An intoxicating blend of rare flavours is what makes the new transitional typeface Wermut (German for vermouth) resemble its alcoholic namesake. Bitter and thorny at first glance, it proceeds to surprise the palate with a complicated taste that leaves a pleasant aftertaste. Wermut may not be taken in hastily, but needs to be thoughtfully enjoyed at a measured pace. Its dark colour, compressed, spring-like, shapes, well-built proportions, and agreeable letterforms all look safe enough until one is jolted to encounter the clipped serifs that lend the page an unexpectedly edgy appearance. Pocketknife is a simple grid-based titling font on it’s surface, but it has a surprisingly prolific set of features under the surface. The most notable of these features is an abundant set of ligatures that give Pocketknife it’s unique look. There are very few kerning pairs contained within Pocketwatch, and these ligatures fill in most gaps that could be created by letters with more empty space, such as L and T, and also give a more playful look to an otherwise sharp-edged typeface. Pocketknife also contains with 2 full sets of alternate characters, one pairing with the uppercase set and one pairing with the lowercase—available as OpenType stylistic alternates or individually in the Glyphs panel. Pocketknife Regular is designed to be used on it’s own, while the Inline and Base fonts are designed to be used as a simple layered combination. The Base font is nearly identical to Regular, but contains a few specially adjusted characters that better accommodate the Inline style. Pocketknife Outline is a combination of the Inline/Base styles, to be used individually. Pocketknife is sharp, but playful. Simple, but sophisticated. Prologue was designed to look like a postmodern typewriter. With plain and simple upper cases and trickier lower cases. Three weights give a good variety for all kinds of designs and seem especially well made for headlines and short teasers.

The term Sanseki (Japanese for Three [Brush] Traces) is used to describe three famous Heian period calligraphers: Yaseki, Gonseki and Saseki. Not that I would ever dream of comparing my messy brush-work with theirs, but the name stuck and I kind of liked it. I used Chinese ink and a high quality brush (which I got in a sale actually) to create this font. All glyphs were hand painted in one go! Sanseki is a very detailed brush font. Upper and lower case letters mingle and there’s even an alternate for every lower case glyph. Comes with an abundance of diacritics.

Telegraph font family was developed on the base of scanned images of telegraph printing machines. It consists of 4 styles: Natural is the most close to original scans with all defects of positioning and dirty print on the rough telegraph paper tape; Clean style uses cleaned contours, but keeps disorder in positioning; Straight is straightened along base line; Clean Straight style has self-explaining name. The fonts can be used for imitation of wire texts and in advertising and display typography. Upgraded version with extended character set was released in 2011 by ParaType. Designer Gennady Fridman.

The Fast Hand set was inspired by casual, neat hand lettering. They are casual and informal and ideal for use in conveying these qualities. They are excellent for casual text and at large sizes an effective casual display font. Both fonts have the same uppercase alphabet, numbers, punctuation, accented characters, symbols, and miscellaneous characters. As their names imply Fast Hand Lower Case has a lowercase alphabet while Fast Hand Small Caps has small caps in place of the lowercase alphabet. Fast Hand Lower Case and Fast Hand Small Caps are sold as a set priced at $20.

Monckeberg is an expressive font with a strong personality which is based on 15th century classic Venetian typefaces. High contrast between thin and thick strokes, calligraphic features and diagonal stress are its most striking characteristics. Monckeberg is ideal for short text and paragraphs, and specially designed for logos, branding, editorial design and web use. Monckeberg consists of 2 subfamilies of 9 weights, from Thin to Heavy, with matching italics, resulting in a total of 36 fonts. The basic family is classic and elegant while the alternative version allows for greater design freedom. Monckeberg contains 511 characters that support over 200 Latin-based languages.

Brrrrr is supposed to represent snow-covered letters, though it could also be letters covered with frosting. The lower case letters are identical to the upper-case letters. Buried in the font is another set of letters on Christmas tree ornaments. (They are on unicode characters in the 2400 block, circled digits and letters. See here.) The OpenType Stylistic Sets feature makes accessing these letters easier than using unicode, and another font, InsideLetters-Christmas, develops them further. The Brrrrr-Icing style can be used in a layer over Brrrrr to give the snowcap any color, not just the background color.

Karolina is a calligraphic serif font. It is inspired by Edward Johnstons (1872–1944) calligraphy and the foundational hand (which was based on the carolingian letters and therefore the name Karolina). The Uppercase letters are based on the perfect proportioned roman capitals. Karolina is a classic and clean typeface with smooth shapes that will give an elegant touch to your projects. It is suitable for formal use and works well both for headlines and as body text in smaller sizes.

This quasi-Chancery classic is a revival of Walter MacKay’s Heritage typeface, made for ATF in 1952. Walter is clean and legible free-flowing calligraphy with a subdued, conservative and traditional letterform base that can be used in large sizes for posters, covers and packaging, as well as in relatively small sizes for personalized letters, poetry and quotables. Walter comes with 430 glyphs and support the majority of Latin-based languages. Plenty of alternates and ligatures are sprinkled throughout the font.

G&G is the only authorized digitized version of the original handlettering of early 20th Century architects Charles and Henry Greene. This font is both accurate and authentic -- it was adapted directly from the Greenes' original plans for The Gamble House in Pasadena, California, and others. G&G contains both Upper and Lower-case characters, consistent with the Greenes' use of lower-case to explain fine construction details on their plans. G&G is very successful in creating the illusion of hand lettering.

Gábor Kóthay in Hungary has developed an archaic identity largely based upon lettering from a rare Type Specimen of the Jesuit Academy Press of Tyrnavia (1773). They have developed many baroque style typefaces of Hungarian derivation. Gábor wanted an authentic handwriting revival from that age as well. La Danse is a 'facsimile' font, based on the manuscript of an inventory found in the original Tyrnavia specimen. The manuscript was written in an archaic Latin alphabet therefore some modern interpretations have been inserted.

The name comes from a British expression about two things that couldn't be more different, and it suits this offering to a tee. The uppercase of this typeface is based on 1930s lettering by French poster artist Charles Loupot, and the lowercase is based on 1910s lettering by German plakatmeister Ludwig Hohlwein. Oddly, the two seem to play together well. Both versions of the font include the 1252 Latin and 1250 CE character sets (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan).

Trinculo is a cursive font which combines traditional letter forms with ridiculously ornate embellishments and flourishes. It's rather like what an 18th century clerk might have done with his lettering if he was bored to distraction with writing the same old letters again and again. The upper case characters are more complex with simpler versions of the same characters in the lower case. Trinculo is a lot of fun, though if you use it too much it may become overwhelming.

Lower-case lettering is so-called because the characters that we know as lower-case were once kept in the bottom, shallow drawers of a type compositor's typecase.
