If there was an American Typeface Hall of Fame, Bank Gothic, designed by the great Morris Fuller Benton would hold a place of special distinction considering this design has survived so many trends in typographic fashion since being introduced in 1930. It's just as desirable today as it was over eighty years ago; arguably more. Today, Bank Gothic is a very popular choice as a titling face for science fiction books, posters and countless television and movie titles. It is also a popular typeface for use in computer games and digital graphics. GroupType’s 2010 revival of this American classic is true to the design, the period, and Benton’s aesthetic. GroupType worked with some of the most talented and experienced type designers that were historically grounded and sensitive to this design project. The original Jessen typeface, named in reminiscence of the great supporter of the printing art at the end of the 19th century, Peter Jessen, was designed in the years of 1924 until 1930. Bible Gothic was created by the famous German designer Rudolf Koch. Ralph M. Unger digitized this font exclusively for profonts in 2005, keeping his digitization as close as possible to the original design of Koch in order to preserve the distinguished character and the partly unconventional, original forms. It is based on Zapf’s thoughts about the squared-off circle known as a super-ellipse. The type was originally intended as a newspaper text face by Linotype. Destructive Decisions is a font based upon the inherent flaws of human nature—presented under the guise of complete legibility. Linotext was designed by Morris Fuller Benton in 1901 and first appeared with the name Wedding Text with American Type Founders in Jersey City, where its metal forms were cut by hand. The font was so popular that its forms soon began appearing with other font foundries under different names, Elite Kanzlei with D. Stempel AG, Comtesse with C.F. I like playing around with brushes and Chinese ink. I always have some kind of idea of what the final design should look like, but once it’s done, it never ever looks like what I had in mind. It’s letterforms represent the idea of a union splitting apart and the stylistic differences between the upper and lower case symbolise the notion of being different from one another. Research for this typeface started off in Romford which is an area where the majority of UK voters wanted to leave the European Union, hence the name. The BrightIdeas family contains two novelty fonts that have letters on light bulbs. The fonts have some characters on standing bulbs and some on hanging bulbs and these two sets are made to alternate with the OpenType contextual alternatives (calt) feature. This font was created when my son had some problems falling asleep: he'd cry, he wanted to sleep in a different bed, he wanted a different animal friend (he has Tij - a tiger, Meh - a sheep, Rafi - a giraffe, Moo - a cow, Woofy - a dog, Kikker - a frog). When you think of Zealand, you’ll probably think of NEW Zealand. But did you know that New Zealand was named after the Dutch province of Zeeland (meaning Sea-land)? And did you know that there are many sealands in the world? Denmark has Sjælland and there is even a micronation called Sealand off the coast of England. Zealand font is a handmade, all caps display font. I used a Japanese brush pen for the outlines and the fill. It has a nice textured look, making it ideal for book covers and product packaging.

My family and I are off to England for a camping holiday this summer. I have booked some small, basic campsites which are close to nature. The kids love to camp, especially since we can have a campfire at night! I was thinking about this when I worked on Camping Holiday font. It is a cute sans serif ‘book cover’ font. To tell you the truth, I don’t know what a juicy advice is - other than I guess it’s something positive and maybe even helpful. Well, what I do know is that this Juicy Advice is positive, helpful and playful. It’s a handmade comic font, with an outline version to compliment the Regular version. The outline version is also handmade, but not entirely sticking to the boundaries of the shapes of the Regular version. This leaves the outline somewhat off, but deliberately in order to keep the authentic feeling.

Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, the new Ashtronaut font is on fire and blasting off into outer space. This futuristic new font combines basic geometric forms like circles and dashes to form uppercase shapes that are softer and more traditional and lowercase letters with sharp and abstract characteristics. My kids asked me what killed the dinosaurs. I told them it probably was a meteor strike off the coast of Yucatán in Mexico. So, when I made this font, that little talk about the meteor hitting earth came to mind and a font name was born! Meteor strike is a slightly slanted brush font. It was made with my Chinese ink and a cheap brush (like most of my brush fonts). Meteor Strike comes with an attitude and a cheeky grin. It will sure leave a lasting impact on your designs!
