Nogoom was inspired by the titles of Egyptian Magazine ALOSTUDIO, which used to be published during the 50s-60s. The typeface is part of Arsheef Alkhatt Project, a platform that revives and tributes classical Arabic lettering from different resources and presents them as affordable, digital fonts for independent designers. Nogoom means stars in Arabic, hence the name. Note: The font uses an Opentype feature for the connections that are not supported by MyFonts tester, but it works properly with all Adobe CS softwares.

Ribbonetter is an experimental font playing with the calt or contextual alternatives feature of OpenType. This feature alternates letters in ovals with letters in hourglass shapes to create a banner. The letters in the ovals will be determined by the start of the line, whether it starts by typing an upper-case or lower-case letter. Using layers, background color can be added (dot accent and ring characters) or the outline color can be changed (sterling and yen characters). The font may also be useful with the contextual alternatives turned off. Different amounts of character spacing may give interesting results. With default character spacing, ovals with will overlap. If you are typing numbers and want the start to be an oval, switch on OpenType style set 2. In at least one word processor (Pages 5 for Macintosh) the carriage return adds the shape assigned to the space character. If you encounter this, try adding a nonbreaking space (option-space on the Macintosh) before the carriage return.

The font family "DEADman" is mostly inspired by the weird style of the British illustrator Ralph Steadman. He had a long partnership with the American journalist Hunter S. Thompson, drawing pictures for several of his articles and books e.g. "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas." Like Steadman's artwork all the letters are painted with ink. When Patricia Lillie was growing up, she thought the coolest thing in the world would be finding her own name listed in a library catalog. The fantasy came true in 1986 when her first children's book was published. Five more followed. Based on the lettering used on Alan Turing’s famous code-breaking machine at Bletchley Park, the “Bombe”, and the subsequent British answer to the German Enigma machine, the Typex. Research done at Bletchley Park on their restored and antique machines provided the inspiration. The unusual shapes for the capitals have all been retained - the square O, the monospaced characters and other eccentricities that make it unique. This reference material was then extended to the numerals (which did not exist in the original) and a full international character complement. The initial design of the bombe was produced in 1939 at the UK Government Code and Cypher School (GC&CS) at Bletchley Park by Alan Turing, with an important refinement devised in 1940 by Gordon Welchman.
