Pascal is a typeface designed in 1953 by José Mendoza y Almeida, inspired by an alphabet created by his father for engraving. It is an elegant and classic typeface. Its use is optimal for use in short texts, headlines and covers. Pascal is a Trademark of BauerTypes SL

A light chancery script font influenced by both the hand-held pen and the typefounder’s machinery. The curves are reminiscent of the beak of the avocet, a wading bird. This font was originally engraved in metal and copper matrices made for casting into hot metal type for letterpress printing.

Cleveden was inspired by some lettering sighted on a neglected and somewhat tarnished brass plaque, affixed to an elderly office building. The elegance and character (somehow playful and formal at the same time) of the letterforms shone through the tarnished state of the plaque. As an aside the brass plaque in question was on the former business premises of a long established firm of accountants. We suspect the ethics of that profession would preclude us identifying which one. Our efforts to identify their engraver have proven unavailing. Cleveden is a family of four typefaces, Regular, Bold, Capitals and Capitals Bold. They are ideal for designs that call for distinctive formality and especially lend themselves to signage, certificates, and -dare it be said- engraved plaques!

Sweet Sans fills that void. The family is based on antique engraver’s lettering templates called “masterplates.” Professional stationers use a pantograph to manually transfer letters from these masterplates to a piece of copper or steel that is then etched to serve as a plate or die. This demanding technique is rare today given that most engravers now use a photographic process to make plates, where just about any font will do. But the lettering styles engravers popularized during the first half of the twentieth century—especially the engraver’s sans—are still quite familiar and appealing. Referencing various masterplates—which typically offer the alphabet, figures, an ampersand, and little else—Mark van Bronkhorst has drawn a comprehensive toolkit of nine weights, each offering upper- and lowercase forms, small caps, true italics, arbitrary fractions, and various figure sets designed to harmonize with text, small caps, and all-caps. Dreamy JNL was modeled from the hand-lettered title on the sheet music cover for "If I'm Dreaming" and features an Art Deco type design with engraved lines in both regular and oblique versions. The Jerome Kern song was from the 1929 First National/Vitaphone picture "Sally" starring Marilyn Miller.

Gold Fever is a revival of the old classic Caxtonian font originaly designed in the mid to late 1800s. Along with the original engraved shadow version new styles have been created making this decorative font set more complete. The new styles include a solid black, open faced, condensed and fill versions.

Kings in Disguise is a chunky, balloon font of the sort used extensively during the 1970s. It has a retro, disco feel and is ideal for signs and logos. The name comes from a great comic book series published in the late 1980s. The engraved style has a limited character set.

John Seddon (1644-1700), was a famous English writing master, the leading calligrapher of his time, and master of Sir John Johnson’s Free Writing School in Priest’s Court, Foster Lane. His portrait was drawn by William Faithorne and was engraved by John Sturt as the frontispiece for his copy-books, such as ‘The Ingenious youth’s companion’ of c.1690 and 'The pen-man’s paradise' of c.1695. And, on the other hand, you can get the animal and human kingdon inspired penmanship forms in the Bestiario font. The “SeddonsFleurons” will complete the collection.
