The lettering found on an 1878 Salt Lake City advertisement for the Forepaugh’s Circus inspired Faux Pas JNL, which is a bit of a pun on the circus’ name and also a commentary on how this unusual lettering style seems to break all of the rules on stroke width and balance. According to Wikipedia: “Adam John Forepaugh (February 28, 1831 - January 22, 1890) was an American entrepreneur, businessman, and circus owner. Forepaugh owned and operated a circus from 1865 through 1890 under various names including Forepaugh's Circus, The Great Forepaugh Show, The Adam Forepaugh Circus, and Forepaugh & The Wild West. In 1889, Forepaugh sold his circus acts to James Anthony Bailey and James E. Cooper and he sold his railroad cars to the Ringling Brothers. The Ringlings used the equipment to transform their circus from a small animal-powered production to a huge rail-powered behemoth, which later purchased the Barnum & Bailey Circus. BlackWhite is a titling typeface created by Ferdinay Duman in 1989 styled after the designs of the late 1980s. Like the name says, the figures emphasizes the play between dark and light. To this end, most inner spaces have been deleted. The constructed outlines of the robust figures draw the attention. In some weights, Duman split the figures horizontally, giving them a unique look. The technical and mechanical BlackWhite is perfect for generous headlines on fliers or in trendy magazines.

Summerisle was developed from a small sample of hand-lettered characters in one of the two theatrical posters for the cult movie The Wicker Man. The style combines elements of Celtic and Art Nouveau design with a bit of the feel of the late sixties paganistic theme of the movie. We've expanded it to a full character set while preserving the unique look. The name for the font comes from the name of Christopher Lee's pivotal character in the movie.

This typeface was inspired by Gering and Remboldt's work during the late 1490s. Their printing concern, the Soleil d'or in Paris, was one of the printing business to engage in the use of blackletter printing, when the rest of the Parisian printers where using humanist influenced roman typefaces. This peculiar backwards trend was really one of the original examples of "retro", taking advantage of the desires of the more conservative northern Europe that had not yet embraced the newer roman types.

One in the series of fonts called Whiz-Bang Wood Type, intended to be set large and tight. Jefferson Pilot’s unusual letter treatment isn't for every project, but for projects that need a great "old-timey" look, it’s perfect. Named for a city in East Texas that was a port city on the late 1800s, but today is landlocked. Both versions of this font contain the Unicode 1252 Latin and Unicode 1250 Central European character sets, with localization for Romanian and Moldovan.

This font was inspired by the very well-known humanistic script called "Cancellaresca". This variant was used by a lot of calligraphers in the late 1400s, specially by the Venetian Giovannantonio Tagliente, whose patterns were mainly used for this font. You can compare this with 1610 Cancellaresca. Numerals were inspired by Da Vinci manuscripts, from the same period. We added accented characters and a few others not currently existing at the time. A lot of titling alternates and ligatures are also included.

François Boltana was a French prolific lettering artist during the late 20th Century. He created the Stilla typeface in 1973. Stilla is a cursive “Fat Face”-style design, reminiscent of the first large advertising and display types produced in the wake of the successful Bodoni, Didot, and Walbaum text faces. Because of this pedigree, Stilla is the perfect headline choice for applications that look back to the 19th century. Stilla could also be used for very short headlines or big logos.

According to Wikipedia, Tin Pan Alley is the name given to the collection of New York City music publishers and songwriters who dominated the popular music of the United States in the late 19th century and early 20th century. The name originally referred to a specific place: West 28th Street, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues in Manhattan. With this in mind, Tin Pan Alley JNL, a typeface based on the bold hand lettering from a vintage piece of sheet music is aptly named.

Sombrieul is Greater Albion’s greatest and grandest Edwardian display typeface yet. Just the thing for any project with a late 19th/early 20th century inspiration. Sombrieul has a LOT of opentype features:- stylistic alternates, ligatures, discretionary ligatures, small capitals, title forms, swash capitals, old-style and lining numerals, numeral title forms. Of course, these features don’t allow for infinite variability in appearance, there must be some limits after all! They do allow for a lot of variety, however! There are over 1,000 glyphs...

Ela Demiserif is the typeface I originally designed for the business of my second wife and mother of my two sons; her name is, of course, Michaela. Ela - the typeface - is suitable for magazines, newspapers, posters, advertiments, books, text, documentation/business reports, business correspondence, multimedia, and corporate design. Because lately this typeface became very popular I decided to extend it to eight weights and I added italic and smallcaps versions to it. So now Ela is a full fledged typeface.

Eckhardt Sans JNL continues Jeff Levine’s “mini series” of fonts modeled after hand-lettering used by sign painters; and named after his good friend, the late Al Eckhardt of Allied Signs in Miami, Florida. Clean and somewhat condensed, this sans face has chiseled edges on many characters and the warmth of the lettering once made by brush or ink pen. Use this font in conjunction with any casual typeface to invoke the days of sign shops and talented lettering artists.
