Berlin Sans is based on a brilliant alphabet from the late ’20s, originally released by Bauer with the name Negro, the very first sans that Lucian Bernhard ever designed. Assisted by Matthew Butterick, David Berlow expanded this single font into a series of four weights, all complete with expert character sets, plus a dingbat font. Etalage Script was drawn for the first time in the year 2000, based on a early 20th century lettering stencil with what farmer Boelema at Lalleweer stenciled his grainsacks. Eventually the script letter was developed as a typeface with a wink to the ‘lost’ display types for the ‘display window’ of graphic designer Ariënne Boelens, who in exchange made the website www.lalleweer.nl. What originated the Ariënne should be evident now.

Craw Modern was designed by Freeman Craw in 1958 and first released by The American Typefounders Company, (ATF). In typography, 'Modern' is a style of typeface (classification) developed in the late 18th century that continued through much of the 19th century. Artigo is an old style inspired typeface system for text. It was inspired by the handwriting aspect of the first roman types but it intends to be a contemporary interpretation. Its abilities are in small text with personality. The italics capture a lot of its dynamic feeling even more expressive on the display version that stands as the most handwritten one. It gives text a lot of personality and great readability.

Originally released by the Stephenson Blake foundry in England, Doric is modeled on one of the sans serifs of William Caslon IV, who was the first to interpret sans serif letterforms into a typeface (1816). Doric Bold has large, heavy capitals with uniform letter widths. It is often used for classified advertising in newspapers because these qualities coupled with a large x-height allow greater legibility at small point sizes.

Cupid Hearts is a hand written script, first drawn on paper and then remastered on the computer to give a smooth free flowing script,that looks perfect over the top of photos or as a logo. Swithin is based on hand lettering from the titles in a Victorian fairy tale collection. It has a playful look which seems just right for the holiday season, with some rough, hand-drawn variations which make make it feel more unique. It's conceptually similar to our Candlemas and Summerisle fonts, but has its own special personality. It ought to be excellent for holiday cards and other seasonal uses.

The pattern for this friendly face was found within the Keystone Type Foundry's 1884 specimen book, under the rather prosaic name of Round Gothic. This version retains all of the original's warmth and charm, while updating it to twenty-first century standards. Both versions of this font include the complete Latin 1252, Central European 1250 and Turkish 1254 character sets, along with localization for Lithuanian, Moldovan, Romanian and Turkish.

Louise font was based on the art of Louise Marie (lou) Loeber, a Dutch painter. She was born in Amsterdam in 1894 and flirted with several styles like De Stijl, Cubism and Bauhaus. Her artworks are characterized by a sober use of geometric shapes; lines, rectangles and triangles. Louise font consists of Caps, but the lower and upper case glyphs are quite different. Louise comes with extensive language support.

Of the many lettering gurus who published chapbooks on handlettering during its heyday, one of the most prolific was H. C. Martin. This quirky poster face was offered in one of his many Idea Books, and it remains as fresh and frolicsome today, some seventy years later, as when it first appeared. Both versions of this font include the complete Unicode Latin 1252 and Central European 1250 character sets.

Three Day Pass JNL is another addition to the large collection of stencil fonts from Jeff Levine. This design was based on a 1980s clone of a popular lettering guide first sold in the 1950s. To the untrained eye, many of the stencil designs look the same - but there are subtle nuances in the shapes of the letters and numbers that makes each font unique and slightly different.

The font, Madame, first appeared in a sample with similar fonts, presented by the Fonderie Typographique Française in the 19th century. The font consists of three cuts, letters, accents and numericals. The flamboyant Madame is meant for titles and headlines, emphasis in text or as initials. It combines well with both serif and sans serif fonts, but should be used sparsely to maximize the advantages of its ornate forms.

Hairline fonts are very clean, shining, elegant and even luxurious. They look great in fashion magazines, in the expansive world of beauty and glory. Messner is an extra-light all-caps face, especially suitable for larger sizes. Simplicity, purity and readability of its classic forms were on the first place in the creation process. Messner was a resource for designing the Kammerlander family and their combination looks very natural.

The first photo-typesetting machine in operation, the Uhertype, was introduced in 1925. It was a combination of manual phototypesetting machine and make-up machine. The machine’s typefaces were designed by Jan Tschichold. The patents on Uhertype were bought up at the time to prevent the invention of filmsetting spreading. Jan Tschichold has been very influenced by Gill Sans (1928) for this humanistic sans serif drawn in 1933/36 for Uhertype.

