Futura is THE prototype of a geometric or constructed linear sans serif and the font most commonly font of its kind used to date. The Descent family is a unique, graffiti style, layered type system consisting of a contextual style & a classic style, each with a base fill version & an outline version. Based on a signature category of wildstyles by Graffiti Fonts® lead designer Raseone, this family was designed to be rotated 90 degrees clockwise so that the text reads in a downward direction. OpenType scripting in the contextual version enables up to 12 unique variants of any word using alternating patterns of interlocking glyphs. The classic version does not include OpenType features but instead has initial glyphs as capitals and medial glyphs in the lowercase positions. The characters in the classic version are similar to the more advanced contextual version but noticeably different & a bit more irregular. Glyphs from both styles can be mixed & used interchangeably & both styles have corresponding outline fonts.

Adolf Rusch von Ingweiler, was in the 19 th century known mysteriously as the “R'' printer. He was the first printer North of the Alps to introduce the new Roman style of type known now as Antiqua. He was active in the city of Strasbourg from around the early 1460's to 1489. One wonders if the unusual form of “R'' was a personal conceit. This font is, therefore, an Antiqua style font and has over a 1000 defined glyphs with wide support for medieval characters that have since fallen out of use. The baseline was slightly tidied up in order to give the printed text an even cleaner look than the original. The letters are very close approximations of the original type catalogued by the “Veröffentlichungen der Gesellschaft für Typenkunde des 15. Jahrhunderts” as Typ.1:103R GfT1197.

Architype Crouwel is a collection of typefaces created in collaboration with Wim Crouwel, following his agreement with The Foundry, to recreate his experimental alphabets as digital fonts. Crouwel's most recognized work was for the Van Abbe and Stedelijk museums (1954 –72) where he established his reputation for radical, grid-based design. Stedelijk first appeared in the seminal Vormgevers poster, commissioned by the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam in 1968. Crouwel created a rigid grid system across the poster of 57 vertical by 41 horizontal lines, also forming the basis for the construction of the letterforms. Although all hand drawn, the resulting typeface had a machine-made appearance. This striking black and white poster with its visible grid became one of Crouwel's most iconic designs. Architype Stedelijk now re-creates these letterforms as a single alphabet typeface in a digital font.

P22 Brass Script is a new font from an old source. This script font was discovered in a booklet from Dornemann & Co. of Magdeburg Germany, circa 1910. The book was titled Messingschriften fur Handvergoldung, which roughly translates to “Brass types for hand foil stamping.” The mini catalog called this type simply “Script.” It has not been previously digitized or seen in standard metal type form. The antique specimen book featured most of the characters needed for a full alphabet, but a number of letters were not shown. Since no other examples of this style could be found, P22 enlisted the assistance of master calligrapher Michael Clark to draw the missing characters in the same style as the original. The style is very loosely based on the secretarial hands and reminiscent of “French Hand” with a very early 20th century, pre-modern feel. It has an unusual flow that is neither too casual nor too formal. The font would be useful for wedding invitations or packaging and advertising. Yuli is my daughter - she was born on February 13th, 2014. I named this font after her, because there are some similarities. Both are bouncy and happy, playful and quirky, funny and happy - and above all: cute and cuddly. Yuli font was loosely based on Bodoni and Spumoni - two typefaces I like a lot. Clairvaux is a part of the 1990 program Type before Gutenberg, which included the work of twelve contemporary font designers and represented styles from across the ages.
