Fortuita is a versatile sans fit for text or display. The name carries some of its history as it was born from logo sketches that fortuitously grew into a type family over eight years. It comes with a tall x-height, rendering it readable at smaller sizes. It has sixteen weights, eight regular ones, and their italics, each with small caps, something you may not see very often with sans serifs. It counts with old-style numbers that can switch to its lining, small caps, or tabular versions through open-type features. This is the display version of Librum. Librum means “book” in Latin, which I thought was appropriate. Bream is Latin for proclaim—appropriate for display work. The fonts are very close to Librum-Book and Librum-Italic, with the same OpenType features. The glyphs are modified a bit to make them a little more elegant, but that’s not very noticeable. Mainly, the letterspacing and kerning is tighter and more carefully fit to large point sizes. As for classification, I like oldstyle, Venetian, geralde, English oldstyle. There’s discrete modulation, slanted crossbars, full brackets serifs of medium thickness and sharp cut ends. Goodchild Pro is a pragmatic text face, equipped for sophisticated academic typography. The face has a large x-height, as there is little point in adding to the stock of rangy “book” Jensons. Despite this departure from the archetype, in other respects Goodchild is true to the original letter forms in its tight fit, modulation of stroke contrast, and manipulation of x-height and serif size. Jenson’s tiny tittles and diamond-shaped periods have, however, been relinquished. The finish is not the antiquing that one often finds in Renaissance revivals.

Here’s what happens when your trusty felt tip marker takes a trip to cartoonland. Each of Valentina’s plump characters has a rough and splotchy texture. Some letters even bounce up and down like a 3-year old. As cartoon faces go, Valentina is a bit on the imperfect side. But that’s normal for a funny face. Use it in a variety of comical situations. Make convincing captions under your own artwork or design greeting cards with it. You can even blow it up to huge sizes to create a wild and crazy look. Superfont type family, created by Tom Nikosey, California Typographic Designer/Illustrator is based on his design and illustration for the title art for the 1984 movie Supergirl. 'I've always felt someday I would design a complete font with variations, including Euro Glyphs and dingbats and numbers based on that logo and letters'. Cozyfonts Foundry is the manifestation of a career-long desire to create fonts in 2011 with his release of Aladdin Bold font family. Superfont is the 22nd font family release. Superfont has a 1960s superhero feel and movement. The entire font family is italic by style. There's a hint of Retro-Moderne in it's overall look. The 1960s ushered in the supersonic era in travel and technology with the jetset look in fashion, product design, fabric design, and type design. Superfont is Cozyfont's take on that era with the innocent future-forward attitude in it's glyph's personality.

The first plain weight of Cutoff was designed in 2005 to be used in Miele, an independent Italian free magazine. The need was for an elegant, unusual and legible semi-serif with contemporary flavour. I was fascinated by the deconstructivist work of Jeff Keedy (Hard Times Thick), Phil Baines (Can You, You Can) and Otl Aicher (Rotis), so my aim was to get the feeling of a cut transitional typeface; at the same time felt the exigence to work on the whole shape of the glyphs, in order to soften the “90s deconstructivist” effect and obtain a more balanced and readable design. In the last years I further worked on the typeface adding the other styles, extending the character set and refining the letterforms. Finally the precious collaboration with URW++ brought in 2010 to a complete OpenType Pro font family, with multilingual and advanced typographic features. Fulvio Bisca, July 2010

Irpin Type is an original font dedicated to the city of Irpin. Intended for everyday use, for books, logos, corporate style. It can also be used in posters and presentations where a confident character is needed. This font suits a large size, but it has good readability even in a small one. This is a modern slab serif with geometric shapes, inspired by the Ukrainian avant-garde of the 20th century. It has characteristic alternates for "G", "a", "u", and "&". Irpin is a city of Ukraine in the suburbs of Kyiv. On March 24, 2022, by the Decree of the President of Ukraine in order to celebrate the feat, mass heroism and resilience of citizens, shown in the defense of their cities during the repulsion of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, the city was awarded the honorary title "Hero City of Ukraine"

