appearance. Spiraltwists has heavier spirals on Upper Case, lighter spirals on lower case; plus a group of spirals with a straightened outer end and connecting lines so you get two spiral scrolls joined together by a long line at the top or bottom. (inputting UVWXYZ into the text-box on this webpage will show it). The big example on the webpage shows it all more clearly than any explanation. The above-the-store signage for many newspaper stands, soda shops, candy stores, luncheonettes and pharmacies of the 1950s and early 1960s were what was referred to as “privilege signs” provided by one of the major cola brands. Consisting of the brand’s emblems on the left and right, the remainder of the sign would carry the desired message of the storekeeper (such as “Candy – Soda – Newspapers”) in prismatic, embossed metal letters. Inspired by these vintage signs, Privilege Sign JNL recreates the condensed sans serif lettering style in both regular and oblique versions. The typefaces are solid black, but adding a selected color and a prismatic effect from your favorite graphics program can reproduce the look and feel of those old businesses.

Vary by Olli Meier is a geometric sans serif typeface inspired by Bulgarian Cyrillic. Vary is fun and adaptable and was built with three feelings (variations): classic, modern, and loopy, offering an opportunity for designers to be playful in their creations. The inspiration in Bulgarian Cyrillic is seen mostly in the character “g,” which was inspired by a very uncommon handwritten “?” spotted by the designer in a shop window in Sofia, Bulgaria. When he flipped this design in 180°, the Latin character ‘g’ was born for Vary Another example is the “R” in the modern stylistic set, which was inspired by the handwritten Cyrillic character “?”. Vary is available as a variable font and also comes with 10 preset instances from Hairline to ExtraBlack.

Antique Price Tags JNL is a collection of fifty-two decorative price cards recreating the look and charm of turn-of-the-last-century mercantile shops. The design is a hybrid of the decorative frame and dollar sign of antique price cards spotted in an online auction, and prices modeled from some gummed numerals once made by the Tablet and Ticket Company of Chicago under the brand name “Willson’s Gummed Letters” (after the company’s founder). Also included in the font are blank price cards with only a dollar sign, a cents sign or an empty frame, as well as a solid black frame for creating a backfill color. A companion font is available with the numbers in white on black panel backgrounds.

The Roman alphabet has seen endless variations in interpretations of its classical form, and various wood type styles managed to explore everything from XXX condensed to hyper extended and expanded. This delicate and handsomely proportioned extended Roman was issued by Page Manufacturing Co. in 1872 and released as simply “No. 251” after Page was acquired by Hamilton. It is a rare font to find in print shops, most likely due to the very fine lines that would no doubt be less durable that bolder gothic jobbing fonts. While being quite wide, it still holds the elegant grace of wide Romans such as Craw Modern. This new digitization features a full Western and Eastern European Character set as well as ligatures and alternate characters.

Written with a blunt graphite pen, PiS Coalfield features a scruffy scribbled look, loosely inspired by the expressive handwriting on various posters by Sister Corita Kent, an influential pop artist experimenting with serigraphs in the '60s. There is one set of regular and 4 sets of alternate glyphs for each basic letter programmed to cycle through automatically with the contextual alternate feature (which makes 5 possible versions of each letter). You can also hand-pick the 4 alternate sets if you prefer that of course! A super-lively handwritten look is guaranteed, readability is given in display but also in smaller sizes too! The first version of Libris I designed in London in 1997 when I worked for Frank Magazine. Later Libris was used in the magazine for text and display. In 1999 Libris was chosen as the corporate typeface of Bally Switzerland. I also was involved in the design of the entire branding.