We’re in the process of buying a house. Our first bid was rejected, our second bid as well. Our third (and final) bid was accepted (yay!), so, for us, the old ‘third time lucky’ quote rings true! This is our first experience of creating serif fonts. It resulted in a modern slab serif family designed with symmetrical bracketed serifs for uprights and cursive serifs for Italics. It consists of 9 weight, going from Thin to Black with matching italics.

Stolzl is the text companion of the display family, Stolzl Display, which was optically tailored to perform as a functional addition to this concept steered font collection. Stolzl Text is a modernist interpretation of the first release, stripped of the primary stylised attributes, it is highly readable in print and on screen. Designed to perform at various sizes, Stolzl Text is a great addition to the type collection.

Like our first "1871 Dreamer Script" this script font was inspired from a lot of manuscripts, notes and drafts, written by the famous american poet Walt Whitman. However, it is a very different font, with a higher x-line, numerous different ligatures, alternates and twin letters, including fractions, and, as a real "Pro" font, usable not only for Western European, but also for Eastern and Central European, Baltic and Turkish.

Faber Serif is the Roman typeface which was born out of the sans serif design Faber Sans. The pro­portions are nearly identical to those of Faber Sans. In comparison, Faber Serif has heavy — although very short — serifs. The character of contrasting strokes is not very pronounced; therefore, this font is closely related to the first Roman typefaces from the 15th century. Faber Serif perfectly matches with Faber Sans!

Introducing our first old english black letter Royal Grande. Quite basic anatomy not the contemporary style. With this not too complicated black letter that make this font good for general display projects. We also make it a black letter family because we rarely see this kind of option in the market. Cirulis is a display sans family of two weights. Inspired by the lettering of Ansis Cīrulus (1883-1942) one of the first Eastern European designers. The artist’s heritage is characterized by letters with asymmetric widths, sliced cuts and various intrinsic features. By carefully studying forms and origins of the letters Asketic designed a new typeface that in a contemporary fashion relives early 20th century national romanticism of Eastern Europe.

This typeface is based on Albrecht Dürer’s work “Die Underweysung der Messung” (Institutiones Geometricae, Instruction in Measurement). Please note that this font needs special treatment when typesetting text. If you need black text, you need to type just capital letters separated by spaces. If you need coloured text, type both lower case and upper case (with the lower case character first), and then assign a colour to the lowercase letters only.

A September 29, 1920 edition of The San Diego Union ran the headline “Cicotte Confesses Baseball Fraud; Eight White Sox Players Indicted”. The White Sox baseball scandal was the first to reveal illegal gambling on the game. However, the headline itself was set in a bold slab serif type style [likely ATF Foster] which served as the model for Good Reporting JNL; which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Sultan Nahia, designed by Sultan Maktari in 2005, is a modern Kufi and a winner in Linotype’s first Arabic Typeface Design Competition. The design is very geometric and bold. This makes it suitable for large display sizes, especially in the area of advertising. The font includes a matching Latin design and support for Arabic, Persian, and Urdu. It also includes proportional and tabular numerals for the supported languages.

Originally ZionTrain was built as a (probably first in Cyrillic!) navigation typeface for the Kharkiv identity project and Kharkiv subway and airport navigation systems. We wanted comprehensible, distinctive letterforms, that can help everybody on the way from Babylon to Zion. The project was used in Kharkiv promotion at homeland and abroad, but was rejected by the new government. As a corporate typeface it was used for a few cultural projects.

Gloriana is based on hand lettered titles from an old fairy tale book. The illustrator isn't credited, and we had to create and modify a lot of characters, but we preserved the interesting personality of the original lettering. In creating Gloriana the popularity of Folkard was kept very much in mind, so it has some of the same features, including special flourished characters accessed with the option/alt key.

DBXLZX was inspired by the logo of the ZX Spectrum home computer, released in 1982 by Sinclair Research. For many designers the 8-bit pixel grid of the ZX Spectrum was one of the first steps into the realm of digital design. DBXLZX was initially developed by DBXL into a three weight family for use on the Armind record label of world famous trance deejay Armin van Buuren.

Hand lettered, the title on the sheet music for a 1940s hit song "Ti-Pi-Tin" inspired Guadalajara JNL. The melody and original Spanish lyrics were written by Maria Grever, one of Mexico's first successful female composers, with English lyrics supplied by Raymond Leveen. This decorative and fun type face brings to mind fiestas South of the border, and emanates the charm of Mexico's music, dance and colorful costumes.
