Another of my hand drawn originals now digitized. It started out as a very bold, decorative initial capital letter - a 'font within a font' - but got extended to the full alphabet.

Mancunium is a sans serif family with a contemporary monolinear character, though designed with the iconic proportions of Roman capitals in mind. In addition to reliable romans, the typeface includes proper, optically corrected italics. Also, uniquely, a set of ‘vertalics’ that contain the more script-like glyphs of the italics with angled stem terminals, but which are unslanted and upright in aspect, and without the slight narrowing of the italics. Nebulosa font family has been designed for Graviton Font Foundry by Pablo Balcells in 2020. It is a futuristic, slightly extended sans serif typeface with semi rounded endings that provide a softened aesthetic without losing its solidity. Nebulosa has been conceived to be most suitable for logos, headlines and display design pieces as well as short length text blocks. Nebulosa consists of 10 styles, 8 of which containing small caps and glyph coverage for several language and 2 of which are free.

»Supra« – designed by Gert Wiescher in 2012/13 – is a new sans typeface family of eight weights with matching italics. Supra is influenced by current and past sans typefaces, but has a completely new look. The pleasant flow and warm touch combined with great legibility makes Supra unique. The light and normal weights and the dominant x-height with its high ascenders make for easy reading of long copy. The heavy and x-light weights are great for elegant headlines. Supra is an OpenType family for professional typography with an extended character set of over 700 glyphs. It supports more than 40 Central- and Eastern-European as well as many Western languages. Ligatures, different figures, fractions, currency symbols and smallcaps can be found in all cuts.

In August 1930, Jan Tschichold described a new typeface, that is "producable by everybody without further knowledge" in the publication Börsenblatt für den Deutschen Buchhandel. Sebastian Nagel has extended the original drawing to 7 weights (black, extrabold, bold, semibold, regular, semilight and light), with full coverage of the Latin 1 character set. All fonts also include small caps and alternate characters.

ITC Ironwork is the work of Serge Pichii, who was inspired by a piece of decorative lettering done by Jan Tschichold in the early 1920s. Tschichold had interlocked a series of rough sans serif letters and embellished them with scattered decorative elements. The original was of only capital letters, touching and overlapping like an ironwork gate made of letters. Pichii completed the typeface with lowercase forms and smoothed the edges. The scrolls of the capitals were extended to the lowercase and Pichii based them on iron scrollwork he found in Vienna and Prague. A lot of attention was paid to the elements of the typeface in order to 'smooth out' and balance proportional relations between the elements," says Pichii. ITC Ironwork is great for signage and display but also works well in short texts."

Originally released by the Stephenson Blake foundry in England, Doric is modeled on one of the sans serifs of William Caslon IV, who was the first to interpret sans serif letterforms into a typeface (1816). Doric Bold has large, heavy capitals with uniform letter widths. It is often used for classified advertising in newspapers because these qualities coupled with a large x-height allow greater legibility at small point sizes.

For these fonts I have reworked the spacing a bit, and completely redesigned the "N" as they were calligraphically very wrong. This font has been described as "one of the cutest fonts I've ever seen. I can imagine a beautiful, young 22-year-old fashion design student from Los Angeles, CA with this handwriting as she's writing in her journal." I have cleaned it up a bit, increased the size of all the dots slightly and then designed all the diacritics and expanded the character set. The lowercase "f" has a big overhang and the lowercase "j" goes really far to the left - I have programmed automatic (OpenType) Contextual Alternate versions that automatically substitute with shorter variants when letters collide. RAMS is a Sans Serif type family of four weights with matching italics. The typeface’s design was influenced by the geometric style of Sans Serif faces of the 30s. The typeface was designed at ParaType (ParaGraph) in 1993 by Tagir Safayev. Based on Placard typeface (Hermes Grotesk) of the Lange type foundry (St.-Petersburg), an adaptation of Hermes Grotesk, of the Woellmer type foundry (Berlin, middle of the 19th century).