Inspired by the strange, blocky lettering on the sides of a set of a set of plastic kitchen containers in my childhood home, 8th Avenue is a sophisticated, somewhat syncopated font with a retro look and feel that at the same time brings a very modern attitude to your design. 8th Avenue works well as display font for packaging, headlines and logos. Those pastel turquoise plastic boxes from the early 1950s, with white screen printed letters reading FLOUR, SUGAR, COFFEE etc. on one side were a simple quiet presence in our home back then and for decades after. Seeing them, even that soft blue-green colour felt like home. SUGAR, the soul survivor of that set has become one of those mundane items of daily life that somehow become simple icons of another time, ripe with memories. Obviously I had to make a font. It took the Italian designer Antonio Pace more than five years to create Linotype Gianotten™, a successful new interpretation of the classic Bodoni types. To re-draw the 200-year-old characters for the world of modern digital technology, Pace studied Giambattista Bodoni's original punches at the Bodoni Museum in Parma. He felt that previous Bodoni interpretations were not well suited for body texts, so he focused his study of Bodoni's "Manuale Typografico" on the types made specifically for text sizes. Consequently, his Bodoni has strong hairlines, rounded transitions and shorter, fluted serifs - elements that help to achieve readability by providing an overall tranquil effect. This contemporary, highly readable family is an excellent choice for text settings in books, newspapers, and magazines. Incidentally, the name Gianotten has nothing to do with Bodoni, but was chosen by Pace and Linotype to honor Dutch typographer, Henk W. J. Gianotten."

ITC Flora is the work of Dutch designer Gerard Unger, and is named for his daughter. He started by doing calligraphy experiments with felt-tip and ballpoint pens, and developed these drawings into a formalized script typeface. Swiss typographer Max Caflisch advised the Dr.-Ing Rudolf Hell GmbH technology firm to add a new round-nibbed script face to their Digiset type library, and in 1984, Flora was released by Hell. Unger used a chancery cursive skeleton in this design, which imparts grace and movement. Flora was also intentionally designed to be simple and sturdy, and with its minimal variation in thick/thin stroke ratio, it worked well on the early digital typesetting machines. In 1989, the International Typeface Corporation released the font. ITC Flora continues to work well on current printers and typesetters, and it has an enduring popularity for uses that range from short text passages to display headlines.

I became interested in designing Bodoni Classic because of a lazy graphic designer at Jacques Damase publishing house. He had to change a single letter on a bookcover about J. B. BODONI. The French call him Jean Baptiste instead of Giambattista! And that unknown graphic designer just took any old “J” from some newly cut Bodoni. All the new Bodoni cuts have square serifs, whereas the originals had rounded serifs and slightly concave feet. The single letter “J” with the squared off serif was for me like a road sign to start redesigning the entire Bodoni family. That’s exactly what I started in 1993 and a dozen years later I am finished. Okay, I am still adding new Bodoni Classics, but those are my personal additions. Romper is a slightly narrow handwritten sans in four weights and it is perfect if you want to convey a casual and friendly feel. It was designed with the idea to be used on comic books, mobile applications and children’s books, thus it has a Dancing Baseline version (Romper DB) and a Slanted version (each of them in four weights as well). The family is equipped with 450+ glyphs, has Latin Extended and Cyrillic Support (both Russian and Bulgarian) and a lovely set of extras. The family includes a lot of discretionary ligatures and alternate letters for more variety in the design. Overall, Romper is cute, amiable and really versatile, so it will fit most applications - think greeting cards, menus, merchandise, books, packaging, websites, etc.

Protest is inspired by protest posters and the power of the people! Each glyph is written by hand with a Sharpie® Magnum marker on big sheets of paper. It is designed to fit more into the poster and still be legible for the media from a block away. It's bold, slightly condensed, and neatly drawn with love and conviction, with the warm imperfection that comes from being hand drawn. Protest consists of over 1,430 glyphs. This includes 300 alphanumeric glyphs with 3 contextual alternates each, 20 stylistic alternate glyphs, and 20 protest themed dingbats. Contextual alternates will rotate through automatically when OpenType features are enabled, giving it more human irregularity. Protest supports 219 latin-based languages, using Underware’s Latin Plus glyph set.

Sometimes it's easy to find a name to fit a font design, other times it's a struggle because of the sheer number of digital fonts available and the number of names already taken. Classification JNL stretches a point to arrive at its name. The attractive sans design was found as a hand-lettered title on a piece of vintage sheet music called "My Hawaiian Souvenirs". During the 1940s, the popular mode of travel to other countries was by steamship. Steamship passengers were assigned their accommodations by the type of passage they booked (such as First Class and Tourist), thus they were in various levels of classification. This aside, Classification JNL is a nice alternative to "standard" condensed fonts for design projects.

Fresno is a two-font family. Fresno Inline and Fresno Black. Fresno Black is a recent addition. It can be used alone, and it is carefully tailored to fit behind the Inline font to add color to the inline. There are alternate characters: A, M & N in the caps and lowercase key positions. Fresno is a square gothic style typical of Mid-20th Century Showcard Lettering. A lettering genre known as “Gaspipe.” Signage samples similar to this still exist on buildings in my home town, Oakland, California. I have designed over a half dozen variations of this form over the years. Including Amboy. Golden Gate Initials, Matinee, Motel, and Hotel. Designed in 2001 by Jim Parkinson, Fresno has recently been refreshed, enhanced, and re-released.
