Typefaces with very thin verticals and fat, square serifs were popular in the 19th century for display. Hollywood helped associate this style with the Old West, but reference books identify some of it as Italian style. A set-aside work file featuring a bold sans serif typeface that may or may not have had a vintage source history was given a new treatment.
