Komsomol (short for Kommunisticheskii Soyuz Molodyozhi) was the youth division of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. Komsomol font was modeled on several Soviet propaganda posters which all had one thing in common: a very loud message in a very clear typeface. Komsomol is an all caps typeface which comes with extensive language support in order to educate the masses.

Due to some grease on a menu, I misread "Spicy Avocado" as "Spacy Avocado" which led me to the name of this font. I love Avocados and I love things that are a bit spacy, and I love the combination of these two! Space Avocado is my handdrawn, layered headline font. I like the expression ‘being on tenterhooks’. Not that I’m on tenterhooks very often! Tenterhooks was made with a broken satay skewer (see poster 2 for the actual thing) and Chinese ink. It came out rather rough, but it does have a nice flow and a certain ‘wild elegance’. Comes with double letter ligatures and a whole bunch of diacritics.

I really can’t tell you why I called this font Funky Flamingo. Normally I name fonts after something I see or do, but I don’t have a special thing for flamingoes, nor do I keep them in my backyard. Funky Flamingo is a happy handmade serif with a retro look. It comes in regular and bold styles, each style with its own Italic.

This font is based on a lot of the downtempo culture in Paris. Smoky bars, jazz clubs, that sort of thing. How a font can be influenced by intangibles is a question that I can't quite answer, but I can say that when I created it, it strongly reminded me of a couple of times spent in Paris back in the mid-90s.

Lagniappe is a thin decorative font. Kerning is not the best on this one. You may want to adjust as needed.

Michiana Pro is my new, hand-crafted connecting script! I've been hand lettering cards and envelopes to my wife and family in this type style for years and decided it was time to make a font based on it. I typically start with a single thin stroke for each letter, then build up the weight of the heavy stroke, so there ends up being a lot of charming variations in terms of style and color. The overall finish is rough, yet friendly. Perfect for invitations, place cards, love notes, and with its large x-height, it sets nicely for text. I grew up running around the dunes and beaches along Lake Michigan in northwest Indiana, and I think the shoreline and dune grass has inspired my aesthetic.
