Neuzeit S itself was a redesign of D. Stempel AG's DIN Neuzeit, created by Wilhelm Pischner between 1928 and 1939. Intended to represent its own time, DIN Neuzeit must have struck a harmonious chord. DIN Neuzeit is a constructed, geometric sans serif. It was born during the 1920s, a time of design experimentation and standardization, whose ethos has been made famous by the Bauhaus and De Stijl movements in art, architecture, and design. Upon its redesign as Neuzeit S in the 1960s, other developments in sans serif letter design were taken into account. Neuzeit S looks less geometric, and more gothic, or industrial. Separating it from typefaces like Futura, it has a double-storey a, instead of a less legible, single-storey variant. This distinctive chunky design has a wide range of possibilities as a display face. With a nod towards Deco this strong, bold and well balanced font has a wide range of uses. Onion Mill is based on my own handwriting, when I want to mimic the classic letters from comics. This type of texting can be super useful when you have a massive amount of text that needs to be good looking, as well as legible! You have 4 different versions of each letter to choose from - enough to randomise the appearance of your text!

Neverland is my attemp of a lettering font. I was inspired by the letters in displays of retaurants. It will work great in posters, shirts, magazines and displays because it has a charming feel. I received a lot of help from my good friend Maximiliano Sproviero (Lián Types). The name is based on the tale of Peter Pan from James Matthew Barrie.

Nightspot JNL was modeled from one of many display alphabets created by the late sign painter and lettering expert Alf Becker. His work has graced the pages of Signs of the Times® magazine for decades. Special thanks to Tod Swormstedt of the American Sign Museum and ST Publications, Inc. in Cincinnati, Ohio for providing the source material for this typeface.

The requirements of Middle Ages scribes who copied and produced books in monasteries were fundamentally to preserve space, due to the high cost of the writing surface. During this long period of the development of Gothic forms, many other variations of the style of black letters appear: Textur or “Gothic-antique”, another group called Rotunda preferred by Italian and Spanish scribes. In 1490, the style "Bâtarde" (according to the the French classification) began to be widely used in Germany with more rounded shapes and named Scwabacher (probably derived from the city of Schwabach, but not certified) Fractur is a more condensed and narrower form than Schwabacher. This style is attributed to Johann Neudörfer of Nuremberg, cut in 1513; it was quickly imitated, therefore a few years later became to be a German national identity that extended over the next four centuries. The shape of its characters can be considered as a fusion of Texture and Schwabacher: the lowercase actually has medium strictly vertical and half curved strokes. The first expressions of the baroque influence this writing whose appearance of movement is due to the ornaments applied to the uppercase letters and the ascending and descending features of the lowercase. Despite having spent so many years and being a typeface not suitable for extensive reading texts, the Gothic Fractur has endured over time for possessing a strong and solid characteristic, as well as being closely linked to the spirit of gothic cathedrals of countries in northen Europe. In fact, it is probably that this expressive feature leads them to be chosen in the most varied graphic communication needs, which run from from banks and financial companies, insurers, law offices, publishers, newspapers and TV networks, till alcoholic drinks, funeral tombstones, packaging and even tattoos.

Zanzabar is an exotic display font with a distinctive Middle Eastern flair. Its characters loosely mimic the Arabic script with lowercase letters being much smaller than uppercase. Special emphasis was given to the wispy, brush-like appearance of its characters for a suggestion of authenticity. This works best from far away or at small sizes. Although decorative by nature, the entire character set is relatively easy to read. Use Zanzabar for a restaurant logo, children’s book, or a movie poster.

Arch Creek JNL is Jeff Levine's all-caps re-interpretation of a classic typeface of the past; Beton. Clean lines and slab serifs make this design a wonderful display face for attention-getting headlines. The beautiful watercolor print used in the font flag is by a good friend of Jeff's - Miami artist Michael George, and is used by permission.

Through his hands-on experience choosing fonts as a graphic designer, type newcomer André Simard developed a type family with a good measure of design sensibility. Albion’s Marker No.1, as the name suggests is the first in a series of ‘Marker Pen’ typefaces- merging good type design practice with deliberately casual and hand-drawn letter forms. Inspired by the great classic typefaces such as Bembo and Caslon, the design of Marker No.1 offers a unique blend of legibility and relaxed randomness.

The Fontazia Stiletto font was inspired by my personal obsession with shoes. This is a stylized version of some of the lovely footwear found in my personal closet as well as some of my equally obsessed friends. You'll find 52 assorted shoe illustrations ranging from sandals to boots, some a little strange, but all in good fun.

Based on Times New Roman of Monotype, 1932, by Stanley Morison and Victor Lardent, and other versions of Times. It has many characteristics of an Old Style serif faces; it was designed for better legibility in combination with good economy. Widely used in books and magazines, reports and office documents, and also for display and advertising.

Styla is a refined romantic sans, in the best tradition of Didot and Bodoni. The combination between Styla’s feminine grace and sharp endings creates an air of seduction, ideal for magazines, ads and books on fashion, fine arts, philosophy, luxury goods, women and love. Export Drive is a bold condensed stencil font of the kind traditionally used to mark tea chests, packing cases and other goods in transit. Nowadays of course its applications are universal, although it is particularly well suited to branding or publishing projects which strive for a sense of freshness, urgency and immediacy, or a rugged, rough-and-ready feel.

Organic Space is about preserving what natural goodness there is left in the world, with its use of curves and space usage. It represents the selection of consumers, which choose organic products instead of the alternative genetically modified version. This typeface aims to be organic and unique. This font can function as headings, subheadings and body text.

Linotype Auferstehung is part of the Take Type Library, selected from contestants of Linotype’s International Digital Type Design Contests of 1994 and 1997. German designer Johannes Plass was influenced by historic broken letter faces, particularly Caslon Gotisch, although the rounded corners give the font a handwritten look. Linotype Auferstehung is particularly good for headlines in larger point sizes.

Spring is in the air! My chickens are broody and are sitting on an ever increasing pile of eggs; my fruit trees are budding and the sun is shining! Sunny Weather is a happy kind of font: it was handwritten, using a Sharpie pen. It comes with double letter ligatures and a good dose of vitamin D!

Ondine is one of the early typefaces of Adrian Frutiger. It looks as though it were written with a broad tipped pen, however, Frutiger actually cut the forms out of a piece of paper with scissors. The forms of Ondine are reminiscent of the humanist period, the high point of the Italian Renaissance text typefaces of the 15th century. This movement was centered in Florence, the base of the Humanist movement overall, and the home of a famous type school of the time. The main goal of the educated writers was to faithfully recreate the writing of the admired literary works, whose aesthetic was as important as their content. Ondine displays a regular and open character. Texts set in this typeface give the impression of being hundreds of years old. Ondine should be used in point sizes of 12 and larger and is best for short texts and headlines.

Bombelli is a font that looks like it has been handwritten by a meticulous architect in one of those hand-drawn blueprints of the old days. I chose the name to honor one of my ex-bosses -- a graphic designer-architect who taught me a lot of things when I was young and needed the money. One of the things he taught me – and probably the most important one – was to always be on time in the morning. He never said a word about me being late, but it worked. He taught me about being meticulous in detail and many other things I only appreciated much later. This clear and straightforward font deserves bearing his name.
