Monotype Modern, the first typeface produced by Lanston Monotype, was released in 1896, the same year the company introduced its hot metal typeseting machine. It is a Victorian variation on the vertically stressed, high-contrast Bodoni model.

The first of the Algonquin fonts, Benchley was inspired by Robert Benchley, whose dignified, witty exterior failed to disguise his love of the spotlight. Benchley, the font, is elegant but informal and is best at large sizes.

Scenders was inked first then digitized for the masses to use. Strong ascenders and descenders embellish the font, so the lowercase characters are quite compelling. Scenders is versatile, but it works very well in all caps headlines.

I love going to flea markets and second-hand stores; in fact a lot of the furniture in our home is second hand (or pre-loved, a euphemism I find rather peculiar). I personally believe that buying used products is a good way to help this planet, as no new stuff needs to be made and the old stuff gets a second life. Fleabitten is a ‘western style’ serif font. In the early days of printing everything had to be worked out from scratch. This set of lettering is based on section headings used by the Printer Lucas Brandis (no known relation), the first printer to operate in the city of Lübeck around 1473. They remind me of a medieval version of the spray paint graffiti so often seen on the sides of trains. A bit on the crude side, but also and importantly extremely noticeable. So whether you use it for creating old styled printing or some wild modern eye grabbing text item, its robust and sturdy shapes will be certain to grab the eye.

We are very happy to announce the release of our first collaboration with master calligrapher, designer and illustrator Gabriel Martínez Meave from México. The first in the series of new designs is Wordless Script, an emotional calligraphic typeface published by Sudtipos. Speechless. Breathless. Wordless. There are letters that transcend simple functionality and sheer legibility, to be recognized instead by their style, their charm, their emotion. It’s like when we don’t remember the exact sentences, but we recall the tone of the voice of a loved one: it just doesn’t matter WHAT he or she said, but HOW he or she said it. Wordless Script is the font of choice for writing those things that go beyond words. Based on the connected-scripts of late 18th-century England, this typeface preserves the irregular finish and gestural strokes of the pointed nib. It is, so to speak, a personal rendition of the English roundhand as originally executed with the bird’s quill. Imbued with a Rococo, neoclassical, romantic spirit, Wordless radiates the gallantry of a time when the celebrated «douceur de vivre» that Talleyrand was so fond of was still alive and well; echoes of which still haunt us in our eclectic 21st-century, which has once again come to appreciate these magnificent styles of old. Dorset marks Léon Hugues first script typeface and first release with the Positype Flourish label. Built crosscurrent to a strict revival or calligraphic digitization, Dorset’s aim was to understand how a font could interact with various calligraphic influences in a single execution and how that interpretation by Léon would lead to new, exclusive design choices. The design purposely chose to connect various gestures from Spencerian handwriting and copperplate calligraphy and meld that with his initial experiments with fine, flat nibs. The result is wholly unique and useful when clear, open, and legible script typography is desired. OpenType features included in this typeface allow the user to seamlessly move from an italic to connected script, while the various stylistic sets can lead you to variations of texture and rhythm, allowing for a more personal and exact expression.

The different fonts in the Why Square family are an extension of the designs begun in Zoran Kostic's Just Square family. Why Square's lowercase letters are all more condensed versions of Just Square's letters, and in some of the fonts, the uppercase letters are wider. The first five fonts are the different weights of Why Square (UltraThin, UltraLight, Thin, Light, and Regular). Here, all of the characters--both upper and lowercase--are more condensed versions of the geometric letters from the Just Square family. The next five fonts (UltraThin, UltraLight, Thin, Light, and Regular weights) include identical lowercase letters to those from the first five fonts in the family, but their capitals are considerably wider. These may be used as initials, either with the other fonts in the Why Square family, or with the Just Square family.

Dimitrina was created with a simple premise: Can there exist a typeface which features a minimum of sharp angles? And a readable typeface, as well? With these strict rules in mind, the development started. At first the typeface looked more like a script, and some characters ( M G or R, to name a few) still hold traces of a handwritten style which spices the overall taste of Dimitrina. Since the first draft every character was redrawn, and edited several times, for the purpose of making the typeface readable, and distinct at the same time. Estimate for yourself if our goals are achieved, while you observe the three weights which are available exclusively in MyFonts. All of them feature a full set of characters plus cyrillic support. You can also try the regular weight which is offered free.

The first ideas about creation this font appeared in spring 2005. I took gothic fonts and a technique of feather as the base and create something unusual. Zholud's Modern Ghotic font has only A-Z, a-z, 0-9 and . , : ; ' " ! ? - characters. I recommed you to use this font in headers. It looks better if you'll start each word with Caps. Please use an application that supports kerning in order to display the spaces between characters correctly.

It is a square with inverted rounded edges. This font is a modular font designed to create inverted rounded square edges. This font was created with using just a few shapes stacked and rotated to make a unique, digital font with a little bit of quirky personality.

The fact of this font is Romantine was my very first font. This New Romantine is the newer version of Romantine. It's bolder than the old version. Just launch the New Romantine in February so this font will bring the Valentine's Vibe to your creative projects.

"Weekday Mornings" are the 2 first words from the song "Nancy" by Prefab Sprout. Just like the song, the font has a romantic theme and could be considered as "easy listening". Well, I've added 7 slightly different versions of each letter, enough to make the font look like the real handwriting which was the base of the font. Fun fact: I had this song on repeat when finishing the font. I still do love that song! :)

Part of the first typeface release package from ITC in 1970, Busorama melds Art Deco and 70s flower-power into a delightful sans serif design. Designed by Tom Carnase, this three-weight sans serif family still turns heads.

A World War II training film had its opening title card “First Aid” hand lettered in a casual, Art Deco sans serif design. This is now available digitally as Film Title JNL, in both regular and oblique versions.

Redrawn from a strange type originally made about 1850, and sold by the Connors Foundry, New York. We cannot guarantee that Connors originated it, since they were among the first to have facilities for pirating other foundries' types.

Firmin Didot cut the first modern face about 1784 in Paris; Giambattista Bodoni followed prolifically on his heels; his punches and matrices survive in Parma. Bauer has produced the most faithful and delicate contemporary version of his types.

Hapshash is an all capitals font inspired by the 1960s psychedelic posters of British designers Hapshash and the Coloured Coat (Michael English and Nigel Waymouth), in particular their 1968 poster for the First International Pop Festival in Rome.

Flivver JNL takes its name from the slang term applied to Model T's in the 1920s, and it's design is a first-cousin to Two Reeler JNL (inspired by lettering on titles from a Charlie Chaplin silent film).

Italian designer Aldo Novarese first created Egizio in 1955. Egizio is a Clarendon-style typeface, based on type fashions that were especially common in Britain during the 19th Century. This font is a popular choice for newspaper headlines.

The font, Madame, first appeared in a sample with similar fonts, presented by the Fonderie Typographique Française in the 19th century. The font consists of three cuts, letters, accents and numericals. The flamboyant Madame is meant for titles and headlines, emphasis in text or as initials.
