'Euclid. A New Type,' originally designed in the 1930s by modern American designer Alvin Lustig (1915-1955), has been revived as 'Lustig Elements' through a collaboration of designers Craig Welsh and Elaine Lustig Cohen. Only twelve letterforms from the original font design had been retained in archive material in the many decades since its initial development. Lustig Elements combines four simple, geometric shapes aligned to an underlying grid with letterform designs that hold true to the spirit of the original font. Lustig Elements initially came to life in 2015 as wood type cut at Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum. The digital version expands on the basic character set with a pro expanded latin character set, small caps and even an Inline variation.

Kings in Disguise is a chunky, balloon font of the sort used extensively during the 1970s. It has a retro, disco feel and is ideal for signs and logos. The name comes from a great comic book series published in the late 1980s. The engraved style has a limited character set.

Freestyle Script is the work of designer Martin Wait. It is an informal display typeface which perfectly renders the spontaneous qualities of hand-rendered brush lettering. The movie poster for the 1936 film “Dodsworth” had its title hand lettered in a thin Art Deco sans serif with a mix of both stylized and squared characters. Expanding on this unusual lettering combination, the final results became Drama Deco JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

A modern fraktur briefly based on the typeface Deutschmeister originally designed by Berthold Wolpe in 1934. With a lot of blackness and playful style it is well suited for posters, signage on windows or a book cover. Only one wight for now, but it may be expanded in the future.

Ernie is a new animated typeface by Jim Ford, intended as a complimentary serif design to Freeman Craw’s fun retro hit, Ad Lib. The serif drawings mimic the behaviors of Ad Lib, on a Clarendon-esque structure. The application of Ad Lib’s behaviors to a serif design highlights it's quirky characteristics; notably in the added contrast, the bending of serifs and the translation to Ernie’s ball terminals. The lowercase g is probably the most extreme example of this "translation." Ernie has a savvy system of text animation built in; with dualing lowercase alphabets, 34 ligatures, and an extensive glossary of custom words, all programmed to automatically make intelligent pseudorandom wordshapes. It's called RMS, aka the Randomagic System. The glossary of “buzz” words is based on the most common and powerful words in marketing and advertising, as well as words that are specific to Ernie’s intended uses.. Additionally, Ernie Alt provides the opposite randomization effects in lowercase text, thus reversing the rhythm of the bounce. Ernie Sorts is a bonus font which includes fun printers fists, expandable banners and other graphic elements. Elegant and idiosyncratic, AB Ticena is a display and extended typeface inspired by the ancient forms of Lombardic capitals. The sometimes quirky and capricious letterforms take their inspiration from medieval forms found in inscriptions and manuscripts where latin Roman capitals were taken to new stylistic and even extreme expressions. The ultra-wide horizontal proportions and its modulated, humanistic strokes gives it a more refined and contemporary edge. During the 2019 "36 Days of Type" we created a leafy letter for each day. After the project finished we decided it wouldn't be the end and translated those letters into a workable font we named "Dias de Follaje". We also added a whole range of additional glyphs to cover the extended Latin, Cyrillic, and Greek scripts as well as filling in the punctation. The uppercase glyphs feature the leaves whereas the lowercase showcase the letterforms without leaves, allowing for a versatile and fun display typeface. Prints and specimen available HERE

Ela Sans is the sister of the typeface I originally designed for the business of my second wife and mother of my two sons, her name is - of course - Michaela. Ela - the typeface - is suitable for magazines, newspapers, posters, advertiments, books, text, documentation/business reports, business correspondence, multimedia, and corporate design. Because lately this typeface became very popular I decided to extend the Ela Sans family to eight weights and I added italic and smallcaps versions to it. So now Ela Sans and Demiserif together is a full fledged typeface family.

Ludeco is a modern display font with an asymmetrical structure. Letterforms have some resemblance to classic Art Deco style, but with a twist - the weight of the letterform shifts by making a unique pattern. The starting point for CA Slalom was the aspiration to create a contemporary interpretation of classics like Gill and Antique Olive in terms of aesthetics, flexibility and usefulness. The outstanding S soon became the visual hook and starting from the extra bold extended weight, CA Slalom evolved into a huge family with four widths. It’s rather round instead of squarely with stroke-ends pulled deep and a relatively low x-height. This gives CA Slalom a taste of its own, and although it is clearly contemporary, it has the potential to become a classic.

Nat Grotesk family consists of 14 styles including 6 narrow ones. It has a half-closed sans serif design with simple and clear lettershapes. Due to compact proportions the face is very space saving, but nevertheless it is rather legible even in small sizes. The bold weights demonstrate increased contrast. The font is recommended for text and display typography as well as for headlines and advertising. It was designed by Natalia Vasilyeva and released by ParaType in 2007. The upgraded version with extended character set was released in 2009.

QuickType is a typeface I designed for demonstration purposes. I used it to illustrate my first book about type design. It has crooked slab serifs and looks very much like a typewriter font. But in order to make things clear I had to overdo some curves and so QuickType turned out a very distinct typewriter typeface. Since those days I worked on the shapes from time to time, so it got better and I extended it to include several neccessary cuts. Now it is a full fledged very usable font. Canadian type designer Silvio Napoleone created this sans FontFont in 2004. The family has 20 weights, ranging from Light to Black in Normal and Extended (including italics) and is ideally suited for book text, editorial and publishing, logo, branding and creative industries as well as small text. Zart is a heavy yet delicately sensitive display typeface filled with character, a free interpretation of the classical French styles from the late eighteenth century, reimagined for modern use. While it’s vertical strokes carry the typical weight of this style, the thinness of the horizontal strokes is further extended into the characters with the introduction of large vertical ink traps. This allowed us to design slightly narrower letters which, coupled with shorter serifs, result in a overall darker expression, creating really impactful headlines. Ryman Gothic is inspired by American Wood Types and Gothic Typefaces, mainly in the work of Edwin Allen and Morris Fuller Benton. The result is a hybrid combining gothic proportions with the contrast of wood types. While drawing consonants guided by gothic proportions, vowels were designed slightly wider, making them not only more legible when it comes to long text designs, but also more attractive. Ryman Gothic comes in 8 weights plus its matching italics, ranging from Thin to Heavy. Each weight includes extended language support (Latin + Cyrillic + Greek), ligatures, arrows and more.

This typeface was inspired by a font used by Henrie Ballard. Ballard operated on Fleet Street at the Signe of the Bear in London, England. He was active in the industry from 1597-1608. The font is meant to capture the feel of the original typeface with the capability of reproducing the many ligatures that are part of what make that era's printing interesting.
