In my on-going quest for display fonts to be used with my books and on my book covers, I decided I need a squared sans serif. I started the build off of Fiscal, a font I designed back in 2006. I never liked the font, plus my tastes have changed. So, I opened it, made it narrower, increased the x-height, and various stuff like that. I made it much heavier—an ended up with Boxy. Then my brain slapped me and said, "Why don't you make a sorta modern version?" So, I did and decided to call that style Chic. But then I wanted a thin version also. Fiscal was always too heavy and ponderous for me. So, I made the Thin style. Finally, I felt I needed an italic of Chic. OpenType features didn't seem to work well with the family, so all I added was oldstyle figures. So, I ended up with another of my unique families—with two unmodulated fonts: Thin and Medium, and two modulated fonts: Chic and Chic Italic. But, I'm pleased with it. My hope is that you will like it also.

Daiquiri is a revival of a handlettered font in two weights, from an ad for Puerto Rico Rum dating back to the forties or fifties. I found the ad on a French antique market on my last visit for Mardi Gras in Nice. The ad read "Breeze through the heat, be a Daiquiri fan". That's why they had this "fan" in the illustration! Did they want you to rotate like a fan when you had enough Daiquiris? Or did they just do it for that little "Jeu des mots"? Anyway I found the handlettering very pretty, so I took those few letters and made a whole font out of them. I think Daiquiri has that touch that brings those happy and uncomplicated times back when advertising was still fun. I started something like 20 years later in advertising and things had gotten more stringent. We already had to satisfy those marketing guys with their scholarly attitude. They have taken all the fun out of the job, for the creators as well as for the consumers. I would like to see more uncomplicated ads like this again, yours Gert Wiescher

PTx Flowers Font Family 2 fonts: regular and silhouette each font - 6 glyphs TTF format Bear in mind that each glyph of the font PTx Flowers Regular is close to the maximum limit of points possible in ttf, which means that despite being tested in several programs, illustrator, photoshop, among others including word, some bugs may occur, depending on the rendering capability of the program you are working on. I found however that most of the time, that by the way the bugs, when tested, were only verified in word, that changing the size of the letter/glyph or even the zoom of the document, the letter/glyph was rendered correctly. These fonts have a very limited number of glyphs because, due to the glyphs having too many points, it can take some time to render. Dragonflight Pro is a script collection of four modern calligraphy fonts. Each glyph was hand-drawn with a brass folded pen dipped in ink. The tip of the folded pen resembles the shape of a dragonfly’s wing, hence the name. By tilting the pen variations in line width are made. This produces fun, expressive letters with a spontaneous personality. The regular and rough version of Dragonflight Pro have alternate glyphs that can either be accessed by the swashes feature, stylistic set 1, or the glyphs panel, depending on the application you are using. There are lots of discretionary ligatures that offer even more variation. By typing _1 to _10 you can access bonus swashes that are part of Dragonflight Pro Regular and Rough. Both fonts have 567 glyphs. Dragonflight Pro Sans is an all caps font with 402 glyphs, also hand-drawn with the folded pen, that compliments the other styles perfectly. Dragonflight Pro Extra offers an additional 117 swashes, doodles and ink splatters. With Discretionary Ligatures activated you can type an underscore in front of a letter and (when available) this gives you the rough version of the glyph.

This font family is inspired by printed work made by the Elzevir family back in the XVIIth century at Leiden (NL). They worked with material from several type designers, but further investigations sends us to the tracks of one in particular: Robert Granjon. Granjon italics were way ahead of his time, making some really beautiful signs like swashy ampersands and minuscule v letters. This font also contains old style figures in the same fashion as they were printed, like the flipped number 8 and open forms in 6 and 9. This is as much a revival as an original design, because of their weights bold and heavy (both with italics) that were inspired on some titles. In this font you can also find a lot of ligatures, small caps, diacritics and even a fleuron for each weight and variation. Leidener came up from two books: Constantini Imperiatoris (1611) and Exercitationum Mathematicarum (1657), printed by Louis and John Elzevir on their Leiden Workshop, back in the day.

This 12-font family employs several unique features including a 2-part Chisel set which allows for the look of stone incised lettering. Hedonic has just a hint of a slab serif and even that is used so sparingly that it almost feels like a sans serif font. Its design does appear to be painfully simple but there are many interesting features including a selection of weights, small caps with old style numerals and display weights that make it very useful. And legible. Old style numerals are included with the small caps and italics. Also for display purposes are two "Chisel" fonts. Used together, set one on top of the other, they create a stylish 3D effect—ideal for logos and headlines or anything that needs a strong graphic punch. Hedonic may not be as eccentric as many fonts out there, but overall it is clean and legible with a few extra flourishes to stand out from the crowd!
