Over a decade later, Jeff has totally reworked the font—giving it cleaner lines, an extended character set and renaming it Channel Surfing JNL to set it apart from the roughly-drawn original.

Doire is a monowidth font based on the face used on the old Royal Gaelic manual typewriter. Doire Royal is a “rough” version of that font. The inspiration source for Pantomime Monogram is an unusual Art Deco design from a vintage embroidery publication which combines both sans-serif and flare serif styles to create a diamond monogram format. This monogram, which evokes visions of it etched into bakelite, was originally intended to adorn handkerchiefs and towels, but it has so many other possibilities. It is one of many monogram designs from the early 1900’s which fall into a two letter format that is either adorned or interwoven with framing styles. I remember a tea ceremony I attended in Fukuoka, Japan. The teahouse was set in a small, but beautiful garden and the whole idea of the ceremony was to appreciate the view from the porch. I thought the tea was quite bitter, but the view was unsurpassed. From time to time these memories pop up and I have to use them - that is why I named this font Teacup. Teacup is a slightly eroded all caps font, made entirely by hand with a Japanese marker pen and some high quality textured paper. It comes in a romantic open style and a more solid closed style.
