Alta Mesa is a revival of an old type design from the 1800's that was sold by most of the type foundries in the US and Europe of that time period so it is difficult to know the foundry of origin. New with this version are the fill fonts and plain styles, the fill fonts may be used as stand alone fonts, however the letter spacing is much wider, the plain versions are recommended if you desire a solid black weight. The regular Fill font is in registration with the Regular and Open versions while the Fill L font is in registration with the L and Open L versions. This was a very charming font in its time which was heavily used on old billheads and letterheads. Bay Tavern is the first weathered version of our Tavern font that's based on Algerian. Sutro Deluxe is a bold slab serif with a double drop shadow. It was originally conceived as a simple black and white display alphabet. But it seemed unfinished, begging for something more. I decided to try adding a couple layers of fill and detail to try and make it interesting. The result is this five-layer chromatic font family. The Primary Font is the Main Font. The other fonts ( Fill, Inline Fill, Inline and Shaded Inline) only exist to support the Primary Font.There is some color trapping going on.To make sure you are laying the fonts on top of one another in the optimum order, I recommend the free PDF User Manual. By the year 1900 this font disappeared from the major type foundries, now with the digital age of type we're proud to revive this old classic font that hasn't been used in over one hundred years. The original font was only available as an uppercase with punctuation and an ampersand. Today the character set has been updated to include a new lowercase, numbers and accented characters for Eastern, Central and Western European countries. Three fill fonts have been created for the Hickory font making it easier for you to add different colors, textures and patterns to the letters. You will need an application that works in layers such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator in order to use the fill fonts, some fill fonts may look good as a stand alone font, the Hickory fill fonts however do not look good used apart from the Hickory main font.
