We have created this family from the numerous derivatives in use for newspapers since the middle of the 1800s to the 1970s, inspired by the well known Clarendon. Mainly, the patterns are those used to print Le Petit Journal, a popular French Newspaper of the era (published from 1863 to 1937). The present version contains Normal, Italic, Bold and Bold Italic styles, in two sub families: 1906 French News for texts and titlings with upper and lower case, and 1906 French News Caps (Caps, small caps, small numerals, for texts and titlings).

This typeface is the reinterpretation of a sample found in a French book, published between 1882 and 1893 and its author —Ernest Michel— lived between 1837 and 1896. This sample has influence from Didot, Scotch Roman and Clarendon (typefaces which were in use at that time). This reinterpretation expands the basic set for the contemporary era. Bookseller Bk includes small caps, old style figures, lining figures, fractions and basic Cyrillic alphabet. Everything in 3 different optical widths. You can save some lines with Reduced weight or fill some lines with Ample weight. All of them with italics, bold and bold italics. Conceived on a cold evening to the hot Jazz of the Eri Yamamoto Trio at Arthur’s Tavern in the Village, font Molly Louie is best described by the person for whom it was named. “Very intricate, like a whole little world in each of them” and “The solid is nice too, like little cut up sandwiches.” The detailed and solid versions facilitate a variety of two-color applications. The 1920s were part of an era in songwriting where snappy wordplay and clever (if not long) titles prevailed. The lettering on one such piece of sheet music with the song title "In A Shady Nook by A Babbling Brook" offered up a bold, condensed sans serif design which is now available digitally as Brookside JNL. Available in both regular and oblique versions.

You can hear the wheels of imagination turning within this font - Grit Gothic, from Grit History™ B Series, by Baseline Fonts. Both highly stylized and very legible, the extreme height of this font can give even a goblin vertigo. Extended X heights create lowercase that adventurously reach up through extended shoulders and spines while persistent grunge warns of skinned knees that may result along the climb. This version of the family is part of the Reading Edge series of fonts specifically designed for small text onscreen, having been adjusted to provide more generous proportions and roomier spacing, and having been hinted in TrueType for optimal rendering in low resolution environments.

Typesetter JNL is based on an old-style 'grotesk' (or 'grotesque') text face popular with printers and rubber stamp makers since the 1800s. The nonconformist character shapes and line widths are reminiscent of hand-cut type of the era.
