Magma is a rare sans serif typeface family designed explicitly for use in both text and display applications. Pompeian Cursive is a calligraphically-inspired display typeface featuring a limited number of alternate characters and a handful of graceful ligatures. A lively set of non-lining numerals accompanies, as well as a few calligraphically-inspired flourishes for ornament. The history of this typeface: Oswald Cooper’s relationship with the Barnhart Brothers & Spindler foundry was one instigated under the auspices of creating new styles of type in lieu of following stylistic trends. In 1927, BB&S requested that Cooper create a script-like cursive typeface design in step with Lucien Bernhard’s Schoenschrift and ATF’s similarly-styled Liberty typeface. In response to BB&S’s desire to emulate instead of innovate, Cooper wrote to Mcarthur, “I am desolated to see Barnhart’s hoist the black flag. Your own efforts through the years to boost the foundry into a place in the sun as an originator seem wasted.” Still, Cooper took up the task at hand, creating a delicate, sophisticated type design which he named Pompeian Cursive. The typeface featured a limited number of alternate characters and a handful of graceful ligatures. A lively set of non-lining numerals accompanied, as well as a few calligraphically-inspired flourishes for ornamenting the end of lines of type accompanied the typeface, as well. After visiting Milan, I stumbled upon the Sforza castle, and found some interesting type on the inner courtyard castle walls. I became inspired by what I found, and decided to design a typeface based off of the limited quirky letterforms. Thus Sforza was born, with ligatures galore, alternates, pictograms, and swooshes. Sforza is a roman style typeface with a quirky flair. It has loads of ligatures, nested letterforms, and tails and swooshes for endless combinations.

The Rosetta Stone, or Rashid Stone, was accidentally found by a French soldier during an excavation in the fortification of Egypt. The stone was inscribed in three languages, intended to be sent to three major Egyptian temples. These languages are: Demotic (the language used by the people in Egypt), Hieroglyphic and Ancient Greek. This font contains ancient greek.

This cuddly face is based very loosely on Dave Farey's Beesknees. This version is a little more regimented but no less fun, and is notable for the addition of a lower case, not found in Farey's design. This font contains the complete Latin language character set (Unicode 1252) plus support for Central European (Unicode 1250) languages as well.

Baraquiel is based on an interesting style of calligraphic script we found in a turn-of-the-century magazine ad. It is much more acutely slanted than most scripts, and has pretty dramatic variations in weight. Nonetheless it has high readability and works well in combination with many of our text fonts, particularly Evadare and Albemarle.

A friend bought me a Chinese calligraphic brush set in a beautifully decorated box. I started to letter the alphabet on parchment, in my own hand, using quick strokes and found the resulting script had an interesting energy to it. After further refinement in my font application software 'Swordtail' was born. A great free-hand script.

This typeface appeared in the William H. Page Woodtype specimen book as Gothic Tuscan Condensed Reversed—quite a mouthful. The Fontazia Stiletto font was inspired by my personal obsession with shoes. Eckhardt Poster Deco JNL is a continuation of a series of sign painter's fonts, and was modeled from a lettering example found within the pages of an old sign design manual. It is named, as always, in honor of the late Albert Eckhardt, Jr., the owner of Allied signs in Miami, Florida and Jeff Levine's good friend.

I must admit that I am not a big fan of the Art Nouveau style. However, I found this particularly beautiful alphabet and decided to use it as the basis for this new font. Very graceful, elegant, and dare I say, organic. Includes some intertwined ligatures. Complete uppercase, numerals, basic punctuation. Supports most Western European languages.

Karolina is a calligraphic serif font. It is inspired by Edward Johnstons (1872–1944) calligraphy and the foundational hand (which was based on the carolingian letters and therefore the name Karolina). The Uppercase letters are based on the perfect proportioned roman capitals. Karolina is a classic and clean typeface with smooth shapes that will give an elegant touch to your projects. It is suitable for formal use and works well both for headlines and as body text in smaller sizes.

Dom was designed by Peter Dombrezian for American Type Founders in 1951–52. It is an informal unjoined script typeface that looks brushwritten. Its letters are almost monotone, freely or casually drawn. Vertical strokes of them have irregular ending at different heights, and oval axis have slightly different slopes. This typeface is to create a friendly, informal look in signs, advertising, and invitations. The Cyrillic version of the Bitstream digital font was developed by Dmitry Kirsanov for ParaType in 2008.

Grandezza Xtra is the standalone version of my most elaborate script. It is the script for many countries, good for Basic Latin, Latin Eastern Europe, Turkish, Baltic. I first designed 5 different sets and now this Xtra version which has a second set of capitals in the place of the smallcaps. This Xtra set is sufficient for most design jobs. Morris Fuller Benton's Hobo [designed in 1910] is one of a number of fonts which have been so over-used that many designers shy away from it altogether. However, Jeff Levine had often wondered what the design might look like it given a serif treatment. The result is Rail Bum JNL, named for the hobos and transients who hitched along on freight cars to ride the rails across the country during the years when trains were the mainstay of American transportation.

The first Century typeface was cut in 1894 by Linn Boyd Benton in conjunction with T L DeVinne for the Century Magazine. It was a blacker, more readable face than the type previously used. Morris Fuller Benton designed the Century Expanded version in 1900 for American Type Founders to meet the Typographical Union Standard of the day. The 'expansion' was in the vertical plane. Century Expanded is a useful font family for text setting in magazines, books, presentations and newsletters.

A thin Roman typeface with slab serifs shown in various editions of the American Type Founders’ Specimen Book as either Lining Antique or Lining Central Antique was the model for Specimen Book JNL which is available in both regular and oblique versions. This is the 1700th design released by Jeff Levine Fonts since its inception in January, 2006 and was named Specimen Book JNL to celebrate the era when metal type and letterpress were the modern technology of their time.

Bernhard Modern was designed by Lucian Bernhard and was first cut by American Type Founders. Bernhard Modern is an unusual face with small lowercase but very tall ascenders and short descenders. Bernhard Modern was intended to hold its color and contrast without depending on the spread of ink of the letterpress method. It has an attractive pen drawn quality which has made it a popular choice for invitations and greetings cards. The Bernhard Modern font is useful for advertising and display work.

Script font developed for ParaType in 2007 by Gennady Fridman based on informal handwriting. The handwriting belongs to a woman of middle class that have found her place in the life and does not pretend to get more. It produces a feeling of reliability and promptness. In October 2010 I released a font called “Zanoix” It was based upon a an old horror movie poster. I looked through and old folder, and found the font that served as a base for this the grungy font. Zonaix is opposite to Zanoix, because it is super clean, pointy and is made entirely of straight lines! With the sharp pointed serifs and whacky lines, it is a good choice for a legible seriffed font - not necessarily for anything scary!

Useful for newspaper and magazine headlines, a must for all kinds of impacting posters. Header includes hybrid glyphs encoded where small caps are normally found.
