It was my first attempt to drawing a Hebrew alphabet to mach directly with other typeface (Latin) which I already designed. The Latin version is an handwriting display typeface influenced by chancery handwriting from the Italian Renaissance (broad-nib pen). One of the most typographic characteristic is there wavy forms, especially the serifs, where contains some of the main calligraphic references from this font family. The Hebrew script contain reverse contrast, the vertical proportions are more tall and the stroke weight is slightly more strong than latin lowercase to produce a correct visual balance between them, especially on small sizes (text proportions). This Hebrew square book-hand was influenced by Sephardic script style. The Latin characters contains interrupted strokes, the same was made for Hebrew letterforms to transpose correctly the same calligraphic approach between these two different alphabets.

Alghera Pro is a casual script font family.  It was digitally engineered in 1996 by Pat Hickson of P+P Hickson and Steve Jackaman of International TypeFounders, Inc. (ITF).  Jackaman revamped the family in 2017 and added wider language support to include Western, Central, and Eastern European languages. Alghera Pro has a hand-written, antique feel, and was inspired by an old label on a bottle of Portuguese wine.  As with all the Red Rooster “Pro” versions, the family contains a 40% larger glyph set and improved designs.

The island of Fuerteventura is more known for its white sand beaches and windsurf-friendly constant winds than for its typographic marvels. Still, it's on the walls of a ballroom next to its white-sand beaches that Debora Manetti found the hand-painted letterforms that she took as inspiration for her typeface Sala de Fiestas. The resulting font was a condensed sans serif full of curious details and a jumpy latino vibe that many years after still keeps its freshness and vernacular charme. Francesco Canovaro took the original typeface as a starting point for a grand tour into sign-painter aesthetics, developing a reboot of the original into a new type family: Salad. While being faithful to the original proportions and feeling, Salad provides extreme versatility through its five-weights range, its extended charset and its set of Open Type features including stylistic sets, alternates, positional numerals, small capitals and case sensitive forms. Supernova is a new family that combines the spontaneity of a script typeface with the versatility of multiple weights and cuts. The development of script typefaces has largely been limited to variations in shape and proportion (and with the advent of OpenType technology, the addition of alternate letterforms). Their application has continued to be primarily linked to their emotional attributes, while roman types predominate in body texts. Supernova takes a step in a different direction and was conceived as a script typeface family comprised of several weights and cuts, including a versatile, eye-catching display version and a highly legible body-text version with five weights.

While working on a font based on Spencerian Script (a popular late 19th century handwriting style) we did some experimenting with original designs which created the general feel of Spencerian and brought to mind the spidery handwriting of old ladies and Dickensian clerks. The result was Arakne, a spidery script font with a really striking look.

Gilman Sans is the family member of Gilman, the serif that it was derived from. The idea for Gilman started simple enough, a serif typeface that works well for large amounts of text. However, after many struggles creating a quality typeface digitally, I decided to first draw the complete alphabet by hand on paper, and then trace that digitally. The result is a unique workhorse typeface with a subtle “human touch” that is very rare in this modern technological age. Gilman Sans has extensive language support and comes with many opentype features like true small caps, tabular lining figures, stylistic alternates, ligatures and more. Gilman Sans and Gilman are excellent compliments and work together harmoniously on the page.

Studio Neon is an all-caps display font constructed with three rounded-end strokes; the lowercase set is included as a repeat of the uppercase to make setting type just that little bit easier. It’s a modern rendition of neon sign lettering, with a decidedly art deco pedigree, and is intended for use in larger sizes of type, upwards of 36 pt. It’s perfect for a design that wants to imitate neon — use Photoshop layer effects to light it up! I originally started this font with only a few letters, since I could not find a neon-style font made with 3 strokes that looked modern. (Once I started, I found out why. It's a LOT of work!) Most traditional neon fonts include a “bent tube” element in the design; however, not all modern neon signage is constructed with the tubes bent. I also wanted to design a fun font that would have more life than just as an imitation of signage — something to inspire designers who love the geometry of art-deco type. So I made all the corners consistent, with no references to bent tubes. Use this font for any application that needs a bold and decorative look. Studio Neon should work well for sign production and even vinyl cut applications at larger sizes.

A bold, classic wood type newspaper headline was the inspiration for Early Edition JNL. The source of the type design was actually a dummy newspaper with the headline “Thursby and Archer Murders Linked” [which was used in the 1941 film noir classic “The Maltese Falcon” featuring an all-star cast headed by Humphrey Bogart, Mary Astor, Peter Lorre and Sidney Greenstreet].
