Something about the swoopy loops in the uppercase characters of this typeface, originally called "Ronde", reminds one of the signature 'do of a certain real-estate-mogul-turned-TV-celebrity, and so this font was named. Delightfully different, this face can be playful or formal, as suits the the occasion. To complete its nineteenth-century creds, the font includes classic bishops fingers at the ASCII tilde and ASCII circumflex positions. Both versions of the font include 1252 Latin, 1250 CE (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan).

The box cover of “Drawing Stencils No. 3 for Use on Slate or Paper” [a children’s drawing set produced by Montgomery, Ward & Company of Chicago circa the 1890s] had its title in an elegant spurred Roman type face. Working from the few letters available, a complete character set was created that resulted in Antique Packaging JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions. To note, this is the 1500th font release from Jeff Levine Fonts since its inception in January of 2006.

Burlington was designed by Alan Meeks in 1985 and is a decorative typeface in the neoclassical style of the middle of the 19th century. Characteristic of faces from this time is the low x-height, which makes the font look as though it is reaching upward. This combined with the white areas in the strokes give Burlington a light, airy feel. During the 1960s Hippie movement, a large amount of the rock and roll poster art was strongly influenced by the Art Nouveau period of the early 1900s. A poster for an appearance by The Doors at San Francisco’s Cow Palace Exposition Center (presented by Fillmore East and West owner Bill Graham) featured some wonderfully eclectic Nouveau-styled serif hand lettering. Now recreated as a digital type face called Cow Palace JNL (and named for the performance venue), the font is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Pokerface is an industrious mixed-case display font devised on the theme of playing cards, designed by Jim Ford. Most letterforms in the font have 'four of a kind' while some are only available in pairs. It features Clarendon-style slab serif and grotesque sans serif forms. Furthermore, the letterforms are 'shuffled' to give a random appearance in standard text. Polke is a single weight display face brimming with style and charm but simultaneously exuding impressive core strength and a vibrant personality. Floating ball terminals rub shoulders with contrasting sharp and rounded letterforms to produce a distinctively decorative headline font built on robust foundations. Polke's name is derived from the striking terminal dots which dominate the character set, creating a Polka-Dot effect throughout. I also had the artist Sigmar Polke in mind which explains the spelling, and so the two ideas simply morphed together.

Typewriters are becoming scarce, but fonts designed to look like they came from typewriters aren't. In this case, however, Gripewriter is meant to look as if it were typed on a textured paper and enlarged, emphasizing flaws and lending it a funkier, grungier look than your average typewriter face. This was originally called Hypewriter until it was pointed out that a font already existed with that name. The current name is a better fit, anyway, since Gripewriter looks like it might hold a grudge.

Ryno Slab is a superslab that was born out of a need for an aggressive, heavy, geometric display face that did not appear clunky. Its serifs are so thick, you could create reasonably legible word shapes by using all caps and masking the words out. Ryno Slab’s tough geometric exterior and squarish forms make it suitable for tight setting in posters, t-shirts, and artwork. Also, an extended character set with support for European languages make Ryno Slab a good fit for magazine headlines.

Tarocco is a typical book face with good readability and rather tall x-height. The origin for this typeface is found in Nordisk Antikva. A typeface especially constructed with attention for the Swedish language. Waldemar Zachrisson was determined to realize his ideas and in 1906 he began to cooperate with the foundry Genzsch & Heyse, based in Hamburg. Some influences of Jugendt can be found and the typeface were released in 1910. It became rather popular until around 1930. The MRF version includes 7 weights all together.

Rosalia is an impulsive typeface designed by Heinz Schumann in 1964 as Stentor for Typoart Dresden. The marked stroke contrast and the spontaneous look typical of handwriting gives the typeface a lively, energetic character. The generous capitals lean slightly to the right and contrast beautifully with the reserved, upright lower case letters and can also be used for initialing. ITC Zinzinnati is based on a font called Ohio, released in 1924 by Die Schriftguss A.G. Typical of the Plakatstil letterforms of the time, the original font had a rough outline, as if drawn with a brush. Nick Curtis has smoothed the rough edges, which enhances the design's playful curves and engaging charm. As for the name: it's the punchline to an old vaudeville routine that starts with the question, Name a city in Ohio that begins with a 'Z.'" Pie in the face, comin' atcha!"

This decorative font is based on Cyrillic Vyaz of XV-XVI centuries. This type of letters were used as display faces in sacred texts. In Vyaz, the letters are characteristically fitted to each other so the letter sequences look as one solid ornamental frieze. Koi is a highly original, outline display font. Each character is represented by a single continuous line to create a fluid and rhythmic look. The result is something of a hybrid, sitting somewhere between an outline and an inline style, and with an asymmetrical look — something quite rare in a typeface. Many of the characters look like ready made logotypes. Further customisation is easily achieved by extending the end strokes of characters, possibly aligning them and joining them to others to create bespoke arrangements.
