ITC Mona Lisa was designed by Pat Hickson, a stark and elegant typeface originally drawn in the 1930s by Albert Auspurg. The original drawings were long gone and the surviving metal type was already severely worn when Hickson studied Auspurg's design for his recreation. The result is a typeface which melds the flavor of the 1930s with current design standards. ITC Mona Lisa displays all the suave sophistication of Fred Astaire and Greta Garbo.

AS Palmer Script & Sans This pair was inspired by the spirit of the past, when manual labor was common, and technology was just beginning to develop. It was crafted by hand specially for traditional typography lovers and anyone who want to add natural handmade feeling in brand identity. It comes with Regular and Aged versions that expands its posibilities in use. Opentype features Script font has 151 stylistic alternates and 3 variations of end-swashes with about 10 lengths of each style. Stylistic Alternates. The easiest way to get alternate character is to add number for example 2, 3 or 4 after any Uppercase. Each of them has from two up to five alternates. This combination works with activated Standard Ligatures option in Opentype panel (Photoshop / Illustrator). End-swashes. AS Palmer Script has 3 variants of end-swashes and about 10 lengths of each style. It works like Stylistic Alternates with activated Standard Ligatures in Opentype panel. Just add special combination at the end of the word, to get needed swash element and its length. Underscore, double underscore or slash is swash style. Number is length. For example: _3, __5, /6. Just try, it's easy. AS Palmer Sans - different Double letters. This feature work automatically with activated Contextual Alternates in Opentype panel. The Englishman William Caslon punchcut many roman, italic, and non-Latin typefaces from 1720 until his death in 1766. At that time most types were being imported to England from Dutch sources, so Caslon was influenced by the characteristics of Dutch types. He did, however, achieve a level of craft that enabled his recognition as the first great English punchcutter. Caslon's roman became so popular that it was known as the script of kings, although on the other side of the political spectrum (and the ocean), the Americans used it for their Declaration of Independence in 1776. The original Caslon specimen sheets and punches have long provided a fertile source for the range of types bearing his name. Identifying characteristics of most Caslons include a cap A with a scooped-out apex; a cap C with two full serifs; and in the italic, a swashed lowercase v and w. Caslon's types have achieved legendary status among printers and typographers, and are considered safe, solid, and dependable. Carol Twombly designed this Caslon revival for Adobe in 1990, after studying Caslon's own specimen sheets from the mid-eighteenth century. This elegant version is quite true to the source, and has been optimized for the demands of digital design and printing. Adobe Caslon? makes an excellent text font and includes just about everything needed by the discriminating typographer: small caps, Old style Figures, swash letters, alternates, ligatures, expert characters, central European characters, and a plethora of period ornaments.

The extremely narrow Robotik was created by the British typeface designer David Quai and appeared with ITC in 1989. The figures are robust and strong and form tightly packed, bar-like lines. The characters' slim, narrow and angular forms suggest mechanical exactness and cool distance. The similarity of the forms are also reminiscent of machinery and the letters form chains of words. The form principle shows parallels with the constructivism of Moscow after the First World War. Robotik is best used for headlines in large point sizes.

Tosca is a very elegant and decorative typeface with 730 glyphs. I put a second set of capital letters in the places of the smallcaps. So just type the word in lowercase, then select the first letter and convert it to smallcap in the OpenType menu. I also give you a ton of ligatures that can be accessed via OpenType. Yalta Sans combines the warmth of a traditional humanist design, the clarity of a grotesque and the modernity of a square sans. Several design traits contribute to this melding of diverse typographic concepts. Characters find their foundation in stroke-based shapes rather than constructed forms. Curve stokes are also slightly squared and counters are open. Curved strokes join verticals at nearly right angles to create a strong horizontal stress, aiding the reading process. The resulting design is exceptionally legible while still inviting. Although Yalta Sans is clearly differentiated from its calligraphic ancestors, many details of the design emulate the distinctive characteristics of typefaces from the Renaissance. Tapering horizontal stokes also give Yalta Sans a dynamic relationship with linear grotesque while its angled stroke terminals echo the work of a calligraphic brush Yalta Sans italics are cursive designs that are in keeping with humanistic letterforms and are markedly narrower than the Roman characters. Lining and old style figures, small caps and a suite of ligatures also make for a remarkably versatile typeface family.

