FF Signa is a typically Danish typeface, rooted in architectural lettering rather than book typography. Originally designed for signage—hence the name—FF Signa is now a typographic family with three widths. All weights include italics, small caps, and several styles of figures. Because of the quality of this “vernacular-lettering-into-typeface” conversion, FF Signa received a Danish Design Prize in 2002. FF Signa is radically different from most sans serif text typefaces that were published during the 1990s. It neither belongs in the “humanist sans” category, nor is it on the list of typefaces based on 19th-century grotesques. Its concise letterforms and a minimum of detail produce clear and harmonious word images. Yet its proportions are classical, and the underlying geometry has been subtly adjusted in order to create letterforms which are at once interesting, harmonious, and contemporary. These features make FF Signa pleasant for reading, even at very small sizes. The typeface has developed into a versatile family, with Condensed, Extended, and Correspondence versions. Later on Signa Serif, Stencil variants and a Signa Slab family added even more versatility. The resulting FF Signa type system may be used for corporate identities, brochures, magazines, communication, books, and on-screen publications.

'1812' type family is a revival and further development of the typeface '1812' by Lehmann Type Foundry (St. Petersburg). It was created for the centenary of the French invasion of Russia, known in Russia as the Patriotic War of 1812 along the lines of decorative engraved inscriptions and ornamented typefaces of that time, presumably by the artist Alexandre Benois. It was used mainly for the decoration of luxurious elegant publications. Later, in 1917, this typeface was used on the Russian Provisional Government banknotes. In the Soviet period of time '1812' appeared to be one of the few typefaces included in the first Soviet type standard OST 1337. It was produced for manual typesetting until the early 1990s. This typeface could be seen on Soviet letterheads, forms, posters and even air tickets. The digital version development was launched in 2010. The original version was supplemented with lowercase letters and alternative symbols, the extended Latin and Cyrillic alphabets were fully supported. The font was evolved into a family of 14 decorative styles which can refine any design giving it a festive and elegant but at the same time strict and nostalgic look. Despite its decorative nature, '1812' is perfectly readable in small emphasized text blocks due to its classic shape and careful spacing.

Capellina is a responsive type family comprised of four styles – two script fonts and two small caps romans – built to work together in typographic compositions intended to catch the eye. The Klutz AOE Pro Family was inspired by the plethora of naive hand drawn lettering becoming commonplace in modern advertising. What I hadn't seen was a family of hand drawn typefaces, in a range of widths and weights, with both alternate capitals as well as small caps character sets...and so Klutz Pro was born. The letterforms started with a few letters my daughter had drawn which I expanded on from there. Pulling from inspirations in retro cartoon titling and modern hand lettering playfulness, the full font was born, with weights and width to follow. Quirky, eclectic, and just a bit ridiculous, it lends itself to a range of design typesetting - although I must confess, even though it all began with the Regular width, the Extra Condensed styles are my personal favorites. Roadhouse is a layering typeface family that is part of the greater Evanston type collection, which is inspired by American typefaces commonly used at the turn of the century leading up to Prohibition. Roadhouse reflects the style of lettering used on tavern signage and printed ephemera during the early 20th century. Humanist 521 is a Bitstream digitized version of Gill Sans typeface. The font was designed by Eric Gill and released by Monotype circa 1928-1930. Gill’s design is based on the typeface of Edward Johnston, the innovative British letterer and teacher, designed in 1916 for the signage of the London Underground. However, it has more classical proportions close to those of old style serifs, and thus is more suitable for text setting. With distinct roots in handwritten scripts, Gill’s typeface is classified as a humanist sans serif and is very legible and readable in text and display work. Having been released more than 80 years ago, it’s still very popular and in fact is an icon of British typographic style. The Cyrillic version of Ultra Bold weight was designed by Tagir Safaev in 1997. Six text styles and Extra Bold style in Cyrillic were designed later by Vladimir Yefimov and Isabella Chaeva. The Cyrillic version, in addition to the original Bitstream implementation of Humanist 521, has an alternative numeral 1 with the traditional shape and a set of old-style figures. Rereleased by ParaType in 2013.

Wedding Regular was originally designed by Morris Fuller Benton for ATF and released as Wedding Text in 1901. It is a lighter version of his ENGRAVER'S OLD ENGLISH of the same period. Wedding Regular is based on the Textura style of blackletter that continued in popularity in England into the 16th century, long after the Dutch, French and Italians had moved to a Roman model that expressed the Renaissance humanism of the period. Wedding Headline is a still lighter version of the regular text face, suitable for setting larger sizes while still preserving the delicacy of the decorative hairlines. Textura continues in use in England and the United States for newspaper mastheads, gift shop signs, wedding invitations and programs and other applications where a feeling of tradition is desired. I recently saw an 1980ish photo of a “Tubby Isaac” sign in London using textura. I believe Benton’s design captures that feeling without being heavy-handed and still remaining quite readable for eyes accustomed to Roman lettering. Both Wedding Regular and Wedding Headline convey a comfortable familiarity. These two fonts may be purchased together at an attractive discount or they may be purchased separately. The two monks (alt-0172 and alt-0177) are from a set of sixteenth century decorative initial letters by Gering and Renbolt. Let me introduce URLOP, a wide type family suitable for your fancy posters, headlines, covers, illustrations, websites, initials, blackmails, chronicles, signboards, poems and many others. Twelve basic styles, which make the overall construction, give a wide range of opportunities. All of them, being able to mix with each other, vary from a thin INSIDE, through a medium FILL, to a double-stem PLUS styles. And then comes a range of colour fonts, so you don’t have to waste any of your precious time for experiments, because I’ve already done it for you! URLOP is an all-caps display collection consisting of three sub-families of fonts, divided by the usage they are designed for. First of all, there is a wide range of alphabets made in the new OpenType-SVG colour fonts format. This is quite a novelty and a very promising technology at the same time. It allows designers to store colour information inside the font. Due to my experience with layered colour thinking that I explored in my first family - Epilepsja , I decided to make several preset layer combinations in this auspicious format. This sub-group is tagged RGB. Make sure that your field of usage and software support OT-SVG format. However, if you feel a need to experiment in the old-fashioned way, you may buy separate layers under the DIY tag. The last group is very similar to the DIY, but it was optimized to look better when standing without other layers. It’s called PRO*. All styles cover Latin alphabets of Europe, basic Cyrillic and Greek sets. Have fun! Palatino Arabic is a collaboration between Lebanese designer Nadine Chahine and Prof. Hermann Zapf. The design is based on the Al-Ahram typeface designed by Zapf in 1956 but reworked and modified to fit the Palatino nova family. The design is Naskh in style but with a strong influence of the Thuluth style as well. This is evident in the swash-like finials and the wide proportions of the letterforms. It is designed for use in print in both large and small sizes. The counters are wide open to allow for better readability in small sizes as well as to maintain an open and friendly appearance. The font has 1091 glyphs and includes a large number of extra ligatures and stylistic alternates as well as the basic Latin part of Palatino nova and support for Arabic, Persian, and Urdu. Carole is an interpretation by Matz Gasser of the old-style serif model. It explores the early serif typefaces and how handwriting still had a significant influence on the shapes. The result is a dynamic serif text font to use in small sizes and make reading comfortable.
