Smallstep - One geometric sans serif with a free spirit. If we presume that geometric typefaces play with the idea of what typography would look like in the future when all unnecessary elements would disappear, than most of their designers seem to envision the future in a rather metropolisque kind of way. We love geometric faces, but the cold and heartless feelings that most of them leave is just not our cup of tea. That is why we are happy to bring some optimism in that genre with our new typeface. We called it Smallstep. Smallstep is a typeface that follows the traditions of classic geometric sans serifs like “Futura”, but is at the same time friendly and whimsical. We took the liberty to deviate from the standard sans serif glyphs while drawing some characters (such as ”a” and ”r” ), others (“w” “k”) are completely redesigned. Probably the biggest trademark of this typeface is the way vertical lines in most lower case characters are “cut” so they end in a 60 degree angle. Smallstep is over all a expressive face, which means it brings some emotions to your design and feelings in itself, and should be used accordingly. Other than that, it is suitable for both headline and body text, print and web. So what kind of name is “Smallstep”? We view the type design process as a form of evolution: There can be no typeface that differs drastically from the current standards, since its characters would be unrecognizable and thus unreadable. But at the same time there are hundreds of faces that differ a little, and still manage to make a difference by moving with small steps towards better and more refined looks. Smallstep consist of 4 weights, that cover all the features, that are expected of a modern Opentype face: kerning pairs, ligatures, true italics and alternative characters, plus a set of symbols, that will help you start off your designs more easily.

Patzcuaro is a summer resort by a lake of the same name. It is situated 370 km west of Ciudad de Mexico and a visitor from Europe, on seeing it, will be reminded of the Austrian Rust or the South Bohemian Trebon. The town's colonial architecture is protected as a historical monument, the reddish-brown tint of the footings of the buildings, their white facades and even the type of lettering with red initials is prescribed - and these regulations are also complied with as far as cars are concerned. This colour scheme is splendid in combination with the rich gamut of greys of the stone window jambs, vaults, lintels and pillars. Joking apart, even the local petrol station is 16th-century in appearance. Patzcuaro Regular is a cosy, welcoming type face which is good for use on labels.

The inspiration source for MFC Spindler Borders is a collection of border treatments revived from the “Catalog 25 TYPE FACES” by Barnhart Brothers & Spindler. The border designs were recreated from two different border sets, “Classic Art Borders” and “Classic Black & White Borders”. This collection of borders represents a structured repetition of elements in various ways to create elegant patterns and backgrounds. You can start with a new document or work on a new layer within an existing document. Select MFC Spindler Borders from the font menu. (Some users may have font previewing enabled in the font menu which will cause the font name to appear as border elements, disable this option in order to choose the name) Make certain that the point size of the font is the same as the leading being applied to the font so the borders will meet up properly. While we’ve adjusted this within the font, your program may override these settings. For instance a 12 point font should have 12 points of leading. Antique Price Tags JNL is a collection of fifty-two decorative price cards recreating the look and charm of turn-of-the-last-century mercantile shops. The design is a hybrid of the decorative frame and dollar sign of antique price cards spotted in an online auction, and prices modeled from some gummed numerals once made by the Tablet and Ticket Company of Chicago under the brand name “Willson’s Gummed Letters” (after the company’s founder). Also included in the font are blank price cards with only a dollar sign, a cents sign or an empty frame, as well as a solid black frame for creating a backfill color. A companion font is available with the numbers in white on black panel backgrounds.

In the 1934 edition of the American Type Foundry’s “Book of American Type” is a selection of letterpress fonts which emulate typewriter faces. One design named “Bulletin Typewriter” served at the model for Cub Reporter JNL, and is available in both regular and oblique versions. The font has been monospaced in order to add a more traditional typewriter look to any project.

NATH !* Is a peculiar typeface. It’s design came by the fascination of Optical Illusions and 3D on a flat surface, like with Holborn and Powerplay. Sonopa is a classically unclassifiable face, with an array of standard and extended ligatures and alternates, tabular and lining oldstyle figures. In essence, it is a playful, hand-penned script, with elements of rigidity taken from more structured styles. Sonopa contains enough detail to fare well at poster sizes, with an evenness of color that is also suitable for text runs.

