This family of faces take their inspiration from the standard faces used by the Leroy® Automatic Lettering Machine, a mainstay for architects and draftsmen in Ye Olden Days of t-squares and triangles. Crisp, clean and retro-techno. Both versions of this font include the complete Latin 1252, Central European 1250 and Turkish 1254 character sets.

Why not take a giant leap back to the 1970s? Rakia is a science-fiction inspired font, with classic overtones of the 70s. Alternatively, it is a 1970s font with scoff overtones. Take your pick! It’s an all capitals face, with a strong suggestion of speed and motion about it. A wonderful display font and fun to use!

Our chef Martin Lorenz likes to mix cool and fresh cocktails - shaken, not stirred! You have to taste his awesome Martini or mix it yourself! To make matters more easy, cocktail master Martin reveals his special recipe: “The TpMartini refers esthetically to typefaces drawn with a pointed nib as the Bodoni or Didot, but with the clear distinction that it is obviously constructed by modules. The visual system for the TpMartin is based on a square 5x9-unit grid and three different basic forms with which the font and other elements are designed. The basic forms consist of a straight line and circles of two different sizes. The line can be extended, but the circles retain their related proportions.” One piece of advice: Don’t drink and type!

The ten font Turbinado™ Set was designed to be clear and easy to read with a friendly personality, ideal for advertising and packaging in both text and display settings. Included are three weights of brushed casual script, each with a dry version, two condensed all caps faces, another hand printed caps face and an Elements package with 100 brushed elements that include swashes, botanicals, shells, arrows, repeatable patterns and a few other doodads that play well with the fonts. Like our most recent release Fave, all of the fonts use the OpenType standard ligature feature to automatically differentiate consecutive lowercase letters and numbers, using separate glyphs rather than a single ligature so they can be set on a curve or colored separately, etc. They also automatically differentiate like characters that are separated by another letter when standard ligatures is enabled. The script fonts have alternate characters like swash glyphs for ends of words and a few ligatures too; single crossbar to unite the At and Att letter combinations etc. The two condensed faces also have a third set of less uniform glyphs that can be used to create a more quirky, fun and bouncy effect (see the ‘she sells seashells’ graphic above) when the discretionary ligature feature is on. The script fonts have 10+ lowercase t (and double t) crossbar alternates that can be selected from the OpenType glyph table manually, or you can enable the contextual alternates feature to automatically insert a bigger crossbar as the surrounding letters allow throughout a text box or document. Hello? Are you still there? :) And for those intrepid typographers who would rather fashion their own lowercase t to custom fit a specific design, all of the lowercase t ascenders and crossbars are also available separately in the glyph table, and can be combined manually.

Lomo, PLC is a Russian optical manufacturer, whose cameras have built up an international cult following since 1992. Swiss designer Fidel Peugeot recently tapped into this phenomenon, creating an astounding series of pixel fonts for use in a variety of applications-from websites to mobile phone displays. Aviano returns to lend its classic line to its newest variation, Aviano Royale--named so because of the rich flow the calligraphic capitals give the established font. The extended lowercase characters give an air of formality to the face as well and bestow on the family a deeper sense of wealth and power. This recent development of a timeless font, part of insigne’s annual tradition of adding to the Aviano family, was elected the clear winner in a poll of insigne design’s social media followers. And is it any wonder why? The long-handed elegance of Royale features graceful script capitals as well as widely tracked and smaller titling capitals, all which make Royale ideal in high-end applications and branding where titling with a taste of gentility is required. Royale’s suite boasts a number of OpenType alternates, most importantly of which are the alternate forms for the capitals. Whereas the default forms of the face are regal, it’s flourishes must be activated through the swash set. For a look more restrained, activate the stylistic alternates. It’s like having three different fonts in one! Additionally, there are baseline lowercase forms. The lowercase forms are 20% smaller in height than Aviano’s lowercase forms, so the families are not interchangeable. However, they can still be used well together. The script capitals could also be used separately as drop capitals and nicely complement any of the other 12 Aviano families. It’s time to look beyond common. Gibbs is a tough, sophisticated sans, inspired by the unique cast aluminum signs found on board the 1950s luxury liner SS United States and named for its designer, William Francis Gibbs. The design is appropriately transatlantic, somewhere in between industrial American vernacular lettering and English humanist styles. This face has a stiff machine-like quality which derives from it's ambiguous position between semi-serif, slab-serif and display. Barkpipe can't quite make up it's mind what category it wants to reside in.
