Geometric font inspired by shop signs in 4 styles Anisette has sprouted as a way to test some ideas of designs. It has started with a simple line construction (not outlines as usual) that can be easily expanded and condensed in its width in Illustrator. Subsequently, this principle of multiple widths and extreme weights permitted to Jean François Porchez to have a better understanding with the limitations associated with the use of MultipleMaster to create intermediate font weights. Anisette built around the idea of two widths capitals can be described as a geometric sanserif typeface influenced by the 30s and the Art Deco movement. Its design relies on multiple sources, from Banjo through Cassandre posters, but especially lettering of Paul Iribe. In France, at that time, the Art Deco spirit is mainly capitals. Gérard Blanchard has pointed to Jean Francois that Art Nouveau typefaces designed by Bellery-Desfontaines was featured before the Banjo with this principle of two widths capitals. The complementarity between the two typefaces are these wide capitals mixed with narrow capitals for the Anisette while the Anisette Petite – in its latest version proposes capitals on a square proportions, intermediate between the two others sets. Of course, the Anisette Petite fonts also includes lowercases too. Anisette Petite, a geometric font inspired by shop signs in 4 styles So, when Jean François Porchez has decided to create lowercases the story became more complicated. His stylistic references couldn’t be restricted anymore to the French Art-déco period but to the shop signs present in our cities throughout the twentieth century. These signs, lettering pieces aren’t the typical foundry typefaces. Simply because the influences of these painted letters are different, not directly connected to foundry roots which generally follow typography history. The outcome is a palette of slightly strange shapes, without strictly not following geometrical, mechanical and historical principles such as those that typically appear in typefaces marketed by foundries. As an example, the Anisette Petite r starts with a small and visible sort of apex that no other similar glyphs such as n or m feature, but present at the end of the l and y. The famous g loop is actually inspired by Chancery scripts, which has nothing to do with the lettering. The goal is of course to mix forms without direct reports, in order to properly celebrate this lettering spirit. This is why the e almost finishes horizontally as the Rotis – and the top a which must logically follow this principle and is drawn more round-curly. This weird choice seemed so odd to its designer that he shared his doubts and asked for advise to Jeremy Tankard who immediately was reassuring: “Oddly, your new top a is fine, it brings roundness to the typeface, when the previous pushes towards Anisette Petite to unwanted austerity.” The Anisette Petite, since its early days, is a mixture of non-consistent but charming shapes. HS Albasim A is an Arabic display typeface. It is useful for headlines, books covers and other graphic projects. It is a collaborative effort, as "HS Albasim A" first letters were designed and drawn by Basim Salem Al Mahdi from Iraq and then developed and digitalized as a typeface by Hasan AbuAfash from Palestine. The font is based on the simple lines of Fatmic Kufi but was it distinguished by two main ideas: First, it contains a nice serf in the vertical strokes of its letters. The second, some of storks in its letter differ in the thickness instead of being similar, as it is in the Fatmic Kufi style. The font contains only two weights: regular and bold. Both of them support the OpenType features of Arabic, Persian and Urdu.

I recently walked part of the South West Coast Path in the UK. A couple of days in the hike, I came across a small cafe and I decided to have an oat latte (I am lactose intolerant). Since it was early in the morning, the breakfast menu was out and one of the items I noticed was ‘Overnight Oats’. I normally cook my oats with some lactose free milk and water, but apparently you can soak them overnight, add fruit and nuts and eat it like that. I tried it, it’s ok, but I think I prefer the cooked version. Overnight Oats is a bit of an odd font: it is very higgledy piggledy, yet legible and unique. Hazelton is a neo-humanist typeface inspired by the explorations and development of early British sans-serif typography. Six weight have been developed for Hazelton. The lighter weights are loosely inspired by Edward Johnston’s Underground typeface. The heavier weights glean inspiration from Stephenson Blake’s Granby. Sharp, pointed terminals that are indicative of British typography have been omitted in favour of a more modern sensibility. Subtle humanist characteristics become more exaggerated as the typeface increases in weight, making the lighter weights practical for text purposes and the heavier weights ideal for display use. A unique set of numerals have been developed to infuse them with a humanist quality that is often lacking when typesetting technical data. Naïve Deco Sans is a layered sans serif handwritten font designed by Fanny Coulez and Julien Saurin in Paris. Our goal was to draw a font with finely irregular lines that give a human and whimsical feeling. It is available in two versions: double or triple lines. The font is also decomposed in three different parts that you can use to improve your designs with multiple colors, giving to the font a deco touch. To do so, you can simply superimpose the parts with a compatible software like Photoshop and choose a color for each. Mosherif is a type of sherif font created with the aim of using for logo branding and print media. This font has three style that can be combined manually with one another in one word / text so that it looks unique and interesting. One example is in the first preview ( cover ), where the word "MOSHERIF" was made using three font styles ( Mosherif Regular, Mosherif Tall and Mosherif Short ). You can make it manually by making a space and remove some characters between words "MOSHERIF" becomes "M HE F" with using the font "Mosherif Tall" and fill it with "Mosherif Regular" in character "O" and "R" and "Mosherif Short" in character "S" and "I" by stacking them. By bringing the concept of vintage, clean, thick and sharp, hopefully Mosherif can provide choices for designers. Enjoy!