Here’s another nostalgic beauty from the Central Type Foundry of St. Louis, originally titled Harpers, designed for the popular newsweekly of the same name. Its bouncy, quirky letterforms will add vitality and visual interest to your headlines and subheads. All versions of this font include the Unicode 1250 Central European character set in addition to the standard Unicode 1252 Latin set.

An unannotated photocopy tucked inside the leaves of an old lettering book yielded this unusual and exuberant Art Deco face. The caps feature a simple “bubbly” pattern that makes this offering pack a punch, not unlike the German cherry brandy for which it is named. Both versions of the font include 1252 Latin, 1250 CE (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan).

Chrome Balance is an experimental bitmap font created by photographing hand-modeled play dough and adding a chrome effect. It has a unique and dynamic look and is designed to accompany bold and simple designs such as album covers, posters etc.. In 1956, Schriftgeißerei Genzsch & Heyse released the pattern for this typeface, designed by Werner Rebhuhn, under the name "Hobby". Despite its Eisenhower-era origins, the face retains its casual charm, spontaneity and freshness even after half a century. An offering from Barnhart Brothers & Spindler’s Catalog No. 9 from 1907, with the rather prosaic name of "Lining Gothic No. 71", inspired this non-nonsense and surprisingly ageless face. As versatile as it is simple, this typeface is a stylish choice for heads and subheads. Both versions of the font include 1252 Latin, 1250 CE (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan).

Hennepin derives from a bridge, a street and a county that share the same name in Minneapolis, MN. It is a serif font comprised of three agile weights: regular, light, and extra light. The character set contains typical OpenType features in addition to small caps, and old style numbers, but most importantly, it embraces stylistic alternatives that unite and complete this font.

The latest addition to the Astoria Range, Astoria Classic Sans has the same basic Characteristics as Astoria but with vertical stress. A sans-serif companion to Astoria Sans. Unlike Astoria, but like Astoria Classic, the Italics in form are old style yet with a modern look. Designed specificaly as a text face it still works very well as a headline font.

This exuberant face was suggested by a piece of French sheet music from the 1930s for the song Sur un Air de Shimmy, The name comes from an Australian song from the 1950s about a noncompliant boomerang. Both versions of this font contain the Unicode 1252 (Latin) and Unicode 1250 (Central European) character sets, with localization for Romanian and Moldovan.

Eckhardt Slabserif JNL is a bold, condensed slab serif font that's perfect for attention-getting headlines, signs, banners, price cards or any printed project where a strong type face is needed. Its name (as others in a series of sign shop-oriented fonts) is Jeff Levine's way of honoring his friend Al Eckhardt, who ran Allied Signs in Miami until his passing.

This jaunty display face was discovered in one of the many books on sign writing produced by Eric Matthews. The work was signed “King Cole", hence the font’s name. This typeface’s large x-height and tight spacing make it highly suitable for attention-grabbing headlines. Both versions of this font include the complete Unicode Latin 1252 and Central European 1250 character sets.

Inspired by Ernö Goldfinger's east London tower block of the same name, II Balfron is an imposing, all caps, one-weight typeface. Brutalist in form, the characters embody the principles of the distinctive 27-storey concrete profile with unexpected angles set within a rigid, structural grid. Much like Goldfinger's humanist, utopian housing ideals, the font is best viewed at large scale.

Neverland is my attemp of a lettering font. I was inspired by the letters in displays of retaurants. It will work great in posters, shirts, magazines and displays because it has a charming feel. I received a lot of help from my good friend Maximiliano Sproviero (Lián Types). The name is based on the tale of Peter Pan from James Matthew Barrie.

This sometimes-top-heavy, sometime-bottom-heavy, sometimes-centered typecase is based on an old Photolettering face designed by the irrepressible Dave West, originally called "Nickelodeon". That name was already taken, so I chose another with a nod to the 1953 film starring Leslie Caron. Both versions of this font include the complete Unicode Latin 1252 and Central European 1250 character sets.

Tale is an experiment to convert the script-style calligraphy into bitmap format. The two variants have the same dimensions, but (as the naming suggests), Forty has double amount of pixels in it when compared to Twenty. Both variants have hand made bitmaps to compliment these correlating point sizes, and you can always get the appropriate bitmaps by multiplying by two.

