The starting point is a humanistic sanserif, to which are added external references: design pieces, furniture, buildings. Architects shape our world with the intention to reconnect nature, human and address a perfect functionality. Not so far to typeface design which combines a personal vision and ensures good legibility in a certain context. Audace — like the works of those artists, designers, architects — is clearly influenced by the tension of the line, the play with negative space, the dynamics, the surprise, the nature that will influence the shapes of the letters. So if a v is asymmetrical, and the y based on similar asymmetry but in reverse, these two shapes help to distinguish from one to the other. This is a consequence of the influence of forms from design and art in the design of the Audace. And this small example illustrates the confrontations of the designer’s influences: the search for the most unique shapes, but without compromising on function: to be read, to be legible, even at very small size in the worst conditions. Fun Signs JNL comprises twenty-six humorous signs from a 1930s-era sales list of products manufactured by the Koehler Sign Company of St. Louis, Missouri. Koehler manufactured a large line of stock cardboard "Blue Signs" (presumably blue backgrounds with white lettering) and alongside the many standard phrases used by various businesses was a list of funny sayings. Such placards were bought by merchants to either evoke interest in their services (such as in a bar or restaurant, or jokingly comment on their business policies (as in credit billing). These novelty signs are a fun addition to a flier, ad, web page or announcement and will leave your readers smiling.

I read something interesting the other day: in 1910 a cat called Kiddo snuck on board an airship and was found by aeronaut Walter Wellman - after he had already taken off in an attempt to cross the Atlantic Ocean. Wellman and Kiddo spent 71 hours aboard the airship, but never completed the journey, due to engine problems and foul weather. Luckily, they were both rescued. It was a funny story, so I decided to name a font after it. Reluctant Aviator is a handmade font (pen and paper). It has a rough edge, some shaky glyphs and a lot of bravado. Comes with diacritics and swashes.

The name Moreske, Maureske, Morisca, Morisco comes from Spanish “Mauritanian”. This ornament is based on the greenery motif with strongly stylized stems and leaves fancifully interlacing. Such ornaments were widely used in the 16th century in various decorations from architecture to household goods, and book covers in particular. The font contains high quality vector graphics with elaborate attention to details. This collection consists of friezes (borders) and closed compositions in the shape of circles, squares, rectangles and triangles that can be organized into repeats (patterns). "Soup Du Jour" is French and simply means "Soup Of the Day" - may not sound interesting, but I can tell you that I have had several tasty soup of the day served. I wanted to make a font that resembles that feeling of not really knowing what you get served, but you got a feeling that it is something good! YomTov is a whimsical hebrew font. Traditional in design with a free spirit and slightly bounced. Hebrew alphabets contain 22 Hebrew letters along with five final letters which are automatically activated when used in Applications such as Apple Pages® and MicroSoft Word®. The Hebrew Letters do not contain cantillation marks very much used in everyday modern Hebrew. Designed with acomplete latin font that mirror the Hebrew letterforms. This ornamental font is the interpretation of ornaments of Trypillya culture. Trypillya culture, or Cucuteni-Trypillya is an archaeological culture of neolithic times. Its name derives from the name of the village of Trypillya nearby Kyiv. This culture experienced its culmination between 5500 and 2750 BC. The Trypillians lived in the territories between the Carpathian Mountains and the Dniper River of the modern Ukraine, Moldova and Romania. Many interesting ceramics decorated with original geometric ornaments survived to amaze us. Its heritage is still a little unknown to the public and therefore the patterns that are reproduced in this font have no analogues in the digital format.

Blossomy is a pictographic font consisting of 72 plant and flower illustrations, designed by kapitza. The font explores the beauty of shapes and structures in nature. The illustrations are based on photographs which have been traced by hand and are the result of a long term interest in the organic and erratic lines of naturally growing plants. The idea for Blossomy originated several years ago via a series of paintings exploring forms and structures in nature. The outlines for those paintings were traced in Illustrator and then transferred onto canvas. The outcome was so simple and beautiful that the designers decided to keep working on new illustrations and combine them in a font. Blossomy can be used as individual illustrations or to create patterns. The font covers a wide variety of flora and fauna, including pot flowers, a bonsai trees, leaves, blooms and grasses, and gives creatives a wide variety of shapes to get inspired by and use in their work.

Celestina is the lively spirit, just like drops of ink on a piece of paper or clouds in the sky. The same spirit is maintained by the rounded letters of the script and by the characters' small whorls. Celestina has come to life as a result of a peculiar game in which I tried to bring together the letters with different tempers with help of calligraphic instruments. I wanted to create a very light and playful font which would look like a quick inscription on a piece of paper, but would also be easy to read in a text array. As I was working on the font, my cat Celestina has been very interested in the brush painting process, and I had no other option but to name the font after her! Jubilee is a glyphic font family with moderate stress, slightly inclined serifs, and storied history. Its original design was created in 1934 by famous English type designer Eric Gill for the Stephenson Blake type foundry. The development name was “Gill Text,” but this was changed to “Cunard” once the famous steamship company showed interest in using the typeface. The company, however, never utilized it. Stephenson Blake changed the name to Jubilee in 1935 to commemorate George V and Queen Mary’s Silver Jubilee Wedding Anniversary announcement. After International TypeFounders, Inc. acquired the exclusive rights to the Stephenson Blake collection, Paul Hickson (P&P Hickson) and Steve Jackaman (ITF) revived the family exclusively for the Red Rooster Collection in 1994. A new, Medium weight was created to accompany the original Light and Bold weights. Jubilee has an inscribed, Renaissance feel, and performs well at all sizes. Grand Slam is based on an old cardwriting style known as Poster Gothic. This dynamic letterstyle was used in the heyday of the Hollywood movie poster because of its powerful and snappy appeal. The face is of uniform thickness and made as wide as possible without interfering with legibility. Its vertical strokes seem to be thickened slightly where normal serifs would be. I have named the font “Makonde” after an tribal group in southeast Tanzania and northern Mozambique that is well known for their intricate and semi-realistic wood carvings. The patterns that decorate the Makonde font remind me of the Makonde wood carvings. The Makonde font is a useful resource for anyone creating designs or producing text that has African look. Typified by a stark African angularity the characters reflect the ethos of Africa. Each Makonde font contains the full range of upper and lower case characters, all punctuation and special characters as well as the accented characters used in the major European languages. The Makonde tribal group is of historical interest because FRELIMO, the resistance movement which ended Portugese colonialism in East Africa, originated in the homeland of the Makonde. The character shapes in the Makonde font are very similar to those in a style of Umkhonto called Umkhonto Wide. Using Umkhonto together with Makonde gives the designer enormous flexibility.