Rolling gemstones… The name "Eris" is again borrowed from Greek mythology, is related to the myth "the apples of Hesperides" which were gold and one of them got the Erida!!! More about this myth can be found on the web... And in this font (as in one section in the "Cyceon" font) I have mixed in the lower case with the capitals in many letters.I tried here to give a different illustration in lowercase letters, simply because of whims or because the monotony is tiring me!!! One can also mix here with two levels to get a third color depiction using the “ErisPro-Black” with “ErisPro-Strap” or “ErisPro-BlackIt” with “ErisPro-StrapIt” This series is composed and includes twenty-four fonts with 658 glyphs each, with true italics and supports Latin, Greek and Cyrillic.

Streetscript Redux is an update to the now discontinued Streetscript. In the original version, it seems a lot of users didn't like the s’s in the font, and after seeing them redrawn (not always with the best results!) a few times, I decided to make a new version of the font with less idiosyncratic s’s, and this is the result, Streetscript Redux. (I should have listened to my other half - “those s’s look like fives,” she said) All other features of the original Streetscript are intact (barring a couple of s-ligatures no longer necessary). There’s been a little tweaking of some outlines, and slight changes with spacing too, but for the most part, all I've done is redraw those pesky five-like s’s, so that you don't have to.

An original script font designed by Victor Kharyk and licensed by ParaType in 2006. Based on Ukrainian Skoropis (fast handwriting) of 16-17th centuries. The font was named after Ukrainian Getman Bogdan Khmelnitsky, because the main sources and inspirations for the project were taken from collection of handwriting Universals (decrees) of that time -- the middle of 17th century. The shape of letters imitates flat nib quill handwriting with stress, bringing them informal liveliness. The Bogdan font character set contains Cyrillic, Old Slavonic , Glagolitic, Latin and Greek alphabets in two variants: Rejestrowy (Regular) and Siczowy (Alternate). The font is for use in display typography, but can work quite well for short text setting. Bogdan type is well suited for historical and cultural texts associated with Europe of 15-17th centuries

Newsreel Caps JNL is a novelty caps-only outline letter with cast shadow set inside film frames. Although the design idea itself is not new, this version is based on lettering from a vintage piece of sheet music for a song featured in the movie "Fox Movietone Follies". The font is a wink and nod to Fox's long-running newsreel series called "Fox Movietone News". The upper case keys have black letters on a white frame, while the lower case keys have white letters on a black frame. A blank white frame is on the period key; a blank black frame is on the comma key. Use this font for individual initials, set the characters loose for effect or set them tight (as provided) for a continuous film strip.

Bouteilles is French for bottles. No fancy name this time, just bottles. You’re probably wondering why I chose this name… Well, I was taking out the glass (in Holland we recycle just about everything, glass, paper, plastic, metal, garden and kitchen waste, etc.), which included a number of French wine bottles. As I was throwing them into the underground container one block from where I live, I realised that the word Bouteilles actually sounds great and it would be a nice name for a font! Yes, it is that simple! Bouteilles is a nice brush font I made with my trusted Chinese ink and a really worn brush I found. It comes with all the diacritics you need plus two sets of alternates, which you can play with!

Say hello to Marshmallow Hot Chocolate Brush - A super-casual, super-versatile all caps brush font. Omnibus is one of my absolute favourites. My intention was to design a typeface as easy to read as Baskerville, without being a copy of it. It is easy to see that I was influenced by Baskerville, e.g. in the open lowercase g. I had in mind to design a Baskerville with the looks of the Baskervilles used in earlier typesetting. I put aside those plans for a while (but fulfilled them later on) and dedicated myself to Omnibus. In both cases my aim was to achieve a typeface with darker looks than the most used Baskerville. The name has nothing to do with buses, it is Latin with the meaning of for all". It is also in the name of Omnibus Typografi. Omnibus was released in 1993.