Virago Font consists of two alternative fonts namely Regular Virago which has a modern and contemporary soft impression while Virago Alternate has an old-fashioned vintage impression, both of which have their own distinct impression but have the same advantage of having lots of alternative fonts that make it easier for you to use it, so what are you waiting for?

A whimsical semi-script typeface named Belcanto, designed by Edwin Sisty for Photolettering in the 1970s, provided the pattern for this typeface. Elegant and engaging, this face is sure to put a smile on yours. The PC PostScript, TrueType and OpenType versions contain the complete Latin language character set (Unicode 1252) plus support for Central European (Unicode 1250) languages as well.

Original and highly decorative, Slotrip family is suited for creative and eye-catching display uses: posters, book covers, packaging, t-shirts, you name it. It won't go unnoticed. The family has 2 styles, both are unicase – upper- and lowercase forms have the same height. Stylistic alternates are available for some letters. Broad language coverage? Yes. Both fonts? Absolutely. Definitely trying? Amazing!

Bellas Artes is what happens when the brush of Angel Koziupa and the technical expertise of Alejandro Paul go face to face with the Art Deco aesthetic. The recognizable Koziupa curves become players of a game of halves, where there is no such thing as a better half, but both sides complete each other like in that perfect romance you will never forget. Bellas Artes is an excellent choice not only for packaging design, but also for book and music covers meant for the feminine demographic, collateral of classical taste, and of course pre-WWII visuals.

3 robbers is not a typeface family, only a collective name for three typefaces with the looks of handtexted characters: Kasper, Jesper and Jonatan. There are some common traits between them, but they are three individuals. As the three terrible" robbers in the Swedish writer Lennart Hellsing's Kamomillastad - the ones who borrowed their names to the typefaces - are three individuals. They always appear in the same order: first Kasper, then Jesper and last Jonatan. Swedish children love to sing about them and are not at all scared of them. All three robbers were released in 1995.

This family was inspired from the set of font faces used in Amsterdam by Daniel Elzevir to print the famous “Tractatus de corde...” the study on earth anatomy by Richard Lower, in 1669. The punch cutter was the famous Dutch Kristoffel Van Dijk. In our two styles (Normal & Italic), font faces, kernings and spaces are scrupulously the same as in the original. This Pro font covers Western, Eastern and Central European languages (including Celtic), Baltic and Turkish, with standard and “long s” ligatures in each of the two styles. The Roman (Normal) style contains a U stylistic alternate, and the Italique style A.

Come into the boudoir. This simple hand-drawn sans tries to invoke the same feelings as its name - and not to be overluscious. Boudoir is sweet and sensual like women, but it’s at the same time uncluttered and masculinely straightforward. The font borrows some playful capital shapes from the all caps Baronessa and draws inspiration for others from old classics. Thanks to the bolder weights, it can also be used in smaller sizes, you can combine different weights for different sizes to obtain a more balanced look, or you can just give emphasis using different weights.

Pen Swan is the latest offering from Jen Maton & Great Lakes Lettering. A Pen Swan is the species of an adult female swan. No: Jethro Bodine didn't design this typeface although, to look at it, you might be tempted to think so. Rather, the pattern was a product of the fertile imagination of famed lettering artist Alf Becker. The lowercase letters are the same as the uppercase, but angled differently so, if you want a randomized appearance, you can activate Contextual Alternates and the font will do the shift-key double-clutching needed. Both versions include the complete Unicode Latin 1252, Central European 1250 and Turkish 1254 character sets, with localization for Moldovan and Romanian.

Surf and Turf JNL was redrawn from hand-lettering on a souvenir folder for an event believed to be sponsored by Miami Beach's exclusive Surf Club on March 19, 1938. Entitled "Steeplechase Pier March 19 Surf Club Stroller", it's now lost to time whether the event recreated some of the fun and games of Atlantic City's famed Steeplechase Pier at the Surf Club, or if this was a special event trip to the New Jersey venue. It's also highly possible that the Steeplechase Pier referred to in the title was the one at Coney Island.
