Bill Corporate is a geometric typeface with generous capitals. A modern classic, based on Max Bill’s lettering work, its straightforward and uncompromising construction can be both edgy and sublime. Chef Lorenz about the TpKurier recipe: “TpKurier is the second redesign we did of Courier. The first redesign in 2000, although based on a five-unit grid, was drawn completely by hand. Six years later we designed another grid version of Courier, and the TpKurier family was born. This version is completely constructed up till its last detail. We didn't want to correct ‘mistakes’ deriving from the use of the grid, but instead make them visible (see “S”). TpKurier is based on a very simple grid, composed a proportion of four units high by two units wide. A series of other links between them make it possible to form a font from this grid. We felt it was important to consistently work within these limitations so that any unexpected asperities would help provide the font with its character. Even though it is a rough constructed typeface it was important to us to design real italic lower case letters and not just a sloped roman (see “a”, “g” or “s”). The first family published contained a serif and sans-serif version of the TpKurier, with italic and bold.”

Whitenights is a contemporary text family, which was developed by the prolific Swedish typographer Lars Bergquist in 2002. Containing five weights (11 different fonts total), this family contains every tool you need to set splendid text. The base font of the family is Whitenights Regular, a reliable face designed in the old style manner. It ships in OpenType format, with old style figures. Whitenights Ligatures Regular is a supplementary font, which contains many extra ligatures (e.g., ffb, ffk, tt, and fj) whose use will improve the color" of a page of text set in Whitenights Regular. Whitenights Regular may be accented by combination with Whitenights Small Caps, Whitenights Italic, Whitenights Bold, and/or Whitenights Bold Italic. The Whitenights Italic, Bold and Bold Italic styles all have supplementary Ligature fonts available for purchase, similar to the Whitenights Ligatures Regular face described above. For larger, headline text, the specially designed Whitenights Titling is quite useful. This titling font has been optically redrawn and respaced for use in large sizes. Naturally, it has its own supplementary Ligature font as well. In books, magazines, and newsletters this font is a great display companion to the rest of the Whitenights family. Its use in conjunction with the text faces will make your typographical compositions more sophisticated. Last but not least in the Whitenights family is Whitenights Math, which contains many additional mathematical and logical glyphs not found in a standard font's character set. Used together, the above 12 styles can set almost any text or math-based document. The entire family is included in the Take Type 5 collection from Linotype GmbH."

This is Ekamai, named after the district of Bangkok I lived in. It is based on Quinella, and was supposed to be a quick and easy reworking of that font into a "tight-not-touching" (rather than overlapping) version. As is often the case with quick and easy things, it turned out to be neither, and the vast majority of glyphs needed to be completely overhauled to fit the new system. This face is deliciously plump face, with lovingly rendered curves and just the right amount of cuteness; perfect for food packaging (of the sweeter variety probably!), logos, magazine headlines and the like. It performs admirably in all caps settings. The numerals are expressive hybrid figures (somewhere between lining and oldstyle). The overall feel is friendly and soft, without being overtly saccharine. Ekamai is equipped with subtle contextual alternates (which I'd recommend leaving on) to help with the tight fit, a handful of discretionary ligatures if that's your thing, and a case feature for all caps settings. The stylistic alternates and stylistic set 1 features simply change the # glyph to an attractive numero. Automatic fractions are included along with wide-ranging language support.

The birth of the monospaced types dates back to the past. There was a need for the creation of typesets for typewriters. The difficulty was to align the different glyphs in the same width. This led to particular problems with letters like “M” and “l”; the former seemed to be squeezed into the same width of all letters and the second one appeared way too streched. Despite – or perhaps because of – the impression of the typewriter is still popular with Graphic Designers. Nowadays there are even monospaced versions of primarily proportional types; for example the the Sans Mono designed by Lucas de Groot or the DIN Mono. Then again, why not the other way round?! In the first half of the Nineties, Erik Spiekermann developed a proportional type named ITC Officina based on the Letter Gothic. According to a survey on the 100 best fonts of all time conducted by FontShop, ITC Officina is in an eighth place, far ahead of its forerunner. This was the reason for me to create a wider design with a Serif and a Sans Serif based on the queen of all monospaced types – the Courier.

Neat Hand is a neat hand-lettered sans serif font set. As their names imply Neat Hand Lower Case has a lowercase alphabet while Neat Hand Small Caps has small caps in place of the lowercase alphabet. The Vale Press was a contemporary of Willam Morris's Kelmscott Press. The types used by the Vale Press were designed by artist Charles Ricketts, who also supervised the design and printing of Vale Press books. The main type used, Vale, was based on the Jenson 15th century roman type style. The King's Fount was an experimental semi-uncial font based on the Vale type. The King's Fount was designed in 1903 for the Vale edition of the 15h century poem "The Kingis Quair". This semi-uncial font evokes old English and Anglo-Saxon lettering. P22 Vale Pro combines the two fonts P22 Vale Roman and P22 Vale King's Fount into one "Pro" font. This pro font also includes a Central European character set, old style figures, fractions, ornaments and a special faux "Middle English" feature to make "anee text appeer Olde." This feature is not known to exist in any other font.
