A tessellation is a shape that can be used to completely fill the plane. Simple examples are isosceles triangles, squares, and hexagons. Tessellation patterns are eye-catching and visually appealing, which is the reason that they have long been popular in a variety of decorative situations. These Tessie fonts have two family members, a solid style that must have different colors when used and an outline style. They can be used separately or they can be used in layers with the outline style on top of the solid style. For rows to align properly, leading must be the same as point size. This typeface contains Escher-like tessellations of birds. Quite a few of them resemble swimming birds, but there are also some that resemble flying birds or birds in other positions. Most or all of these shapes were discovered/created by the font designer during the past twenty years in the process of designing maze books, coloring books, and a book about tessellations. (Earlier tessellation fonts from IngrimayneType, the TessieDingies fonts, lack a black or filled version so cannot do colored patterns. The addition of a solid style that must be colored makes these new fonts a bit more difficult to use but offers far greater possibilities in getting visually interesting results.)

The Fredrick Ullmer Co. in London acted as agent for many typefoundries, and this was one of their offerings. Some of the letters were rather outlandish, so we fearlessly decided to improve them. The result is this dated but pleasant font. The original didn't have a lowercase, so we added it.

A long time ago, I lived and worked in the English Lake District. When I first arrived there, I camped out not far from a neolithic monument called Castlerigg Stone Circle. Castlerigg Stone Circle is one of the most beautiful stone circles in the whole of Britain; the views are great and it makes for a nice walk from Keswick. This rather grungy font was made with a Sharpie pen I initially wanted to throw away, because it was dry, but then decided I could at least get one more font out of it. The result is Castlerigg - a rather neolithic looking all caps font. Castlerigg comes with double letter ligatures for the lower case.

Double Nines JNL is a dingbat font containing fifty-five glyphs for the tiles found in the second level of domino games. Sets of dominoes can be of either double six, double nine or double twelve. Abril is an extension of the Abril typographic system that was engineered as a response to a very specific requirement from the editorial design community: a low contrast typeface for head- lines. Given its broad range of styles though, Abril deserves to be considered a separate font family on its own. Based on the original text styles of Abril, the letter shapes are sturdy, very legible, and deliver a newsy and trustworthy feel. The accented editorial style of the Scotch Roman finds continuity in this new type family, but some of the details have been ironed out for improved performance in headline, both in print and on screen. It began its journey towards the light years ago when this style was born as a sketch for a new logo for the California Angels baseball team (renamed shortly thereafter the Anaheim Angels). The Angels logo never happened, but that sketch has risen from the dead and become the basis for this brand new font design—and was also the source for the name. From the standpoint of calligraphy, a font family of capitals and uncials makes perfect sense. The Roman square capitals, the quadrata, are matched by round capitals of older Greek origin; the word "uncus" means hook-shaped like a beak or talon. Interrelated and often interchangeable, these capital letters served as book hands for both the Latin West and the Greek-speaking East before they evolved into minuscule alphabets. The Testament family is based on the few formal capital manuscripts of the Bible, Virgil and Homer that have survived from the ancient world. Throughout the Middle Ages both uncials and square capitals were used, often together, for headings and initial characters. By their nature the Roman capitals are the voice of Caesar and hold the place of authority, while the uncials speak for the Church in a balanced relationship. In ancient times church and state were not as separate as they are now, and the alphabets were not as different as typographic tradition has made them. In this calligraphic rendering it is clear that they are of the same substance and can be written in the same style, conveying even to the modern eye the eternal and classical quality of epic and scripture. Testament comes in all popular font formats, and includes support for a vaster-than-usual range of Latin-based languages.

You might call this a Bodoni Ornate font that Bodoni never made, close examination of this old 1800s font and it's plain to see that the top half of the letters is very Bodoni in appearance. Apple Pie is a revival of and old font from the William Hagar Type Foundry, which I've been able to date back to 1850. The William Hagar type specimen book from the 1850s only shows this font as a caps only typeface plus numbers, later in 1869 MacKellar Smiths and Jordan offered this font with a lowercase. Over a two year period I was able to collect enough letters to begin production of this old decorative font, the type specimen books only showed a small line of text for this font so I would search through old documents on eBay and also shows relating to Ephemera. I could have easily developed a new font based on a very small sample of letters but I wanted to wait and find as many letters as possible, I was unable to find the Q, X, Z and ten lowercase letters so those missing letters are of my own design. New to this font is the addition of an all Caps Greek character set, accented letters for Eastern Central and Western European countries is also within this font. Fill fonts are available for the Apple Pie font, you will need an application that works in layers such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator or Corel Graphics in order to use the Fill fonts. Some Fill fonts may be used as stand alone fonts but the versions for Apple Pie look best when layered behind the parent or main Apple Pie fonts. Be sure to check out the left and right hands located on the Less Than and Greater Than keys.

Diamond Ring is an Art Deco font inspired by Japanese designs for cosmetic packaging and posters used from the end of the 19th century to the early 20th. The most distinguishing characteristic is the diagonal parts of the glyphs. All diagonals have the same degree of the angle. Morris Sans is a newly revised and extended version of a small geometric family of typefaces originally produced by Morris Fuller Benton in 1930 for ATF. His initial design consisted of an alphabet of squared capital letters with a unique twist that characterized its appearance: corners with rounded exteriors and right-angle interiors. The types were intended for use in the fine print found on business cards, banking or financial forms, and contracts. But over the ensuing decades, this design became a popular element in all sorts of design environments, and several foundries revived the typeface in digital form. Since digital fonts are bicameral, with slots for both upper and lowercase letters, new cuts of the type opted filled the lowercase slots with small caps. In 2006, Linotype commissioned its own version of the typeface-an extension for 21st century use. Under the advisement of Linotype's type director Akira Kobayashi, Dan Reynolds redrew the uppercase and added an original lowercase for the first time. Additionally, a number of extras were brought into the fonts, including six figure styles (tabular and proportional lining figures, tabular and proportional oldstyle figures, and special tabular and proportional small cap" figures). Small caps, which have become an iconic element over time, are accessible in each font as an OpenType feature. To differentiate this version from the original, Linotype's new family is named Morris Sans, in honor of Morris Fuller Benton. All fonts in the Morris Sans family are OpenType Com fonts; they include a character set capable of setting 48 European languages that employ the Roman alphabet, including all Central and Eastern Europe languages, those from the Baltics, and Turkish.
