The Mutamathil type family is the mid-size member of the Mutamathil type style. It has only one glyph for every basic Arabic Unicode character or letter. With each glyph being semi-symmetrical around its vertical axis, this family is mainly suitable for right to left ordering. The Mutamathil family includes all required Lam-Alif ligatures and uses ligature substitutions, and marks positioning but it does not use any other glyph substitutions or forming. Text strings composed using types of this family are non-cursive with stand alone isolated glyphs. The Mutamathil Taqlidi family includes both Arabic and Arabic-Indic numerals, all required diacritic marks, in addition to all standard English keyboard punctuations and major currency symbols. Geogrotesque is a semi modular with a subtle rounded finish typeface. All the characters are based in the same formal principle with its corresponding optical adjustments in order to adapt the system to an alphabet for texts. Although the type family has a geometric or “technological” construction, the rounded finish provides it a warm appearance, making the typefaces nicer and nearby. Geogrotesque has been conceived to be used as a display typeface in publications or intermediate length texts, most of all the Thin and Ultralight weights which were meant to be used in big sizes. The Sacramento Pro family of typefaces was inspired by a monoline, semi-connected script from hand-lettering artist brochure work of the 1950's and 1960's. With its sophisticated upright stance, it stands on a thin line between formal and casual lettering styles, yet it has a commanding presence for headlines and titles. The Slim adds a fine pen-line style, while the Stout style expands the formal/casual dichotomy much further than the original weight. This classified version of Monkton, with its expanded proportions and extended serifs can be used at small sizes for classified advertising, newspaper text or larger displays. Its semi-medium weight (heavier than Book weight) makes it robust to be legible when smaller and cope with various printing methods. The inspiration for this typeface family came from my childhood experiences at Monkton, amidst an historic part of the South West of England. Studies of the original incised capitals of the Trajan column in Rome were analysed and polished for this modern version. The lower case letterforms and numerals were then created in sympathy, taking their proportions from the incised letters of local gravestones. Its name honours not only the area where the original alphabet was conceived and drawn, but also the people responsible for fostering my initial interest in letters.

Stencil typefaces are popular because they are striking and decorative, and their associations - whether Utility, Travel, Vernacular, etc - are evocative. Anostencil is developed from, but not exactly like, our Ano typeface. Ano’s geometric skeleton, tweaked a bit, allows for a level of abstraction while retaining legibility. Some of Ano’s characters, such as the a, e, f and r, have been amended to make clearer, more graphic shapes when the stencil design has been applied. Different application of the stencil gaps in the letters make functional but decorative and expressive linear forms. This is particularly evident in Anostencil’s extended character set which features codified, semi abstract shapes. So the stencil design in Anostencil has been applied in not necessarily the most logical or immediate way, but in a way that makes each letter a striking and graphic shape.

Le rock is the newborn sister of my first typeface Jazmo and a relative of my music-inspired font family. Le Rock seems to wiggle and jiggle a little as if it invites you to dance. This is caused by the gaps in the individual characters. The typeface can also be seen as eroded, carved and sculpted by mother nature. But besides, the design of Le Rock can also be associated with the characteristics of stones: Solid and since ever, here, there and everywhere. To walk on, lean against, to be surrounded by, to build with and to shelter in. It cannot be denied, that there are also some comic art influences. The font is outspoken enough to be used in any form of graphic design, like poster and flyers, but at the same time it remains readable enough for longer texts.

Designed in 1928 by Alessandro Butti under the direction of Raffaello Bertieri for the Nebiolo foundry, Paganini defies standard categorization. While it definitely is a classic foundry text face with obvious roots in the "oldstyle" of the Italian renaissance, its contrast reveals a clear underlying modern influence. In a typical Italian artistic fashion, Paganini manages to be a superb text face while having enough priceless ornamental moments to make it great in display uses as well: Check out the splayed M, the wide-tailed g, the flowing tail on the y, the high-armed k, etcetera. While the original metal version was limited to five basic fonts, this digital expansion includes small caps in the three main upright weights, plenty of alternate forms in all fonts, a super-seductive Open font, and an expanded language support covering the majority of Latin-based languages.

A modern sans serif with open round forms. The ”round“ letters emphasize the condensed open oval; the light counter forms provide the rhythm of the typeface, causing the typeface to appear gentle and pleasing. The ”modern“ design of a and g being especially contributive here. All of the letters are recognizably narrow, almost ”condensed,“ the forms being very functionally shaped. The construction of the ”triangular“ upper case letters A M N V W as well as v and w, especially catches the eye with the shafts joined together as beams are stacked upon each other. With this construction Hedwig displays a down-to-earth touch. Contrary to the classical sans serifs, a few letters were given light echoes of serifs which promote fluency: a d l are displayed below the line in a reading direction and end in a compressed but also very short serif style; on m n p r the upstroke is gently displayed and on u the downstroke. For all the typo-maniacs among you designers there are alternative forms for a number of letters in Hedwig: A B D G I M R W and a d f g j l ß u. Even an antiquated ”long“ s and an upper case ß is available.
