The typefaces Largo Mager (Light) and Largo Halbfett (Medium) were cast for the first time in 1937 by Ludwig & Mayer based on the designs by Hans Wagner. One weight Largo Licht (Outline) was added in 1956. All fonts were only configured with capitals. The digital version of Largo has pointed serifs and not the slightly rounded ones seen in the hot metal versions which gives the typeface a more elegant note. Largo is often used for fine printing jobs as business cards or formal invitations, or in the fashion and cosmetics fields. Hans Wagner was born in Munich in 1894 and died in 1977 in Altenburg where he had worked as a painter, graphic designer and book designer. In addition to the Largo typeface, he developed, among others, the Altenburger Gotisch (1928), the Welt-Antiqua (1931-1934) and the Wolfram (1930).

The other day I was at a market with my kids and they had this really retro kind of circus thing. The signs and posters there, were designed in a really sloppy and poor manner - but they all had a lot of naive charm! We eat Asian food a lot, so our hot sauce of choice usually is sambal. Moutarde is a good name for this fine, handmade font. Alles Kaputt means ‘everything’s broken’ in German. I always wonder why my stuff breaks so easily, especially my mobile phones (I have had 7 in the last two years). Maybe I am careless, but I believe that there is a more or less scientific explanation that chaos and destruction are far easier than harmony and creation. I am no scientist, so don’t take my word for it! Alles Kaputt is a nice script font. I made it with a felt tip pen I borrowed from the kids. Use it for texts on product packaging, book covers and websites. Or, whatever you fancy!

In the spirit of the old days, before water sparkled and before typefaces were known as fonts, Chank is proud to introduce Chippewa Falls the font. This font comes with fancy swirly uppercase letters and stout small caps for lowercase, as well as a heart-warming story. Chank rescued this former custom font from an abandoned design proposal. He gave it some TLC and before long a retro typeface emerged, with lettering worthy of good old fashioned sleigh rides and candy canes. Enjoy this font as you would a cup of hot cocoa next to a potbelly stove on a snowy day.

Aladdin Black is the 3rd member of our Aladdin Bold Font Family. This new style is extra bold and slightly rounded on the outsides of the glyphs. It is fat, fancy, fearless, forward, devilish, heavy, and stylized. Aladdin Bold was my first font introduced in 2012. I've always felt there were possibilities of adding styles to this family and something triggered the decision, so...here it is. I took much time deliberating over many of the finer details in this version of Aladdin and I hope the 'devil is in the details' for whoever decides to try on Aladdin Black.
