The origins of the font Versailles go back to the 19th century in France when, with the introduction of lithography, alphabets could contain freer forms. The basic forms are Modern Face with triangular serifs. The direct influence for Versailles was the writing on the back of the memorial to Charles Garnier, the architect of the Paris Opera. Versailles is a classic font for advertisements, perfect for shorter texts and titles/headlines and it makes an impression of elegance and strength.

This font is a latin based version of the ogham alphabet used in the writing of the old irish language. It can be used on Latin keyboards. The etymology of the word ogam or ogham remains unclear. One possible origin is from the Irish og-úaim 'point-seam', referring to the seam made by the point of a sharp weapon.

Danah” is the first name of a very close and cherished classmate, friend, and peer. Danah is a Palestinian woman who used to study with me in the same university where I was honorably introduced to her several years ago. Set of ornaments based on the decorative motifs used by the first typographic workshop in Buenos Aires: “Imprenta de Niños Expósitos”, between 1780 and 1824. This set is the product of an extensive historical research that aims to identify the type that came from Europe to the City during colonial times, and during the first years of Argentina’s independence. This group has a lot of diversity, which fluctuates between organic baroque forms and geometric neoclassical. Its characters can be used in editorial design along with Roman typefaces, they work individually or grouped to form different figures, guards or frames. It was baptized in honor to the first printer who worked in the workshop: the Spanish Agustín Garrigós.

Regina-Cursiv is a warm, bold, casual typeface. Its friendly, rounded curves remind me of the line from a gospel song by the Canton Spirituals, about "smoothin' up the roughway." Jointly released by the Bauer and Berthold foundries of Germany during the fin-de-siecle period, this typeface has some cultural flexibility. There are alternate versions of the uppercase ‘H’ and ‘I’ that can be chosen to reflect a humanist or blackletter tradition, whichever you prefer. Other alternates offer various stylistic choices. Made in La Chaux-de-Fonds (Switzerland), Hyper Top is born while the designer (Bisou) watches "One from the Heart", a movie from Francis Coppola where Las Vegas is completely rebuilt in studio. The opening scene stages the signboard of the Dunes hotel and casino. This is the starting point of the most modern font ever designed by Bisou. France 1727, the book Le chemin Royal de la Croix is published. Centuries later the historical publication comes into the hands of Josep Patau, who uses its printed pages as a reference for a new digital typeface. Previously created for printing, those shapes adapt now to the screen and show the sophistication and authenticity of true Garalde types. Frenchute is a multipurpose typeface with 3 optical sizes. All the shapes were modified to cover different typographic needs. The diagonal axis and the moderate stroke contrast are taken further in the italics letterforms, where the design is far more expressive. Made in La Chaux-de-Fonds (Switzerland), Hyper Schlag is born while the designer drinks a beer with friends. One of his fellow beverage partner wears a sweatshirt written in embroidery. The text is quite clumsy, at least this is what he saw. This is how the most spontaneous font ever designed by Bisou is born. Hyper Schlag is thought from ground up to give a strong feeling of friendliness. Clumsy, naive, playful, this handwriting font is best suitable slogans of sweet revolution. Even though the phrase Art Nouveau originated in Paris at the shop of Siegfried Bing, the French preferred to call it Le style moderne. This very sinuous, very Art Nouveau typeface was designed by an E. Mulier around 1894, probably also in Paris. The organic, vine-like curve forms are frequently seen in the art of the period. Examples include the architecture of Victor Horta, the furniture of Henry van de Velde and the jewelry of Max Gradl. Sodra is a wide-accented antiqua with sharp serifs and hints of futuristic forms. This typeface emerged from a passage in the Manifesto del Futurismo by Filippo Tommaso Marinetti. A little-known design by Futura designer Paul Renner gets a long overdue update by Linda Hintz and Toshi Omagari, in this reliable and impactful industrial sans serif. Neue Plak offers more weights and widths than the original 1928 design, extending its use for branding, editorial, logos and UIs. The pair based their updated and extended version on the original Plak wood type, uncovering lost details and incorporating them as alternates – including the choice between open or strikethrough counters. Neue Plak's outwardly stubborn personality is counteracted by unexpected details, which make for an unusual juxtaposition of severe and playful. “It felt like we should pay Paul Renner more tribute,” says Hintz, who spent time researching the typeface in Hamburg's Museum der Arbeit. “The forms themselves are partly quirky, partly really fun, but with a German stiffness that makes for a strange mix.” Neue Plak offers 60 weights, including a new text version that pairs well with the display weights, and allows the design to function in print and digital environments, and for a wide range of uses. The Vondelpark is the famous Amsterdam city park, 47 hectares stretching out from Leidseplein to the Amstelveenseweg. It was founded in 1864 when a group of well-to-do Amsterdam citizens got together and bought land at the (then) edge of the city centre in order to create a park ‘for riding and strolling’. Designed by architect J.D. Zocher, it opened officially in 1865. The park received its name two years later when a statue of Dutch writer Joost van den Vondel was placed in the park. In the 1960s and 1970s the Vondelpark became a symbol and epicenter of the hippie flower power era. The park was declared a state monument in 1996. Donald DBXL was intrigued by the handmade iron nameplate lettering on the park’s entrance gates, and decided to design VLNL Vondelpark in its glory. The somewhat clumsy iron letters were not revived as is but optimized to turn it into a useful typeface. The all-caps serif with a deliberate constructed feel, contains a Positional Open Type feature that places half circles on the vertical stems, at the beginning and end of a word, to enliven the rhythm.
