Das Grotesk was inspired by earlier nineteenth-century grotesques, but it is much more related to American gothic designs such as those by M.F. Benton. Due to their pure geometric structure, most grotesque typefaces tend to have a rather monotonous and lifeless appearance, thus failing to express the ideals of the modern creed. Das Grotesk on the other hand is a lively design with several distinguishable characteristics which attract attention when set at large sizes, whilst they become subtle and blend evenly at small sizes, fostering a neutral identity. Sam Suliman is a condensed display face supplied in three weights – Regular, Medium and Bold – plus a set of handy italics (obliques). All six fonts are included in the value family pack. A type of “handwriting” discovered by chance, extremely abstract On April 8, 1948 a certain Walter Plaga wrote a crude poem about a hero on a commemorative plaque. The very poor reproduction of the handwritten original, etched into a metal sheet, produced extremely abstract forms so that — even if unintentional — a script completely void of bowls was created. That which originally was the normal clumsy handwriting of a layman thus transformed into a pseudo-modern deconstructive typeface, which in the 21st century appears contemporary. The capital letters especially reflect the original: in part they show forms labeled incorrectly ”old German“ handwriting, which is actually Latin, in the letters A D G I J K L S V W X Z , whereas C H N O P R appear very modern. Truly a form of handwriting: without joining the letters, especially between the lower case characters, a silhouette effect is formed. Hey guys! Meet our new font "Luxe Atelier" which is inspired by a bit quirky but still lovely handwriting. When we launched our font "Lolita" in 2019 many liked the way we replaced some uppercase letters with lowercase ones. The response was overwhelmingly positive. The feedback we received inspired us to refine the idea of the lowercase signature style and we created "Luxe Atelier" with a lot more lowercase letters that give an uppercase look. However, some uppercase letters simply cannot be written as lowercase due to their nature: they would just lose their primary sound. For example, when we tried writing lowercase 'e' in the uppercase style it more resembled lowercase 'l' and affected the legibility of the font. Therefore some letters in this font remained as is. When it comes to other letters, we tried maximally to keep the lowercase style. This playful, non-standard signature font with slightly rough edges includes 37 ligatures which will definitely add realistic handwritten character to your designs. The Cedi Typeface is a single weight display font that is based on the fluid handwritten style of a work colleague. This design is a fast flowing script that is both lively and original yet equally legible due to it's defined letterforms and open forms. Despite working well in a regular format, during the design process I started to look at ligatures as a solution for solving some problematic combinations. However, this small implementation soon got vastly expanded as I started to focus on the rythm of the letterforms and how best to convey the hand drawn feature in the design. A common problem in most script fonts is the repeating letterforms that would be particularily un-natural for this manual typeface, therefore hinting at it's digital source. The ligature concept soon evolved into over 2400 ligatures, trying to cover all repeating glyphs as well as finding more harmious combiations.
