Rameau for classic elegance The type family Rameau™ was designed by Sarah Lazarevic She started with the italics; these she derived from the manuscript of the opera Les fêtes de l´hymen et de l´amour", the music for which was composed by Jean-Philippe Rameau in 1747. In the 18th century, musical compositions were published in the form of impressions from copper plates that had been hand-engraved in contrast with books and other texts, which were printed from moveable lead type. The italic letters of Rameau include many ligatures and are thus typical of the engraving style of the period. Rameau exhibits much of the harmonious rhythm associated with genuine manuscript. The marked Antiqua contrasts make the pages on which the font is used quite literally sparkle. This effect is enhanced by the excessively sharp terminals and the prominent serifs of the upper case letters. This highly legible and stylish type family can be used for printing high quality books, invitations, menus and all kinds of texts - anywhere the grace and elegance of France in the 18th century is to be invoked."

Buckthorn is a genus of about 110 species of shrubs and small trees, native to North America and Asia. Its uses are varied: it is used for dye, oil, printing ink and oil. That concludes the botany class for today, on with Buckthorn ‘The Font’. Buckthorn is a handmade typeface with a lot of character. It is severely eroded, giving your designs an authentic look. It comes in 4 styles, including a ‘hollow’ style, plus a dingbat font with very nifty shapes. Buckthorn is quite a pleasing font and comes with a rich harvest of diacritics.

The Waldorfschrift family was created in digital form in the years 1993-1994 by Joachim Frank, inspired by the naturally organic letters from the anthroposophical movement of the 20th century of Rudolf Steiner . In nature there are no right angles, straight lines or complete uniformity, but instead round corners, varying thicknesses and all kinds of variability. This is what the anthroposophical movement created in their buildings, their art, in their music – and also in their lettering. And this Font is like the plants in nature: it grows upwards, branches out, letters hugs to some letters, with others they keeps more distance, some letters proudly stretch their belly, others crouch in the corner - a completely natural font. Take a look at the brand of Weleda (the natural cosmetics company), Demeter (one of the biggest organic foods companies), Filderklinik (a great anthroposophical hospital in Germany) and you will see these great companies work with different but organic letter styles. More recently, Joachim revisited the Waldorf fonts with modern type design software and added extra characters such as the euro sign, and extra weights to make the fonts useable for a wide variety of design tasks. Dez 21: A big update: All fonts have been digitized again and given a complete character set, new kerning, minor bugs removed.

I hope that you enjoy the "Linden" font. The basis for this new font is my Leaf font. As much as I love the Leaf font, however, I felt (and still feel) the desire to have a larger font, for three reasons: 1. I enjoy customizing my internet browser to show different fonts. The original "Leaf" font was a bit too small for that. The new "Linden" font is perfect for this function. 2. Some of the fonts that I use in writing e-mails look their best at sizes 24 or 36. That’s fine for me, but unless I want to go to the trouble each time of changing the size, then the recipients oft my e-mails get wolloped with an enormous-sized font. When I use "Linden" for my e-mails, it’s automatically a perfect size at 12 or 14, solving this problem. 3. I also enjoy customizing the font in which I read my e-mails. Unfortunately, there are only a few which are legible in the tiny size in which this is configured. Again, "Linden" is configured to be large enough automatically so that it can easily be read by anyone. I am pleased to offer a pleasant font for use in any or all of the scenarios; I love fun solutions and hope that you will enjoy the "Linden" font. (Just a tip: when printing out documents using the "Linden" font, I love it best in font size 11!)

In the 1920 edition of “How to Paint Signs and Sho’ Cards” by E. C. Matthews is an example of what is termed “poster lettering” that is so free form and unusual it borders on the eccentric. Resembling lettering more commonly found in 1960s “underground comics” of the Hippie generation rather than of the Art Nouveau period, it oddly enough works well in both styles. This novelty typeface is now available as Hippie Comics JNL in both regular and oblique versions.

Everybody likes to have a picnic: some fresh fruits, cheese, ham, wine and so on. Like a “typographic picnic,” Typnic font system gathers many fonts with different flavors too, and you can enjoy them mixed or on their own. Typnic was drawn and calligraphed by hand and is made with eighteen typefaces, including three totally compatible yet different styles. The Augsburger Family is a product of the Art Nouveau period in Germany and Austria, reflecting the darker, heavier Jugendstil approach typical of the Secession movement in these two countries. Originally released by H. Berthold AG of Berlin and Bauer & Co. of Stuttgart in 1902, Augsburger has been attributed to the designer Peter Schnorr. This current version represents a year-long revision of the Augsburger Family. All three fonts have been updated to eliminate duel encoding, harmonize metrics, and review all glyphs. In addition, the following features have been included in the individual fonts: Augsburger Schrift: a total of 249 glyphs have been added, for a total of 467 and an increase of 114%. New are Tabular Numbers, Small Caps, a variety of Ligatures and the refinement of all accents. Augsburger Initials: complete redesign of upper case, inclusion of upper case from Schrift instead of lower case, plus inclusion of small caps and a selection of appropriate ligature. Augsburger Ornamente: includes some additional glyphs. Augsburger may be purchased as a complete family or as individual fonts. Each font package includes both TTF and OTF versions to allow you to select what is most useful to you.

Fer is a sans-serif font for body text, not lacking in its own distinctive voice. The aftertaste of reading the text set in Fer is like reading the letters on old rusty plates somewhere in Southern Europe, hence the name (Fer means iron in French). Being a modern system that includes a variable font with weight and optical size axes, Fer combines the features of geometriс sans serifs and old sans serifs with closed apertures. The typeface contains three sets of styles: for captions, text and headings, — with the weight ranging from regular to black. Fer was created with the idea to unite nations. The Latin character set supports all European languages, most African languages and Vietnamese. Cyrillic has support for all living Cyrillic languages and some obsolete characters too. The font also supports the Greek language. Additionally, the character set includes currency signs of all supported languages’ countries, old style, lining, tabular and proportional figures as well as numbers in squares and circles.