The Siseriff family of types contains nine different styles, which were developed by the master Swedish typographer Bo Berndal in 2002. Siseriff is a contemporary slab serif face. Except for the Siseriff Black weight, all of the letters display a slightly condensed appearance that is coupled with a relatively uniform width throughout the alphabet. Siseriff's nine styles are distributed across five weights (Light, Regular, Semi Bold, Bold and Black). The Italic companions for these styles (Siseriff Black does not have an italic companion) are true italics. These redrawn italics add a higher degree of differentiation from the Roman weights than could be achieved with obliques alone. Many common Slab Serif families (e.g., Serifa) do not offer this degree of differentiation. This variety makes Siseriff the perfect choice for journalistic and editorial work, where a good hierarchy may be achieved solely by relying on the various weights available, and their italics. All nine styles of the Siseriff family are part of the Take Type 5 collection from Linotype GmbH."

Relato Sans is the other face of Relato Serif (a typeface with much idiosyncrasy) nevertheless, the sans version of this typeface is more austere and aseptic. A humanistic type, with a contemporary cut, created for general use in texts and holders and with a great variety of weights, which allow enough flexibility for projects of great magnitude. Although leading with an independent family it maintains many of the characteristics of its homologous such as proportions, the “x” height, the construction based on air lines of the italic, ornaments and so on. These details show coherence with the serif version, and at the same time reinforce its personality. Being a multifunctional type, the “kerning” has been worked to function in small sizes as well as in larger ones such as holders. The contrast between weights, was optimized to be used in pairs (Light with Semibold, Regular with Bold and Medium with Black). Relato Sans is presented in 6 different weights, in Roman, Italic, Small Caps and Small Caps Italic with three different styles of numerals, Old style figures, Lining figures and Small Caps figures.

Some years ago, a good friend and typophile, Gonzalo García Barcha, approached me with the idea of designing a typeface for his editorial project Blacamán Ediciones. He had just came across an hitherto unknown manuscript by Luis Lagarto, a colonial illuminator and scribe, working in Mexico City and Puebla in the late 1500s. The manuscript calligraphy was incredible and stunningly original. It featured three different hands by the scribe, intermingled in the text: a kind of baroque «Roman» roundhand; a very ornate, lively «Italic»; and some sort of irregular, playful, even funny «small caps». All imbued with an eccentric, convoluted zest and vivacious rhythm. Lagarto is the final result of translating these extraordinary hands into a digital type family. Since the manuscript had no numerals, math signs and many other characters now in use, part of the fun of the job was to infer them from the stylistic peculiarities of Luis Lagarto's calligraphy. Lagarto received an Award of Excellence at the Type Directors Club of New York annual competition.

Based on the 1922 Klingspor model by German designer Rudolf Koch, this hand-drawn quill roman has an informal and curiously delicate appearance. The typeface was known in Germany as Koch Antiqua and in the rest of Europe as Locarno. Eve, as it was called in the United States, continues to enjoy great popularity in advertising and book publishing circles. This deluxe version includes display light, display heavy, and display black as well as the hard-to-find display light and heavy (Koch Kursiv) italics. Eva-Paramount, which is based on Morris Benton's 1928 ATF Paramount, has also been included. It contains a set of alternates characters that are in keeping with the light and heavy display letter styles. Eva-Antiqua is also available in the OpenType Std format. Alternates are now merged together into each style as stylistic alternates or as swashes. These advanced features currently work in Adobe Creative Suite InDesign, Creative Suite Illustrator, and Quark XPress 7. Check for OpenType advanced feature support in other applications as it gradually becomes available with upgrades.

I’m not trying to be sarcastic or ironic. But after looking at fridge magnets, postcards, posters and stickers with clever words about love and happiness, I suddenly found them all cheesy. You may have guessed it by now: I’m not into clever words like those…but I do respect if they brighten someones’s life. This font, however, was made to brighten people’s life by being great as a soft, handmade and organic headline font! Use for your favourite quotes, or whatever needs a legible and clear presentation!
